nope, sparkling water is optional but I do recommend sparkling water because I personally find it is more refreshing and just gives it that extra kick. whereas flavoured flat water to me is just not as delicious

Yup it carbonates the water making it fizzy! It was a gift but you can find at department stores ☺️
