Great work! My favorite part is, "if someone is looking at your threads that close and make a negative comment, they ain't your friend." Funny. Love your work.
I agree , no music is much easier to listen to instructions. I learned a few tricks from this video. I love how you said if anyone picks at your stitches, they ain’t no no friend of yours lmao. Awesome tutorial!
I love watching your tutorials. I’ve been sewing since I was old enough to hold a needle and thread. I love your sewing style and your clear, concise explanations. Wonderful! Thank you!
Thank you for the detailed explanation, and as everyone else is saying, I appreciate that there was no music. :) Your voice and laugh remind me of my mother's. I might get up the courage to do raw edge applique after this.
This is exactly what I needed! Thank you so much for explaining it all so clearly and taking the time to share it with all of us. Really appreciate it.
I love this excellent tutorial very detailed instructions. I’m getting ready to do my first appliqué quilt. Thank you so much. How do you appliqué around the tiny pieces like the beak and cheek. I’m so afraid I’ll mess that part up because I have some tiny pieces to go around.
Thank you! Funny how each machine has a personality. Mine doesn't like the satin stitch. Even with the special foot it doesn't want to move over the stitch. It gets hung up.
Thank you for this video. It gives me courage to start my raw edge applique on a baby quilt I am making. My fabric hasn't been prewashed, hope it will hold up.
Wash it on a gentle cycle, air dry if possible or low heat in the dryer. If the fusible frays or comes loose you can iron it to help refuse. I have several quilts that have done just fine without prewashing.
I kept hoping to see how the thread spool was mounted on the machine. If the thread is pulling from the side, that may be why the thread is twisting. The thread on a cross wound spool needs to be pulled straight off the top of the spool, not from the side.
Hello Leanne. I discovered you a few months ago and love you!!! I just subscribed to your youtube (didn't know you had it) and watched your video. You are so down to earth and helpful in so many ways. I picked up some of your tips on raw edge applique. I like doing this method because, yep, it's faster and at my age, I want faster now (did I give it away that I am an old gal hee hee). You truly have a knack for picking out colors for your quilts. They are always bright and happy, not too bright, just right. I will look at all your videos later. I was born and raised in Indiana, a Michigander for years now. Thanks so much for all that you do to share with all of us. Happy New Year and many hugs to you..... Claudia
Awe thanks Claudia, huggin back! I am who I am, just a country girl who loves to quilt. Putting up a front is hard to maintain so I don't do it. I gotta ask is your name really Lucille Ball?
@@podunkpretties No that is not my real name, it is just an online name I use for websites, etc. But of course I am a redhead that claims to have big Lucy moments when I screw up something, ha ha. Love REAL people, no phony stuff.....
I use children's coloring books to get nice pictures for appliquet. Just a tip for some who likes applique. I also use Freezer Paper.:) Then can use a lot of times over. Heat & Bond you can only use once
Your just what I was searching for... thanks so much! I've got a design in my head ... a Northwest coastal native salmon table runner for my brother in the Yukon ( 4 Christmas) . I know the technic but worried about bulk & stiffness. BC, Canada 🤗
I like this tutorial because it is clear and easy to follow the demonstration. I would like to know the machine you use and the foot and stitch number. Thank you
Love your video thank you but I don’t have blanket stitch on my machine I have a few stitches very similar or could I use a very small zig zag stitch …
I’m a beginner and wanted to learn how to appliqué. What’s the name of the fabric?I really like the fabric combination and the yellow with the flowers. Thank you again the the great tutorial.
I don't know the name of the fabric used for most of the applique. The wing on the bird is a Pam Kitty Lakehouse Drygoods. They're no longer in business. The yellow fabric on my ironing station is an older fabric also and the selvages have been removed so I don't know the name of it either.
Hello Leanne I just found your channel and I like the way you explained things. Except I didn't catch the name of this stitch and the settings that you said in the beginning of the video. So hopefully I can go back and find out that information? If not could you please send me a comment on what this stitch is called and the settings please. Hello, first time at your channel. Very nice tutorial. I have a query if I may have your help. Can you please explain what's the difference between the appliqué fusible paper and the Bondaweb? I've been told that they are different, but having watched several videos, they both function in the same way and I'm a bit confused. Thank you for your time and help.
They look to be the same, just made in different countries. I never used it so I can't speak for it's quality. But from what I can tell it's the same as Heat N Bond Lite here in the USA.
Karen Kay Buckley Scissors. They are wonderful! I have used and abused these things and they are still sharp. I own 3 different sizes and use them daily. The handles are soft and easy on the hands. They are a little pricey but not as high as some other scissors that are heavy and hard on the hands.
Really appreciate your video. I am just about to start my first appliqué baby quilt and find your info very helpful. Two questions please. Could you tell me the site for your friends appliqué patterns that you were using? I know you said it in the video, but I missed it. And what do you call that presser foot? It gives so much more visibility than a regular old zigzag foot. Thanks. I hope you are still out there making videos.

Hi! Just letting you know I found your post on Quilter Blogs and came to watch on you tube. This is a great video and better than some that have been edited. You may want to try some Invisifil 100wt thread and pair it with Decob 80wt to see if you like it. (not saying that you need to).
