I don’t think they were being hard on you. I think Andrew was just trying to explain why sometimes things like this will unintentionally come across as racist. If someone sees your video and they know nothing about you, they don’t know your intentions. We know that actual racists sometimes make fun of Asians by mocking the accent so sometimes it’s hard for people to differentiate between that and something more light hearted. I think the intention when racists do that is to belittle Asians whereas your intention was making fun of yourself as a silly character obsessed with becoming a ninja. There’s a universe of difference there but some people just aren’t going to get it. I think that might be a better way of putting it than Andrew just pointing out the importance of context. I understand your perspective too. People are way too overly sensitive these days to a fault. Context is important but the context here was not meant as an insult to the Asian community.
