If you wanted to experience her "dark" take on classics, better choices might have been Jingle Bells, Frosty the Snowman, O Holy Night or All I want for Christmas is you or, from the previous album, O Come O Come Emmanuel. All wonderful for an "alternative" approach to Christmas music. As you rightly said, Tarja's voice is amazing, whatever she sings and we are always happy to see more reactions to it! Thank you!
Thank you! This song titled Dark Christmas is ironically probably the least darkest song on the album😄 But I love it! It's Tarja's own composition. Other good ones (and darker ones) from the same album are Frosty the Snowman and Jingle Bells rock and also my favourite from it is O Holy Night. In Finland Christmas is quite different than in the US. It's more of a quiet thing and between your family. You get to relax and quiet down. And it indeed is very dark time of the year since there is not much light. With Dark Christmas (this was her 2nd dark Christmas album), Tarja wanted to showcase the other side of Christmas, the ones who don't get joy out of it, the ones who have lost people important to them and feel like the meaning of Christmas was lost along with them. A lot of the older Finnish Christmas songs are actually quite dark and/or sad. My all time favourite Christmas song is Varpunen Jouluaamuna (Sparrow on a Cristmas morning). And Marko Hietala did a really good version of it with Raskasta Joulua (Heavy Christmas).

😂 I agree with you, she's aging like a fine wine. Very graciously, also I think she's looking her best now and she's approaching her 50's! This song is very atmospheric, the whole album is cinematic, there were actually some sessions on movie theatres where people could watch and listen to all videos of this album in big screen and high quality sound. Must have been a chilling experience. What a voice, indeed!!

Dark Christmas is the only song written by Tarja that is part of the album "Dark Christmas". The other songs are covers of very famous Christmas songs but with the dark and sinister twist that only Tarja is able to do so well. The album is amazing and my favourite song is "Oh Holy Night" and I would really like to watch your reaction to that.
Oh this is so surprising and awesome that you did reaction to her from her dark Christmas album last year. I knew you would love it Anastasia and yes so beautifully done every song in this album some are heavier than others and I just love it. My favorite from the album is this one and frosty the snowman. By the way in some of the songs where the girls children choir is in it and shown one of the girls is her daughter. Tarja is up there with Simone in the chills she gives me with her voice simply they are the best!!

Tarja and Marko first reunited there in 2016, singing Ave Maria together. I believe he and Floor sang another Ave Maria together the next year
