It’s tough man. Like honestly I get jealous because these “amv editors” just throw shit together and put no work into it and get millions of views and the editors that actually put work (like me) get no views and it just sucks. Maybe one day people will appreciate actual good quality AMV’s instead of the trash that these other “editors” put out.

Yeah this has always been a real problem. Honestly not sure if it'll ever get better. Having all of these bad AMV's be the first thing that pops up in a search also gives the AMV community a bad name and may make people think the entire community only makes stuff like that. Good video divine, would like to see a part 2 for this ^^
The most annoying thing is sometimes you check the comment section for this fast-forwarded edit and you'll see people calling the video the best amv ever or he's the best editor ever
AMV community is so complicated. I can spend a month working on a AMV flawlessly putting together scenes so good you'll have to watch the full anime again to know that the story didn't go like that and yet those videos don't get as much views as AMVs I spent a few days on, though it's very satisfying when one of your videos gets 1k or more views
On a serious note, VOICE REVEAL!! Also I recognise that laughter anywhere! I wished I can spam the likes on this video hahaha. Divine exposed himself advertising hue. I think you have a very good point on the big youtubers being like the main influence for newer editors. Therefore you thrive to achieve that level of editing. Also there are others, who jump on the bandwagon for songs/anime/fanservice/lewd clickbaits and such. Because they see big channels doing it, so why shouldn't they? YESSS MKALIEZ need more exposure on that reset video!! MK and his brutal honesty XD Buuuuuuuuuuut the real question is procrastination of editors! This video has showed that valid point. Episode 2? Called it. TLDR: Many valid points. Good examples, Voice Reveals, Procrastinations. I need more of this.
Thank you for making this video. There are some AMVs that are just put together, being lazy, and see them reuse clips or taking clips from other creators. For me, I take clips of the shows, cut them, and edit them to match up with the music and the pacing of the song. Sadly my laptop is broken so I haven't been doing that lately, but I want to get back into it because it's quite exciting to create these types of videos. I hope to get back into it soon
As some one who has been editing AMVs since 2004 back in the day when Windows Movie Maker was the top tier editing program and AMV.org was the way to go before RUclips existed. I can understand your points. It is very frustrating being a small content creator seeing such bland AMVs get so many views over music that isn't even synced properly. I just got up to 1k subs despite putting such hard work and passion into my vids. Sure, my editing skills aren't up to par with a lot of content creators, but I try my best.
Bruhh this is soo accurate. But the thing is. Most of the newbies get a pass since they are new. But those who do this for years it's like... How? Whenever you do something for a long time you most likely try to do something different or try new things, but these "amv" dudes are cringe... It brings shame to the community.
Coming back after years of inactivity and being completely out of the loop, I really appreciate this discussion video. Glad to see not much has changed: passionate creators spend months on making short masterpieces and shitty amv's still get tons of views :^)

Really informative video. Especially for me that I'm starting with amv's it's really helpful to get others opinion about this subject. What about starting a community about as the creators and give feedback to one another about our videos, it can be a discord server or facebook group or whatever. I understand that for as small creators our goal is to get bigger in the platform, but I believe if we can cooperate with one another about the good for the community, in the end, we can improve ourselves. Divine because you made this video you have a say about my idea. Hope you see this comment and tell me your opinion :P Anyways great initiative to show this problem of the amv community. Keep it up!

Shit man, ion know. I don't really like amvs that don't tell some kinda story. Like if it's just song and scene, no rhyme or reason or nothing to really go on. I've done it before but, that was like 5-7 years ago and i can admit that that was lame. (I make all my edits story based these days btw.) I started making amvs for fun but also to be expressive, so it's become a thing of passion. Don't know if my current stuff is considered "good" by other amv creators, but i do try and improve every edit. I'm not trying to compete with anyone, i just wanna make expressive anime music videos. Didn't even know it was a competitive thing. My edits can be pretty sloppy or poorly timed due me using shitty editing apps but that's i got. I make all of em on my phone. Well at least till i can get a computer or something.
idk if anyone here knows about 69paths but he was really someone I looked up to in the amv community, he said his goodbyes and disappeared from the amv community 2 years ago or so.. but I really just miss him :,( he’s a big inspiration ❤️
I'm a small AMV maker, and yes my first video and stuff is CRUD but I just got some cool new editing software so the quality, transitions, and effects are going to be better! I do work hard on my videos like my record time for creating a video was in one day and I did it over like 10 hours. And what I think makes a great AMV is when the song matches the character (s) or situation portrayed IN the AMV
@@tchgs11zdok15 oh well thanks I try hard 🙇♀️ acctually I post an AMV every month and I'm having trouble picking my next song. Maybe you could help me out?
Lol wow, that's a big responsibility 😅, I'll have to think about it, anyway I'm gonna try, tho I have too know what is your exact kind and style of songs that you like to work with, also what the theme(the video) is, you have a theme idea already?
Divine Your question-My answer: EVERYTHING is wrong with the AMV Community, because every new AMV designer now uses genres and types of songs that have no compatibility with the anime or the character they try to make a tribute to. For example, you see a tribute to Sasuke Uchiha (who 95% of the anime community knows how dark and badass he is) and put the song "Don't Let Me Down from Chain Smokers", Really!?! The first and foremost problem is that AMVs have been purely based on the use of Rock songs from 1995 and until 2014. But after 2015 and the LOADS of complaints from fans that complained about designers not using any pop and rap songs in AMV building (which was mostly girls and black dudes), the sound quality and the video's credibility have both COMPLETELY fallen to smithereens! Also, AMV designers have also become very lazy in their editing because all they do is take the latest episode's content, without even changing the scenes' follow-up and upload it with a song in the background. That's it. There are very few AMV designers that connect with the anime and choose an amazing rock song based on feelings and a strong vibe to build their videos because these aspects take time and effort, instead they want to launch the content fast and gain the credits more efficiently, even if most people are too embarrassed to say what they actually think about the content of the video. I haven't seen a really great AMV video ever since the video "Bleach AMV - Red Let Go", which is an amazing video with greatly placed scenes and describes perfectly with compatible and rhythmic arranged scenes how Ichigo's strength elevated since training for his fight into the Soul Society and beating Byakuya Kuchiki! Another good AMV I saw was Naruto Vs Sasuke - Rise from the Ashes AMV by WarLux, which was a really great fit for these two amazing characters' battle and thoughts in the moment! Back to the subject, I haven't seen anything like this in WAY TOO LONG OF A TIME PERIOD and I am severely disappointed because the mistakes they do are too basic and can be easily repaired to at least build a semi-decent video! 1. ONLY use Rock songs as it was a tradition as well as an unwritten rule in the past! 2. Choose a signature rock song that does not already belong to a character already (this requires exhausting research), for example don't use Sasuke Uchiha AMV with the song My Demons, because that song already belongs to Killua Zoldyc from HunterXHunter in another AMV; or the song Feel Invincible, as it has already been decided to be a signature song for Bakugou Katsuki (My Hero Academia), and so on. 3. Don't be lazy when editing the fight scenes, especially if you intend to make a tribute video for a single favourite character, because Sasuke for example has a lot of fights and the video should include every single aspect of them presented in a certain point of the song, to describe the atmosphere of that moment in the fight using the song. Period.
