There are many about whom Harsha said that they protected their team but Brian Lara truly defines that phrase. He truly protected the west indies team during that period.
Ya apt only for Lara
Ohhhh god... Lara was just like God's gift to Cricket... The most talented and elegant batsman.... Undisputedly...
100
500, 400, 300, 200, 100 all this in his career.. GREATEST BATSMAN LARA..
LARA's 153 against AU is rated the 2nd best Innings of All time by Wisden. Shane Warne was dropped from AU team because Lara smashed him so badly in 1999 series.
Lara's first test century was 277, which bradman said that was the best test innings he saw..
When iam depressed, i watch Lara's 400 to re-energise myself...
That high back lift, the bat coming down like a sword, then u hear that beautifull bat sound, the ball flies to fence, his bat doing 180 degress full rotation... NO ONE CAN EVER BE LIKE LARA...
I don't care what any Indian or white person says Lara is the best batsman of all time. He can bat in any format and he is a champion. He did all that with a WI Board that hated him. Sachin would not have been able to deal with the pressure from the WICB had he been a playing for the West Indies because if he had gotten that treatment he would have left to play county cricket.
@@adamsamuel8593 I feel WI cricket Board was Run by Indian BCCI to make Lara retire ASAP ..U know the reason why..
@@Be_thechange not only lara, kallis, abd also, because they do not want competitors for Sachin and others.
@@Be_thechange
Yes even i think so...
Just take a look ..tendulkar scored only 17 centuries during 2004 to 2013 within 5 against bangladesh, and after tendulkar retired only two test played against bangladesh..its not required a rocket science iq to understand what was bcci up to back then..bcci just wanted to protect India's biggest brand so that millions of dollars business can be run under tendulkar face..
@@adamsamuel8593
Back in 2007 when mcgrath and warne got dr retirement I was wondering now who is going to stop lara because earlier that year he said that he will continue...but suddenly he announced his retirement after a rift with wicb..I never forget that day that "sport centre" interview..I was heartbroken and that year I stopped watching cricket 4m my mind, 4m then on I watch it like any other program...
How he use to read a game situation, targeting bowlers, intimidate opponent, how he use to maneuver the red cherry along his bat and wrist ,his exaggerating strock play, finding gaps, how he use to change his foot work according with the pace of the bowlers, converting an ordinary inning to an extraordinary...
.he was something truly spacial, something elemental, something everlasting, mesmerizing, breathtaking..
the very best, I am so grateful that i got to see him bat as a part of my childhood. I feel sorry for youngsters who only watch T20 cricket cause its just like shorts, quick fix , no substance, Cricket in the late 90s to the 2000s was the best and it started dying when IPL came
Exactly uploaded the video on 13th of April one day after (in 2004 ) when LARA became first to score 400 in a test innings ☺
Senior to Sachin! That Charisma n flair you'll get addicted to 😘 I'm a big Sachin fan.. I dint like lara just because I liked Sachin more during my school days.. I know how foolish I was.. Wow what a player. Just a treat to our eyes 😍😍
There are more foolish people now also as u were in your younger days..many of them does not like Lara for the pure fact that they like sachin..
same here..but viseversa to you..i don't like tendulkar till today..😂😂😂😂
@@arkamukherjee6802 These are the same kind of sentiments you would find expressed by fans of Federer who did not like Nadal for years but has since come to like and admire him. I guess the saying AGE BRINGS REASON is true for most people.
Simply amazing he was a master a treat to watch
Brian charles lara was the epitome of batsmenship . Lone warrior . I wish he played in a better batting lineup
Others may have performed more consistently or accumulated better statistics but of all the career summaries in this series, this is the most captivating - the 277 in Sidney, the Warwickshire streak of centuries in 1994, the 365, the 501, the 400. Then you add his magical dominance in the 1999 Australia series and the 2001 Sri Lanka series. I watched most of the Greats in this Castrol series but this one on BC Lara I have watched over and over. This story is most compelling of all. Thanks Harsha, no one can narrate it better.
'I made him to bowl like that'.......... What a player he was who actually played a bowler like Murali that way.... Brian Lara really a Wizard with a bat
Lara-Sachin rivalry.... only one of its kind where both appreciate each other.... no ego whatsoever
Finally the episode i was waiting for 😍😍😍😍 next up I'm waiting for Johnty Rhodes. Someone who gave the less talked site in Cricket a new look(fielding)
He definitely will feature here, the man who showed the importance of Fielding
One of the longest episodes in CAC....! Great one to watch..
Whenever I watch Harsha talks he made me more happier and he dramatise the story at its best..
Lara is a champion of champions
Wow..What a player he is..
When in full flow, none better to watch. Malleable hands and a mind that built innings with flair and imagination. That full flow of the bat mocking field placings and winning impossible games took the breath away and left the opposition applauding. Best player of spin bowling of all time. As cricket lover Robelinda2 said, "few have scored more, many have averaged more, but no one has entertained more."
Champion player. Guys like him, Sachin, ABD, Viv, Sir Gary are unique and will never be seen again.
Dhoni
Very well said... But I think everyone you named except him has given us a similar kind of entertainment. But cricket is not just a game it's an art that we have learned from him.
Wow, nice one. I love watching Robelinda2's clips. He's done a great job bringing back the memories. And yes, no one has entertained more than the prince.
Most talented batsman I have ever seen in my life. Sachin fan here. Lara can't be described in words.
Agree fully. Loved tendulkars technique and longevity, but Lara at his best was a different beast. Mindblowing, and i even cheered him against India!!
@@IITianProudIndian abd is also same
Thank u for accepting the truth..
100 percent agree with u bro.. m a sachin fan.. bt lara was very stylish and special
Brain Lara should come during Ipl
And be coach
Teams like RR and RCB
Just imagine
Virat and abd with the great brain Lara 😍🤩
Virat and and are already legend 😀😀

Whenever i heard u Harsha Sir..i fee that i am watching this or any Video ...like 1 st time...For me U R "VOICE OF CRICKET'..Thanks...
His batting was just like" that spacial late- teenage one sided love, that perfect love story which was never written where everything happened in our imagination"...😂😂😂
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
want more more videos, truly inspiring. Hey Harsha keep going
This video gave me goosebumps
his 226 adilade oval vs australia where he surpassed to become highest test run getter was one of his best. Hes was up against warne, mcgrath, jason gillespi and kasporiwz
Probably the player with smoothest bat flow.
688 in 3 matches ....wow simply great
Against one of the best bowlers Murali
And 2 decisions were wrong. Given wrongly out on 75 and 40. imagine how much more he would have scored if they were not given out. Lara is delight, lara is hope, lara is courage under fire, lara was the abhimanyu we wished won and not killed, lara is sportsmanship ( a walker when he knows he is out unlike many cheat greats ), lara is flair, mental strength and talent - period. Lara is unpretentious. And when all the greats are on song and we have a race for best batsman, Lara beats them by miles in class, method, match awareness, mental toughness, flair and talentttttttttttt. Simply the best. Any ranking begins only after his name.
@@mohammadfaruk644
And he was not giving out at 93 but he walk off in that same series..
@@@kunalsingh3121, true Viv was and is, definitely the King. Lara the prince. Your heart always goes for the prince you see. Viv came in like a boxer. Lara, the diminutive man came in when all the foxes were to hound him and we'd think can the prince survive and surmount these pack of wolves. Brings out the genius this man, makes them bleed, cut, get hammered and reaches the post.
Trinidad world boss
I like the joy Harsha gets and how his eyes lit up whenever there is talk about Brian Lara. ..he is my hell fav player ...Lara just a magician along with Sachin ... both are my favorite 😍
one part missing, sachin-lara rivalry. and the best thing about the rivalry was the respect they showed for each others' abilities.....
I'm literally a fan of his BACKLIFT of bat. Unbelievable 🔥🔥🔥
Want a video on Arjuna Ranatunga..Probably one of the greatest captains to have played the game.....One of the greatest protector the game has seen...
Hasha, born to call Cricket.
Someone had rightly said:
When you want to view picture perfect batting (or in a word flawless), give me Sachin Tendulkar.
When the pitch is a minefield, give me Rahul Dravid.
But when you want to chase down even 400 in the final innings of the test against the best bowling attack, give me Brian Lara.
Greatest batsman ever was Sir Viv Richards but Lara definately comes second in that list, his batting style will always be unmatched and that bat lift before every shot was something else, his innings against Australia in 4th Innings is the best ever in test matches with all due respect to other innings against that bowling lineup when wickets are falling and falling and he went on and on
The story about Lara's 501 was said by Mark Nicholas.
I've been waiting for this one for some time now. Greatest I've seen play live after the little master.. oh yes Brian, you did entertain...
Then you haven't seen lara if you say after Sachin...he was way way better than Sachin..
Lara had a higher peak but sachin was more consistent :)
Lara actually better than sachin, lara playing whole of his carrer fast, bouncy pitch but Lara also greatest player of spin he scored 688 runs in 3 tests vs srilanka in srilanka but Sachin struggled to face Glenn mcgarath, and also 150+ bouncy ball, remember 2007 wc vs srilanka how Tendulkar bowled by Fernando, also Tendulkar most of the matches played in India which is slow, flat pitches no help for fast bowler so easy to score more runs in India rather than in westindies
@@bharatbhusans593 Mat Inns NO Runs HS Ave BF SR 100 ,50
In Australia 20 38 4 1809 241* 53.20 3067 58.98 6 7
in SA 15 28 3 1161 169 46.44 2348 49.44 5 3
in Eng 17 30 1 1575 193 54.31 2917 53.99 4 8
These are tendulkar's numbers in and against AUS, ENG,SA and the only one id say you could call a blemish is his performance against sa even then 46 is still a great average. so dont talk shit when you don't know your stats kid.
1. Sachin was the only player to have 40+ average in every test playing country(Afghanistan didn't play in his time)
2. Sachin was far more adept at changing across formats. Lara was only a red ball genius.
3. Lara's milestones are more of individual brilliance rather than of a match-winnning nature(if you score 400* or 501* in 4 days, you're not really helping your team. By contrast, Hayden's 380 won Australia the match)
4. Lara struggled against Indian spinners in the 'dusty tracks'. He averages about 20 here. As did Ponting.
Most importantly, Lara himself set the debate of the better batsman straight years ago.
@@rishiaa4999 lara struggles against indian spinners in the dusty tracks are you kidding me btw how many test matches did lara played in india? only 3.
He averaged 33 in india and he walked off when he was about to score a century in india just like gilchrist in 2003 world cup semifinal.
I know lara had a bad record against india but he had played very less test matches in india .
Lara is greatest player of spin he scored 688 runs in 3 tests vs srilanka in srilanka with likes of muralidharan on dusty tracks.
@@parikshitrao4208 hey u 46.0 avg in sa player like him is not the best avg vs sa,and what is the average vs w.i in w.i and also nz and also pak before 2003 and if Sachin is great why not score 300 in test cricket, you idiot every great player scored 300 run in test cricket
213 is the best innings even he himself rated that as his best innings..for me, he is the greatest batsman of his era no matter how many he scored, how much he averaged etc..if I have to watch someone bat, it's none other than the genius, price, flamboyant, devastating BC LARA..sachin fans should see and listen to the numbers that harsha has specified..
Yeah srikanth the legend says so it has to be right . How many centuries he has scored in India ? What's his average in India ? You are nothing but a blind sachin hater
@@GurvinderSingh15 I have answered to this question many times in various other videos.
Future kids maybe gonna compare him to rishab pant
@@GurvinderSingh15
Lara played only 3 test in India.
Does it matter? He scored 688 runs in 3 test against murali in SL.
He scored 6 test tons including 213,132,213,153,100,122,226 against McGrath.
He scored 400 against the same bowling line up which beat Australia for the first time in 16 years and regain ashes.
He scored 745 runs in England.
Scored 8 consecutive tons in English county back in those days.
He also scored 501.

he needs to come india and coach weak teams like delhi and RR...
But he does not coach any team
Great cricketers very rarely make great coaches.
Tendulkar was a pure genius. Lara was something else that only god knows what.
FINALLY!!!!!
Brian Lara is the best Betsman of the world
The way harsha speaks looks more of singing! What a voice
Brian Lara vs England. A story for the ages.
Undoubtedly Lara is the most naturally talented batter.
Top 5 five all-time best. My #1
I can watch this video in loop. A true genius and a player who never got his due because of a spiriless team. His graceful cover drives, pull shots, square cuts, late cut shots were absolute delight to watch. We are lucky enough to watch him play and learn from him.
Lara was a tremendous player. Lot of people will never give him the credit he deserves because they are always focused on sachin. But Lara was such a class batsman who won West Indies tests single handedly with a relatively mediocre team. Always a champ.
This video gave me Goosebumps THE GREATEST OF ALL TIME PERIOD...!!
next time please feature richard hadlee.
Prince lara ❤️
When Harsha sir talking his mouth dropping 🍯 honey in his mouth
The GOAT- the greatest batsman the World has ever seen- The Prince of TNT- Brian Charles Lara
The best test batsman I ever saw
Damn he was just ridiculously awesome
There will never be another Lara
Sheer genius in his craft
From an Indian
This tribute is so well-worded. Appropriate for a criceter of Lara's stature.
One special note of thanks to the script writer (probably Harsha Bhogle himself).... to mention the name of Everton Weekes among the pantheon of WI batting greats.
Another feel-good monent is when Harsha talks about Lara's upright sportsmanship. While I personally feel that there are a few moments of on-field flare-up-s of Lara (*just* a few) but he was quite a role model for abour 99% of his career. (I must add here that Tendulkar's on-field conduct was just amazingly good... absolute tops).
It's simply tragic that most of the viewers had forgotten about the greatest innings tat genius had played
Lara is a genius
In the 90's he had a great ODI record but he later sacrificed for his team's sake.
Kindly make video of Castrol Active champion - Alastair Cook
To benefit and for the betterment of younger players brain Lara kind of sacrifice ed his odi career a top order batsman started coming at number 5 similarly what MSD did to his batting
Proud to say im a fan of lara for more than 15 yrs.... from my childhood...
Super star
I can listen Harsha sir throughout the day .
Lara is simply better than Sachin !!!
Players like lara should be engaged with under 14s and groom west indian talent for the next generation.
yeah but Sachin is better 😊😊
Lara and vir.shewag is more better than Sachin in test match cricket,in one day they both are equal,
Lol....Sachin never even crossed 900 points in ranking in both test and odi. Never could even get 250+ in test and never could win even a series in Aus , Sa
@@VenkateshNair neither lara won a series in sa.

WHEN SOMEBODY ASKED WITH SACHIN ABOUT BEST BATSMAN THEN SACHIN TOLD LARA IS THE BEST TO WATCH BUT WHEN ANYBODY ASKED WITH LARA ABOUT BEST BATSMAN THEN LARA REPLIED SACHIN .............WHAT IT MEANS ?
IT MEANS BOTH ARE GENIOUS LARA AND SACHIN ONLY THEIR TECHNIQUE IS DIFFERENT .
SACHIN IS CLASSICAL AND STYLISH BATSMAN AND HE CAN PLAY EVERY TYPE OF BOWLING AND EVERY TYPE OF SITUATION .
WHERE LARA IS DOMINATING PLAYER .HE ALWAYS DOMINATE BOWLER AND NOBODY CAN STOP HIM WHEN HE WAS IN FULL FLOW .LARA NEVER THINK THAT WHO IS THE BOWLER INFRONT OF HIM AND WHAT IS THE SITUATION OF MATCH .HE MADE RUN IN FULL FLOW EITHER AGAINST GLENN MCGREATH ,DONALD AND WASIM AKRAM OR MURALI AND SHANE WARNE .
I SALUTE BOTH OF THEM LARA AND SACHIN BUT LARA IS LARA
IN MY OPINION IF LARA PLAYED LIKE SACHIN INNINGS IN TEST AND ONEDAY THEN LARA HAVE MORE RUN THAN TENDULKAR AND CENTURY .
Brian Lara career could have been much more better in the odi circuit also just because he chose to promote the young sters he started as an topp order player ended up batting at no 5 6 even his last innings come to downfall because of his partner the runout because of a certain Marlon Samuels
One of the greatest artist of all time, Words are not enough to describe him, He has positioned himself at the Zenith

Ipl doesnt need australia ,nz or english players but south african and west indians are irreplaceable.
I was fortunate to see 75% of his games as a little boy growing up on tv , there is no other innings like. That 153 not out I repeat no other test innings
