The whole open-top manual disc loading feature is actually quicker and more efficient imo. Also is the system catches the YLOD you can actually get out whatever disc was in the drive unlike the previous models where YLOD prevented the system from ejecting discs
you can get the disc out from ylod, you just hold power and eject for 5 seconds from stand by and it goes into fan test mode where you can keep tapping the eject button and get it out.
You do know that with the super slim every time you put the disk in and you take it out, not only will the pressure of it pulling out will cause to scratch the center, but it will also wear away the disk drive. PS3 slim is much, much, better.
Ben Garcia I have multiple consoles that have disk drives like this one. Diskss don't get messed up this way. But disk drives of course wear out eventually.
I just bought the superslim and I have to say i'm really suprised with how much I love it! I don't barely hear any noise and the disk tray is suprisingly fun and not as cheap as it looks.
I really like the look of this one. I never really liked the slot loader models, simply because they could mess up and eat your disks of they were experiencing issues. This is a nice, simple way to load disks, similar to the DC or PS2 slim models. Very nice.

I'm tired of the bad ports, and crashing, etcetera, so last week (I'm waiting for it to arrive), I bought a PS3 Super Slim 12GB Console (New) for $200, a vertical stand for $30 and a 1TB WD SSHD for $130. That's $360 in total... The 500GB model here in Aus is still $400 alone. That's a pretty good deal, if you ask me. ^_^ In a few months, I'll purchase a PS4.
I can't afford to get the PS4 Slim and the Xbox One S because they are pretty expensive and they cost $399. My PS3 original slim console doesn't work anymore so I decided to get the Xbox 360 instead of the PS3.

Got this model on Saturday and I really do love it. Some people say the older models are better but a PS3 is a PS3 on the end of the day, I also got The Last of Us bundled with it too which is a blooming good game.

Sony included the disc opener to operate like that for a reason. It saves power for the system's benefits. But I guess it's so essential to have electricity insert a disk halfway in for you like the previous systems for some people..

I bought my ps3 slim used like almost 4 years ago now, and it has been working perfectly through thick and thin, even after playing it for 30 hours straight at one point. My opinion, the most durable and long lasting PS3 is the first slim. Kinda like how the teeny tiny ps2 slim was sooooo much more durable and efficient than the original ps2
Honestly I like that Sony bundles AV cords with their consoles. Because it's always nice to just have it in case of an emergency, like broken TV or your HDMI cords fail on you and that's happened to me a few times before.
Online multiplayer is free on PS3. But you can buy Playstation+ membership for some extra features like downloading free games. And the downloads change every month.
I really like the PS3 Super slim. It has a lot of built in memory. And you loads a lot faster than the older PS3 models. I like the way it opens easy without having to be plugged in. Thanks Playstation.

Excluding the slim's disc drive, I think the super slim has always looked better. It's twice the durability of the other models. No worrying about discs getting stuck, over-heating (because it uses less power) and its slimmer, and weighs less. No one speaks about how shiny it looks.
I just ordered the 250 model from GameStop. Due to the corona virus I’ll be picking it up with at door pickup for the first time ever. I never had to do that but today I guess ima have to. Theres no harm in getting a HDMI cable from Poundland if you haven't got one at hand, they work rather well. The only time mine was quite loud was when I started GTA V for the first time on it. After that, its been quiet as a whisper. Avoid the 12gb model, Get the 500gb model.
I have my FAT 40GB PS3 (upgraded HDD to 120GB) for 5 years and guess what. No YLOD. Still use it and still runs like a champ. It only has two USB ports though.
Its like they are going back in time lol, the original PS3 is shiny, has the futuristic looking letters, and has more features like the 4 usb slots and backwards compatibility. I would rather get a cheap ebay model of the first PS3 then this model. Plus you can change out he hard drive in the original ps3 for a 500 gb hard drive

DUDE. That disk thing happened to me too. I moved my Xbox a little to the right and it puts a DEEP scratch around the entire circumference of my disk. I'm going to buy the PS4, and I suggest you do to. I want some of the games that are only on PS3, but Sony said inFAMOUS and Uncharted will eventually be put on the PS Store.
Repair company got me one of these for £100 after my 'fat' model yellow lighted. Not much change except for the ps2 compatabilty, which doesn't matter a huge amount when you can get 2nd hand ps2s for £15. I kinda like the mechanical loader. It just feels cool.
If you don't need to play any PS3 games right know, I would probably go for the PS4. Since Sony wants to implement Gaikai on PS4, making it capapable of streaming PS1, 2 and 3 games, you would probably get more out of your money. There are two things to consider. 1. It will take quite some time until you can play older PS titles, since the Gaikai thing might not be available at the start. 2. The facts about the PS4 aren't set in stone yet. Lots of things can still change at this point.

Sony isn't Apple. Their business model is completely different. The initial consoles that are released are slightly more pricey to recoup the cost of development. The first few million consoles that were sold made no profit. The reason they down grade is to grab more market share. Their aim to have as many PS3's out there which in term means they sell more games. The cheaper superslim is a shot at grabbing the market share before they release the PS4 which would take another 3-5 years.

Last weekend my Fat 60GB PS3 achieved the Infamous YLOD-Mode, wich I am VERY sad about atm. So thinking now to buy the 500GB PS3 Super Slim, Black or White, not totally sure yet. My Fat PS3 lasted about 6.5 years (bought it around Oct./Nov/ 2006) and had alot of fun with in that time, but all good things eventually come to an end sadly, no way denying that fact. On the other hand, i'm glad it did so now (in a way), then when it would do so when the PS4 gets released later this year.

It looks much better than the ps3 slim. the ps3 slim looked stupid, but this looks really cool. it has two shiny ends, which reminds me of the first ps3, and I really like the ridges in the middle. definitely gonna buy the red one with the god of war games.

Also like the guy on the left i had a fat ps3 from when it was launched till beginning of this year when it red lighted on me. i now have a slim ps3. Still nice.

They did it to prevent breaking of the disc and to fix the CD from geting stuck when inserting it in the ps3, common error for the old ps3.

Sony isn't Apple. Their business model is completely different. The initial consoles that are released are slightly more pricey to recoup the cost of development. The first few million consoles that were sold made no profit. The reason they down grade is to grab more market share. Their aim to have as many PS3's out there which in term means they sell more games.
The cheaper superslim is a shot at grabbing the market share before they release the PS4 which would take another 3-5 years.
I went to Gamestop today planning to get the Assasin's Creed 3 Bundle of this Playstation. Even though I am shocked and a little disappointed about the "cheap flap" as he says, I am a fan of old school, and my historical love for Playstation doesn't allow me to get angry no matter what anyone says! It's the Sony Code, so I think I'm buying the Assassin's Creed III, 30day free PlaystationPlus, 500GB Black slim slick old school Playstation 3!!!
I think that the appearance doesn't really matter.For me,it is better because it takes up less room,and it is easier to use.About gameplay,i have tried all the three models and the super slim gameplay is the same,maybe a bit better.Just my opinion.

My mom just bought me this one today! Glad i am watching this review. I still have my fat ps3, but it died on me :( it got over heated.
Got a super slim looks hell slick
Last weekend my Fat 60GB PS3 achieved the Infamous YLOD-Mode, wich I am VERY sad about atm.
So thinking now to buy the 500GB PS3 Super Slim, Black or White, not totally sure yet.
My Fat PS3 lasted about 6.5 years (bought it around Oct./Nov/ 2006) and had alot of fun with in that time, but all good things eventually come to an end sadly, no way denying that fact.
On the other hand, i'm glad it did so now (in a way), then when it would do so when the PS4 gets released later this year.
i unfortunately bought the super slim the day before the ps4 came out☹

you need to reset the video settings you need to hold the power button, it beeps once when you first hit the button and then will beep again thats when you let off

I remember when my dad got me my PS3 on Christmas and the game that came with it was God of War:Ghost of Sparta and I remember taking turns with my cousin.
i went through 3 of the older slims in 2 years and the latest one just broke on me so i bought this version in the hope it lasts longer
