CATCHING different species of MANTIS SHRIMPS in Hawaii!

In this episode of Saltwaters Hawaii, I go out on the flats to search for Mantis Shrimp. I caught many different species of Mantis shrimp. I released all the mantis shrimp I caught today, but next time Im thinking of keeping one in my aquarium.

Very cool video! I caught a few O’io on that flat the past two years at Christmas time on vacation with mantis shrimp flies. I’ll have to look closer as I wade next time!

Interesting! Do you have a photo Gallery of these Amazing critters in our Hawaiian islands, I’ve seen some larger ones about 10”-16” long in some other pacific islands.
Some locals there catch them for meals and some of them lost fingers etc.

I remember going to the shallow parts of the beach or when the ocean is at low tide and I would scour the rocks for mantis shrimps that I could put into my observation tank and I would have around 6 or 7 and sometimes up to 10 because I would wake up early to find them while the water is low along with other fish and return them if they're still alive.
