- Evo Japan has now concluded, and we got the "main event" as it were with the Akuma Gameplay trailer for Street Fighter 6! Akuma is as suitably impressive in SF6 as you would hope and dream, and even maybe just a little bit more than that. So as you would expect, lets do a full breakdown of everything about Akuma cause there is a LOT to go through, this guy is crazy lol

***EDIT*** Playstation blog posted a thing(after i made the vid, of course) so Red Fireball is just regular fireball held it looks like, not a separate input like it usually is. So there's that! Everything else though I got right lol.
So its finally here, the "Main Event" of Evo Japan as it were... Akuma and his trailer! Akuma is now apparently the herald of Season 2 of SF6 as he will launch with a major balance patch effecting ALL CHARACTERS on May the 22nd, so stay tuned for that cause we will def cover it on the channel. As for the Akuma trailer? Dude's crazy lol, like stuff is straight up bananas. Don't wanna give it all away so get to watching! Also leave a like too why not for akumas sake! The biggest problem I had with Akuma was how they’ll handle him in WT. Because I made the point before is he just gonna be like “hey kid, I’m gonna teach u Assassination Fist and Satsui No Hado in 5-10 minutes. U’ll mimic me perfectly.” NO FREAKING WAY!! Not after all that lore and history! So I’m glad the devs have recognised this and said it will be different this time

Yea red fireball is like rashid tornado shot. You charge normal fireball to get it

鬼哭啾啾 was kind of a vague line earlier on but was cleared by the Sony official post. At first people were discussing on two sides about what it means, is it Akuma screaming as he becomes an Oni, or is the screaming coming from the opponent/victim who is about to become a ghost?
Turns out it's both, the 1000 Akuma shadows in the background are actually all the souls of previous opponents defeated by Shun Goku Satsu, who have now been added to Akuma's power/ karma and become part of him. 鬼哭啾啾 refers to the 1000 souls screaming, who are also Akuma himself.
Huh, so the last part can also be paraphrased: "Thus, Gouki I am."

I guess Akuma was being literal when he said “Die 1,000 deaths”. Still, the new Raging Demon looks incredible.
My favorite part of the reveal was when akuma showed up and said "Like and Subscribe" and proceeded to do it over and over again!!!??? Shheeesh. ☠️

Best Raging Demon I've ever seen
Isnt it the only Raging Demon we ever seen? Normally he grabs then the screen goes black with some flashes here and there, then the picture comes back with him standing over the opponent with his back facing the camera. This is the first time, that I recall, that we see what happens during the black screen.

His double fire punch is the Shakunetsu Messho from Tekken 7. Akuma went to Tekken, learned a new move, and brought it back SF.
I was thinking the same thing. His punches and kicks look very straight and purposeful like Kazuya and Jin.
I'm at the point where I watch the trailer then IMMEDIATELY run over to have you explain all the cool shit I just saw.

Both of them are based on the Oni from Buddhist mythology. In Buddhism based on your karma, the less karmic debt you have you become closer to Enlightenment, the more karmic debt you have, the closer you are to an Oni, basically path of Buddha and path of Oni, god and demon.
To become Enlightened means to detach yourself from desire, which is the source of attachment, that leads to suffering, so by emptying yourself, e.g. Power of Nothingness, you become Enlightened like Ryu, becoming a Buddha. The opposite is Akuma, who is extremely attached to power and suffering, Satsui no Hadou, he has surrendered himself to the Oni.

I love the start of his drive rush animation on his toes. The animators are so consistent with expressing the exertion of battle on these characters

The subtle reference to at least partway becoming Oni is his win cinematic is really cool. In SF4 Oni picks up your head before slamming it into the ground and it looks like here Akuma contemplates it before just letting you go as he has no use for you anymore.
Cute nod to the idea he's on the cusp of losing his humanity.
Those lava punches looks like a call back to his ff2,1 from his guest appearance in tekken 7
As much as this version of Akuma is AWESOME there is a small part of me that wants to see the timeline where in SFV he had the baby and his mentor quests in SF6 would just be us helping him with that.
lol I hope they at least reference that in his interactions. He'll be training you and be like "You know you're almost as helpless as that baby I had to take care of for a little while."
I hope they reference him being friends with Elena. That's my favorite bizarre piece of SF lore.

The new Raging Demon looks like he puts you in the Tsukuyomi.
Im noticing some similarities with the ryu animations. One of the target combos is a punch punch round house kick like ryu, his lava punches are lole ryus hasho in a way and his level 2 definitely starts like ryus level 2
An army of Akuma for his raging demon, that's awesome.
They seem to have confirmed that the Raging Demon works as an ender if you want to use it that way.
You can combo into the raging demon.
We had to deal with that in Tekken 7, now it's your turn.
hope they would change that before launch, coz I don't want to see a RD doing low damage.

1. That raging is like akuma becomes madara uchiha sage of the six path. All those clones looks like the limbo move.
2. Akuma looks way more scary and now kazuya, heihachi, shao kahn and Shang Tsung will run very badly
3. The volcano in the background reminds me of “volcanic rim” in sf4 (I love that stage)
Akuma‘s win pose (The part where he’s looking at you) might be a alpha 2 reference. I wouldn’t be surprised since the stage is also a alpha 2 reference

I was gifted street fighter 6 for my birthday but I was willing to play tekken 8 first so I just played a few games and tried the drive system. Now seeing the new akuma I think it's time to play it a bit more seriously.

Man been waiting for Akuma and I don't even like using shoto chars at all. Given the look and the style and that I'm likely not going to get Oni like I want, this will work. He looks great. That full screen ex flip is made for a certain bearded broken char. Great vid man!
That divekick at the start looked like it came from his regular jump instead of the hyakkishu (demon flip), because the hyakkishu isn't a flip anymore, it seems. On top of that, he can *still* divekick from his Hyakkishu, which means he has *two dive kicks!*
And there's NO ONE C'STOP'IT! Also, the first dive kick was not from the Demon Flip. The rest are.

If he can command grab… it can be OD’ed… and if it can be OD’ed, it means he can spread fear with the command grab…
Which means Akuma officially joins the grappler family
Not every command grab ever has an OD version. That goes doubly to command grabs off of movement techniques, i.e. A.K.I.

@KaitouKaiju you cant ex teleport with akuma. it uses 3 buttons for the move itself

The SF devs saw T7 Akuma juggles and said we can do that too! And as someone who strives to be a better Akuma main, I'm beyond excited to lab all these juggle combos!

I'd say we've been waiting more than a year. We had very credible leaks for the whole season one rooster a year prior to the SF6 release. So, we've really been waiting two years for this trailer.
