I think Smith's innings at pune in 2017 should be ranked higher than KP's innings at Mumbai in 2012. At that time of KP's innings , Indian Bowlers were relatively new to lnternational Cricket and that time was in decline phase in Indian Cricket. KP has a big stride also with he did easily negotiate the spin. But, Smith in pune, had to face one of the best spin combination of Ash and Jaddu. They don't give anything free. You have to earn from them. That's what Smith in pune on a rank Turner. Kudos to Sir Don Steve Smith.

The fact that part time leg spinner goes on to become world no 1 is surreal story in cricket but then one match took everything that he had hope he comes back.. Today no one around the world would say that about kohli or most great players because majority of the people who watch the sport, they watch it for good cricket and people world over appreciate that. Kohli, AB, Smith, Williamson, their skills are admired and appreciated world over, regardless of their nationality. Smith is not a natural batsman like Tendulkar or Lara. But, he definitely is the smartest.
He is not a smartest dumb ass. Just his hand an eye coordination is better than most of the player and by default his unorthodox playing style helped his game to cover up main areas of his weakness .
Whenever fast short pitch deliveries and bounces bowl against him. He becomes clueless. Recently Warner has exposed him.

Well in a cricket Test match in a real game where you need mental toughness, batting technique, strong defense playing against spin and pace, turning, seaming and bouncing, and if you consider most of the batsman don't like to focus on ODI hundreds
if you consider the great players like Brian Lara, Sangakara, Jaques Kalis they didn't have much success rate in ODI as Test
