The solos were recorded individually; nobody's playing in the studio at that moment. iirc originally they were going to swap out which instruments soloed every time you repeated the fight but it got scrapped.
That's also why there are different solos on the in-game version and OST versions of the track

Of all of the solos featured in Cuphead, that clarinet from 2:28 to 2:55 is by far my favorite. That high note is incredible and the decay right after is unmatched. 10/10, I wish it was featured in one of the official soundtracks.

So the pianist isn't in this recording but in the version of this sound that appears on the official soundtrack, the pianist has a solo
You can, but his job is to help lock down the rhythm section and double the melody - not outplay the whole brass section. Other versions of songs throughout cup head have solo piano transcriptions anyway.

I honestly can not decide what i enjoyed the most, animation, gameplay, music.

Da Dragon Durp I always encourage anyone who wants to to learn to play an instrument.
Couple tips as well
1) STICK TO IT: You WILL suck for the first month, hell even year. Keep at it, and someday, you'll get it and you won't Sound like a dying cat anymore.
2) Learn the note names. I never did, and wow, did it come back to bite me in the ass later
For trumpets specifically
3) PRACTICE THAT INTONATION. With ever group of trumpets I played with, hardly any of them had good intonation, and when you put that all together with the other off tune trumpets, it's sounds like hot garbage.

Some things are down voted because people don't like them, but not because they want to be asses about it, its because that way youtube doesn't recommend you similar content.

I love the fact most of them are smiling during the whole process of recording. It's heartwarming to watch and hear; so many years of hard work was really worth it, this game is FANTASTIC! I love the overall old-school aesthetic, as this style of animation and music touches a soft spot in my heart.

I don't know if there exists any other game in the history of gaming that has done this: To hire a gigantic Jazz band to create, play and record their tracks like boss themes. Absolute dedication.
Not out yet but it looks like Silksong will have real performers doing the tracks. From what I've seen online Hollow Knight used purely digital sounds due to a lack of budget

Honestly, the pain-stakingly detailed hand-drawn animation would've been enough, but the composition is beautiful. Those two elememts combined with the arduous gameplay make this one of the most complete and wonderful game experiences I've ever had. Thank you all, so much, for all the hard work you put into this game! It shows and has paid off in spades!

AGGGGH. This is EASILY the best song yet. WOW. What a GREAT PIECE. I have to listen to this again--i have to listen to this easily several more times. This is just incredible.
EDIT: may i just add that the muted trombone (at 1:18) is one of the most hilarious sounds in jazz? like, the muted trumpet is "weh, weh, mwehwep-wehh" and that's fun and very listenable, but the muted trombone is just: "mmuuAAAAUUGGGGGH" like the death throes of a broken-hearted scat singer.

I love this music! I'm glad that you guys decided to go old fashioned when doing the music cause that shows that you guys really care about keeping the game close to a 1930s cartoon style and that includes using old fashioned music and old fashioned music techniques like back In the olden days. I really enjoy these production promo's that blend into the game. The music (especially Botanic Panic), gameplay and pure effort put into Cuphead demonstrates why its a Master Piece. Also finding out that MDHR is Canadian also brings me great pride that this indie studio is willing to go above and beyond expectation to produce quality that will be spoken about for decades. I work in advertising and it would be a dream job to be able to assist this studio with their future projects so the world can experience the quality for themselves. I also appreciate the cost of the game for the quality you receive, I sincerely look forward to future projects your studio has to offer in the future.

Ness Labakstor it's thought and also rarely does a game studio make sounds digitally it takes way to long for a little payout
no way sound quality like this is digital. really hard to capture the feel of real instruments playing jazz digitally.
SampleModeling libraries with a breath controler do an incredible job for brass instruments... But nothing like the real thing of course ;)
some well played synth can make great brass tutti since 1970s (check out EWF and Stevie Wonder), but making a barely acceptable brass solo is impossible nowadays, except making a poorly played brass (such as Meatball Parade by Kevin MacLeod)
As a jazz trombonist as well as a composer and remixer, digital music production is great for certain things. But there's a level of humanity and just style and swing that you don't get with digital music that you only get from live playing. This whole soundtrack is such a love letter to big band jazz, and I love it so damn much. The live music is what takes this game to a whole new level. Another great OST is the soundtrack to Mario Kart 8, because that's got live musicians as well. There's just something inherently magical and smooth about live jazz being played.

THIS IS THE COOLEST THING I HAVE DISCOVERED.
2016-2017 have been probably the best years for video game soundtracks! The tf2 soundtrack was finally fully released and that was stunning, Overwatches soundtrack was really experimental and tried really cool mixtures like a symphonic orchestra and an electronica musician, then cuphead comes along with a stunning hand drawn animation and a full big-band jazz orchestra and these 3 games are my absolute favorite and they for me personally have the greatest soundtracks in gaming!
