Hydroxyurea Treatment for Children with Sickle Cell Disease

Hydroxyurea is a medication that can improve the lives of many people living with sickle cell disease. It does not cure sickle cell disease, but it can reduce pain episodes, decrease the need for blood transfusions, decrease hospitalizations and the risk of stroke.
