I was playing alot of games online in late 90’s… msn gaming zone had chatroom style servers with boxes to click on as “rooms” until occupancy was filled, then host of that room would hit a “launch” button, bottom portion of window had a public chat… was ahead of it’s time back then.
n 1.1, we played in clubs in Russia, and since version 1.3, I have already played Dual-Up on the servers of my city's provider in distant Siberia, the ping was about 100, but the shooting was much better than in the new CS 2, in version 1.6 we already played 100 mbps, we had a new provider in 2002 and I was the administrator of those servers, held local championships, connected the broadcast and then uploaded demos to the ftp server.
Yeah the jumping deagle shots of 1.3 makes me giggle a bit. It was 1.5 that set many of the norms and standards of Counter-Strike that lives on even today 20 years later.
in the 1.3 if im not wrong , you could see the barrel of the awp in the first zoom. the thing i would never forget about 1.3 and 1.5 was the Vip assassination maps
Really enjoy watching the focus of the game being on the gun fight vs. the perfect utility and strat execution. People today LOVE to cream themselves while telling other people about how much of a tactical, team-based game counter-strike is. Sure, it IS that, but it's also this: shooting your opponent before they shoot you. The game would benefit from a significant reduction in utility availability/usage.
As far as raw aim goes, cs always has and always will be the game where it is paramount. Doesn't take many shots to put someone down so it all counts a hell of a lot more than shitty games like cod.
Can you tell me how to play the demo from 1.0-1.5 version into CS 1.6 ?? I just download the coL demo player but I have no idea how to make it work tbh
Hot take: Competitive and matchmaking systems killed the magic of games like this. I remember being like 9 years old and going to Internet cafes in my home town of Los Angeles and playing in HUGE lan games with like 30 players at a time. I was TERRIBLE but I had so much fun! It allowed me to experience gaming during its golden age, and I would return weekend after weekend to play and surround myself with a fun and immersive environment. Now adays, a kid would get kicked and never have a chance playing in lobbies with more serious players. In the old days, we never had that mentality, it was just about fun, and passing the time. If you were good, you were just the local legend at the cafe, and if you were really good, your name would even get written on the wall!
those were old clanbase settings, they would play 2 games/maps and the first team to get 25 rounds (2x MR12) wins. this is most likely the only demo he recorded or published.

this game was based on real aiming. cs2 today is based on random luck.... the hitboxes in the early days were better than today . miss the old times. life was simple .
Because they're all cheating. The reason they all have inhuman aim is because it IS inhuman aim. Make them use equipment provides by the venues and watch all their skill levels go down the toilet
Mainly because they know if they dont they will get run over. They know one player can't even take them 1v1, they have to kill off a rival before they rush anything.

I remember way back 2003-2007 iwas just 10 to 14 years old. That was my highest prime. I destroyed alll the top players in our place even adults. I destroyed them 1v1 ot even 1v3 . And my sniper skill is insane i can do a pretty good sniping accuracy without sniper crossair dot. My sniper scope is just round without a dot and lines. And i dont use any hack. Just pure skill. Miss those days.
The map is imbalanced, but it evens out if both teams switch sides once. There should still be maps like these, they're a lot of fun. Office comes to my mind as well, and Assault.
It has a recoil... But the spray was just predictable and not random hit like in 1.6. I think this demo confused us how the recoil looked but in game, it's a bit different

The hitbox, the spray, the movement and the AWP movement were different compared to 1.6.
