John MacArthur has said many good things. But, this isn’t one of them. It’s simplistic and foolish. The conclusions of a truncated, non-sacramental view of life. He would benefit from a reading of Sirach 38.
I'm no fan of MacArthur but it seems to me that he's just saying that drug medication not only doesn't solve the problem but actually makes it worse. I think that's a fair comment.
On what basis? Do you have any medical training?
@@ronv7995 One doesn't need medical training to be aware of modern medicine's failures. The recent C-VID debacle has opened the eyes of many people. And, as far as PTSD goes, I know people who suffer from that and, in spite of the cocktail of chemicals they are given, they don't improve. And the healing power of Christ? That's considered medieval. Ha!
It's pure speculation. He doesn't quote statistics, studies, or Holy Scripture.
Is he a medical doctor?
No. Nor does he play one on TV, unless you count this.
John is 100% correct! I have always said this. FEELINGS do not exist except in your head, there is NOTHING TO CURE except your standing with Christ. REPENT AND BE SAVED!
Hmm. . . Okay, then how do you know when you've repented and are saved? Please be thorough.
@marmeemarch7080 ??? How do I know when I walk? If I repent I know I repent, turn away from sin. I am constantly repeating each day. Weird question. We will never know if we are saved until judgment day. We do not decide if we are saved, only Jesus decides.
I love JMac 🙂
Hmmm....I am looking in the Scriptures, trying to find definitive teaching or wisdom for dealing with psychiatric diagnostic disagreements. Even athiest psychiatrists disagree with each other on these topics. Yet when someone comes along and essentially says 'forget about the names, whether it's shell shock, PTSD, ADD, or whatever and look to Christ for answers', the Christian community comes unglued?? You are too attached to this world system in finding answers anywhere but in Christ. If your doctor has prescribed you a pill to solve the problem of your many-named affliction, take it! But don't throw a brother under the bus because he disagrees with your doctor. There are more important hills to die on.
I think he's disagreeing with the concept of doctors, or at least a kind of doctor that he knows very little about and is merely uncomfortable with. Then he waves his hand and dismisses the real suffering of millions of people including devout believers and tells them it's their own fault. This is wrong and careless and prideful and binds burdens onto the backs of others, which he himself will not bear.
I agree with him.....I will be ridiculed for that....but I've seen too much in my 75 years....not to agree with his assessment....
Yup...your right. You and Johnny-Mac know more than most of the medical professionals around the globe (SMH). As an ordained minister myself I would only say that he should stick to theology and let the physicians make the medical statements. He's out of his paygrade when he makes these kinds of foolish statements.
I agree with John Macarther 100 percent
Based on what medical training... the same as his I suppose (none). A pastor shouldn't be making public statements about medical issues because a pastor isn't qualified to do so, and neither are you.... PERIOD!
Absolute truth! Deal with it psychs.
Why is it true, because Pope MacArthur said so? Or do you have a medical degree?
@@ronv7995 having a medical degree wouldn't do anything to verify truth as conventional medicine and psych "medicine" is why the country is in the sick shape it's in. They are the ones making people sicker by drugging them and making them believe they're sick and weak.
You must be really popular around war veterans.
Anyone who is looking for another reason to dislike a brother in Christ, obviously does not know what biblical love is. This is very sad.
We aren't supposed to call out false teaching? Also, do you apply this standard to JMac?
@@barelyprotestant5365 Yes. When someone is teaching heresy, that is, something opposed to the gospel of Christ, you jump all over it. But PTSD is not found in the Scriptures. It's just a nomenclature for a list of symptoms. SO WHAT if J.M. has a differing opinion on the source of certain mental states? That does not make him a "false teacher". You are straining at a gnat and swallowing a camel. And you should know who was famous for that.
It's not mere dislike, it's false and misguided. When the blind lead the blind. . .
@@barelyprotestant5365 I actually do not agree with everything John Mac teaches. But since I am acutely aware that I myself am not infallible, I cut people a lot of slack, UNLESS it pertains to the deity of Christ, His substitutionary death on the cross, and His resurrection. I do draw the line on the gospel.
@@raifcluster where did the Judaizing sect in Galatians deny one of those three?
JM is 100% correct. Psychology is total crap and should be disregarded. Well said John
Of course John's not perfect but as time goes and lawlessness abides everybody quoting scripture is gonna get it...who cast stones? Nobody
It's not just that he's not perfect," it's that he promulgates false teachings. He should have stepped down from his position long ago.
@@marmeemarch7080 ok.. who's your top 5 best pastors?
@@turbo3794 Mine are Jordan Cooper, Bryan Wolfmueller, Matthew Everhard, Chad Bird, and Gavin Ortlund.
@ronv7995 all Luke warm , try again.
@@turbo3794 lol, no I'll pass on the 19th century fallacy known as Dispensationalism, but thanks. I taught it for 20 years, then got wise and studied the Bible instead of the systematic theologies all of my professors brainwashed me with. Johnny Mac teaches a weird mixture of Reformed and dispie lies. He needs to stick with the reformers all the way.
