Had he continued his focus and consistency of the days of 1993-1995 he would have challenged Bradman in the list of all time greats.
I still remember back in 1997, in an article in Sportstar where there was a comparison between Sachin and Lara.
It had mentioned, Lara's fall from greatness has allowed Tendulkar to take the top spot (rather Sachin reaching Lara's highs).
Lara didn't handle his unprecedented stardom well and didn't do justice to his peerless ability.
He should have averaged 70s in Tests and over 50 in ODI's but he just squandered, allowing batsmen of lesser ability to be comparables.

Lara is far greater than Bradman.

Lara’s personal average don’t do justice to his capabilities! He should be averaging 60 plus in tests with at least 40 plus test centuries and he should have opened in Odis like tendulkar because he was not afraid to attack from the beginning , his sixes were big enough for the power plays . Even a mishit would benifit !
