+VisioRacer Obviously, cars from Argentina. ummm... There's the IKA renault torino (inline-6, also, there was an iconic model named "w380 nurburgring"), the ford falcon (also, inline-6), the dodge gtx (one of the fewest v8's of our country), and a lotta more.

Even with a 100-gallon lube oil tank, the R-4360 didn't have an oil change interval. Its oil consumption was prodigious enough to make regular oil changes unnecessary. Periodically topping off the tank was enough.

You never knew Lambo used a V8? Road & Track did a road test of the Lamborghini Urraco back in the '70s. At the time I didn't think the Urraco was very good looking, but then I was still in love (Alas! unrequited!) with the Miura, which I thought was the motoring equivalent of Sophia Loren.

Suggestion: the Scania DC16 diesel engines. There are multiple versions: the "smallest" being aV8 with 500HP and 15.6L of displacement with 2500 Nm and the biggest being a 16.4L V8 with 730HP and 3500 Nm. They are used in the newest generations of Scania trucks and other heavy machinery

My favourite engine mentioned in this video is Honda's Inline 6 motorbike engine...man. I have no clue how common these things are anymore, but the sound alone is just glorious coming from this thing in my opinion...I don't know why but it feels like the exact sound you would expect a racing bike to have, only better. To describe it is difficult, really...

The jet bike in the movie Torque was a MTT Y2k jet bike and was a limited production bike from 2000 till 2005. MTT no longer develops this bike but another company had taken it over and a newer version of the bike has been worked on over the years. I am not sure if it is in production or not at this time, but it did break 3 world records in 2014 I believe for a production motorcycle. The original also held a Guinness record for fastest production motorcycle.

I've picked up a little in my lifetime by talkin with the older guys, and hangin around an airport 👍
Some of those old radials had a compression release or a way to drain the oil out of the bottom facing cylinders quickly before a startup, if ya didn't drain em you could bend a rod in startup from hydrolock.
lol so if you ever come across one and need to start it , don't forget that 😂

The boxer/flat 8. Literally the best of both worlds between the flatplane V8 and the crossplane V8. Revs, Responsiveness, AND torque, with a hybrid sound that -arguably- beats out V12's and V10's.
Imagine how much better the 918 {and shitloads of other cars} would be with a flat-8/boxer-8.

well to be honest.. a v10 diesel is all great in its own right. though the 15 liter in line 6 in all the trucks I drove in my career would trump in tq and hp figures.. the interior volume of the v10 must be pretty small per cylinder

That Tatra air cooled V10 is diesel hence the "direct injection". I guess that is pointed out due to the fact that when the engine was introduced in 1983 most other diesel engines used "indirect injection" where the injector fires into a smaller pre-combustion chamber before where the flame front starts and moves to the main combustion chamber. Cool design non the less.

You got that R4360 engine in this video which I stated in a comment in an earlier video.
Incorporate the Deltic engine in the next one, lot of footage to find, either showing the inner workings and the locomotives they were used in, they sound rather awesome for a large diesel.
All opposed piston diesels are 2-strokes by the way, as there are no heads to fit valves in, the pistons themselves act as valves, having ports in the cylinder sleeve (the injector sits between these in the middle).
The movement of one piston is slightly delayed, so the pistons in each cylinder don't reach top dead point at the same moment, in this way in and exhaust port are not opening and closing at the same moment and scavenging is better than in a normal 2-stroke engine.

Napier Deltic was no licence. It was a completely separate development. Junckers never got furthen than single inline, Vee and quad bank opposed piston engines. Somehow Junckers never got the inlet/outlet timing right.
Only when napier decided to have 1 crank (the bottom one) turn counterclockwise, the Deltic became feaseable.

The TVR Speed 12 is my favorite thing ever. I love pure, insane cars. Rumor is, the engine was so powerful they could only test it 1 bank so 6 cylinders at a time on the dyno because it would break it!

I think there's an error in this listing, because the Honda V-4 V8-ish with the oval pistons, was so used again after 1984, it was used in a street bike in the early 90's, because I've seen it in a Cycle World magazine Kama it was a Honda that costed $60,000 but it didn't sell very many of them. I don't know really how many actually sold, but I know that this engine design was used in the early 90's, I'm almost willing to bet my life on it! I'm going to try to do some research on it, so I'll find out something soon.

The reason the Urraco's V8 was so small was any engine over 3 litres was severely taxed in Italy. Most of the exported Urracos were 3 Litres. The smaller capacities were ment for the home market. Ferrari were hit to. If Magnum PI were made in Italy, aside from better clothes and more style, the ferrari would be a 208 and not the 308 he drove (2 litre V8 as opposed to a 3litre V8)
On the point of the first Jet Road car. Rover were there before Chrysler with the Wizard/Jet 1.

Ferrari had a 3 liter V-8. It was in the Ferrari 308. (The same car Tom Selleck drove in _Magnum P.I.
Lamborghini was not the only one to make a small V-8, though they did make a 2 liter version, so the 3.0 in the car at 2:41 is not the smallest V-8 they made.
