There is such art in every instrument on earth, and the variety that man has invented is astonishing. This reed instrument is just wonderful, and it takes a lot to learn how to play it well! I love making instruments, as I enjoy the sounds. I would love to try this one day! The wood part I can learn very quickly, as I hand carve Native American flutes, but the reed portion is a true art, and we don't always have the materials! the similarity to oboe/bassoon reed making is really astonishing. We accomplish many of the same things with different techniques. I wonder how this will change my approach to making reeds in the future. Very cool! Thank you so much for posting this!

if it is anything like the way oboists/bassoonists make reeds we have a certain length we go for. (longer reeds are lower pitch). So im sure there is some measurment (maybe it looks like 120-130mm?) and the reed can be clipped shorter and shorter until the perfect pitch is met. Also the opening of the reed can be closed down for a higher pitch and opened for a lower pitch. This guy is a real master! I make oboe reeds professionally and even I learned stuff from watching this!

I got 2 reed (armenian duduk) but I lost the apricot piece, so, I need to make this piece because I cant buy another apricot body, its too expensive. I dont care the Key, I only need the measures to sound correctly, I NEED HELP PLEASEEE!!!

size of reeds is different for every key. E.g. reeds for G tuned Duduks are huge in comparison to reeds for D tune.
I suggest to order a Duduk in A by Ebay (e.g. here: www.ebay.de/itm/Profi-Duduk-aus-Armenien-3-reed-2-CD-Etui-Flote-Mey-Mundstuck-Neu-/291738308183?hash=item43ecf54e57:g:i2IAAOxyLchRv1sy). It is just EUR 29. Usually Duduk itself is quite OK. I got mine there and very satisfied with. The only thing I didn't like were reeds, which I ordered separately by another master. Now my Duduk sounds like it has to.
+Papawowa My two reeds are tunned in C#, so it can works in a A & AB Duduk.
