SURFERS SCORE!! - Rare sandbar forms, Northern NSW

- It takes large southerly swells to move the sand up along the Northern NSW Coastline, particularly where there is no sand-pumping. This beach can have little sand and be a rock-filled cove for months on end. When the sands return, it often starts with a large sandbar around the back of Norries Headland.
When a large swell comes through with offshore winds, it creates the perfect spot for Surfers to tow in and jump off skis onto the long walls. There's often a strong Southerly current that makes it impossible to paddle, no matter how fit you are.
