My buddy who is Mexican BTW. Sent me your video so long ago. HE CRACKS UP LAUGHING EVERYTIME WE SING THIS SONG. We were golfing the other day. And he started singing the song. He doesn't think it's racist. I don't think it is racist either. But here is a question for u. Would u or could u? Do the ninja song in front of an entire Asian audience? I think u would and could do it. Therefore if u can do something that is questionable on any situation. For example in front of an Asian audience. Then it is not racist in my mind...... Or how about this....... Could u or would you? Do it in front of an entire NINJA AUDIENCE?????? And are ninjas offended by this song??????? I do feel bad for the one Asian lady in the video however. She looks uncomfortable. Thanks for making people laugh and smile.
Hi Kurt! Great points you make! Haha I love picturing your friend singing it while you guys were golfing the other day. LOL To answer your questions, I actually DO sing it in front of and even WITH a bunch of Asians, some that I know and some that I only meet through friends that come to my event. They LOVE the song, and sing along and even dance with me to the song. I should upload footage of that. It's so cute and fun. Clearly they are not offended. I would gladly perform my song in front of an entire Asian audience, and yes, even an audience of real Ninjas. I think they would love it and think it's hilarious. As far as the Asian woman in the audience that night, she was new to the U.S. and barely spoke English at the time. She was shy and nervous in general. She was like a fish out of water. She wasn't offended. Maybe a tad uncomfortable in general being in a crowd and culture that she didn't know. I made sure to connect with her that night and give her some love. We've become good friends and she's been to many of my GoGirl seminars and events. She loves my funny RUclips videos. I love her. Her name is Fiona. She's even in one of my music videos on RUclips called "Star Stuff".
Thank you for your questions and comments. And you're welcome.. I'll continue on my mission of making people laugh and smile. Cheers!

Pretty sure santino was being facetious here and trolling everyone 😂...he dont care if she does an asian accent and it went over everyones head 😂
Santino often says wildly racist stuff on that podcast and says it's comedy. I don't see how this is different
I personally find the song hilarious. But in a “laughing at her and the ridiculousness of it existing” more than “laughing with her and appreciating it unironically.”
I am Asian, this is art, the poor Asian lady there, she might felt bad then but her whole presence there, her facial expression make this whole act a comedy gold. That’s the point.
Yeah the Asian babe in the background kinda did make it even more appealing and relevant. Part of the comedy in fact.

There was a facetious comment on the original video along the lines of “A genius like this comes along only once or twice in a generation” and I laughed at the seemingly obvious sarcasm, as this girl (whether racist or just ignorant) was certainly no genius. But now that I watch this video, it’s dawning on me that this actually is brilliant performance art. Mind blown.
I genuinely think that the song was crafted so perfectly that it manages to avoid even accidentally being racist. The whole song is an ironic parody of someone who is ignorant of Asian culture trying to emulate their perception of it. This should be clear when she talks about fighting with her credit card, using nunchucks while feeding ducks, and learning ninja kicks from Netflix. It goes well out of it's way in the text of the song to make it clear that in no way is she mocking Asian people, but she is mocking those who WOULD try to emulate/mock Asian culture without even understanding it. I think the song is brilliant and I think those two gentlemen from the podcast completely missed the subtext and got lost as soon as the accent came out. They did not listen to the song, only the voice. They simply found a reason to be offended immediately and clung to that, as most woke people do, when in reality they should be siding with her and realizing that the song is in fact condemning and mocking the very kinds of behavior they think they are scolding her for.
2:58 “it is not racist, you are just doing an asian voice »
Sure
But is doing a very offensive accent, assuming all asians talk like that, are ninjas and use nunchucks is?
She's trying to gaslight people. Her initial intent was to humiliate that asian lady, and now she's trying to act innocent

You know I've been following this story for a while and find it really fascinating. You wanna know what I think? I think you got the self awareness of Michael Scott or Pierce Hawthorne when it comes to racial humour. This is coming from someone who genuinely likes your song and thinks that its catchy as hell, and now an extra layer of comedy is being created by how seemingly oblivious you are.
You're using the topic of race as a vehicle for your comedy because it's convenient, simply put its much easier to get a laugh when using a silly accent because silly accents are funny. I think the criticism coming your way derives from the fact that when comedians successfully broach the dicey topic of race, there's usually another added layer of commentary or satire to justify it. For example in Borat, Sacha Baron Cohen (a white guy I may add), plays up a ridiculous middle eastern stereotype in order to make fun of how absurd the stereotype is, while adding some great commentary of how America perceives other cultures. The writers of South Park do the same thing, constantly creating offence and controversy while coming out unscathed because they usually justify the offence in some way. These are two examples of comedians who use the topic of race to often point out how idiotic racism is, and I'm sure there are many others.
Your video on the other hand, is just stupid. Entertaining, brilliantly catchy, but stupid. It's just one big mockery of an asian accent, with the side effect of (in my opinion) celebrating a racist stereotype instead of making fun of it. And what Santino said is true, context matters. And your very existence as a white woman telling a race related joke IN AMERICA unfortunately alters how the audience is gonna perceive your joke. Ryan Higa essentially does the same bit as you, and it lands for reasons I don't fully understand. I think it may be that as an asian guy he's reclaiming the power over the same mockery he probably received for years by just being self depreciating and clever about it. You mentioned how you add a level of self depreciation in your video, and maybe there's some commentary about some white stereotype that I missed but if thats the case it does not come across that way at all. It really just comes across as you initially mocking yourself in order to give yourself a hall pass to freely mock others.
A final thing I wanna add is that you pointed in the podcast how you don't want to be put into a creative box, but this isn't the case. It's not really true that white comedians can't make jokes about race, because some successfully do so all the time by being skillful about it. A problem I had with you in that interview is that instead of being curious about your missteps you seemed to dig your heels in and imply that society should just adapt to your sense of humour. And while instances of unjust cancellation and oversensitivity do exist, I do not think you have the right to claim that this is one of them. The criticism you are getting is really an opportunity to sharpen your comedy by becoming more self aware about how people manage to successfully follow through on racial humour.
I know this was a bit of an essay but this topic is fascinating to me. And I still think that you are a very talented with lots of good work ahead of you. Hopefully you take the feedback here well.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts on this. I'm glad you like my song.
You think I'm oblivious. I disagree, but we can agree to disagree. Now, my blonde "character" is MEANT to be oblivious. Just like Steve Carell's "character" Michael Scott is MEANT to be oblivious. That's part of why MOST people think it's funny. It's supposed to be cringe. It's interesting how so many people can't grasp that. But that's ok. My goal in life isn't to please everyone or to educate every woke virtue signal warrior on the difference between light-hearted COMEDY and racism.
You say I use the topic of race as a vehicle for comedy because it's convenient and easy to get a laugh. I've made hundreds of RUclips videos. And I do my own stupid stunts. I get injured a lot. I work hard, but knowing that I'm going to spread some joy and make (most) people laugh is what keeps me going. In THIS video and song, I chose to do the accent because my friend who impersonates Mr. Chow from "The Hangover" wanted to be in a video with me. He sounds just like the actor in the movie and he's hilarious. I thought it would be funny if my "dumb blonde" character thinks that part of becoming a ninja like Chow is to sound like him. I think that's pretty funny, and so do millions of others. Again, I'm not trying to please everyone because first of all that's impossible, and second, I would be selling out on following my heart and being my true authentic self. Everyone is walking on eggshells these days and it's no fun. And some of us are tired of it.
I love all people, as long as they have a good heart. All races, all walks of life. I make silly jokes about myself, and about a lot of things, always with a good intention. Am I perfect? No. I make mistakes. But this isn't one of them. The people who don't like it can turn the channel, or go out there and make an ACTUAL difference with unifying people and ending racism. I'm opposite of a racist. I'm very self-aware. (ME not my character) Want to know who I am? You can see some of my tireless work at GoGirlWW.com and GoGirlMGZ.com. I've spent years and any money I make to create content to empower girls and women globally, of all races and walks of life. I've had ups and downs. I've been so broke I've slept in my car. I'm second of twelve children and it wasn't always easy as a child when we went through financial hardships. But we teamed up as a family, worked hard and laughed a lot and told jokes and kept happy hearts through all the ups and downs.
People like Bobby Lee and Andrew Santino, and countless of my haters, want to blindly claim that I'm a white rich entitled blonde, without even seeking the truth. Now THAT in my opinion is RACIST. And all of the people who initially attacked me and my song cost me my business at the time and my stream of income. The death threats and the evil messages all because they didn't like that I sang with an accent, and they justify THEIR actions. WOW. Just wow.
I'm over being run over by these heartless haters who glorify ruining the lives of others. And you think THEY'VE never made a mistake? It's sad. But many people see through this nonsense and are starting to hold the cancel mob accountable.
I'm glad you like my song and think it's catchy. And thank you again for your feedback. Hopefully my respose helps you understand a little bit more about where I'm coming from, and provide some clarification and insight. I'm actually gearing up to film "I Want To Be Neenja" THE MOVIE. I have the most amazing Asian friend with the best personality and sense of humor who will be playing the role of Chow. I think you'll love it. And I think even most of the haters won't be able to help but love it too.
Cheers!

Is the song racist? As an Asian listening to it...yes, it feels pretty racist. But I also believe it is possible that Jen did not have racism in her heart when she wrote the song or when she performs it. My biggest gripe is having someone like Andrew Santino condemn Jen while he is the biggest racist in comedy right now. He always cackles at his own jokes with Asian accents and jokes made at an Asian's expense. And he's done it from the start until this very day. So are Andrew Santino and/or Jen Murphy racist? It is hard to answer. I feel racism when I hear this song. And I definitely feel racism any time Andrew does an Asian voice. I just don't like the pot calling the kettle racist. And before anyone pushes back against me...look at it this way. I can't go around making racist jokes, complete with voice acting and improv, and get away with it. Someone would call me out for being racist...and rightly so. So, that's all I'm doing here. But both Andrew and Jen will find ways to profit off this behavior.
Its not offensive til the non-Asian kids sing this song to your Asian child at school.
one word, yikes
It's still hilarious to me that the thing Santino's most popular for is him trashy Bobbies mom while crossing his eyes and mimicking her in an over the top broken english asian voice. "I can do it because of context" Then turning around talking to this woman and literally never asking for context and over talking her when she was trying to give context without being asked to. His context is he's friends with Bobby so its alright if I do it. He's acting like a white guy that has one black friend that says some racist shit then says "it's cool I'm friends with Jamal " Such a clown
Exactly, it's pathetic. Elitist, gatekeeping bs. He thinks he can be a gatekeeper for the Asian community because he has one Asian friend who he routinely makes fun of. What a douche.
I freaking love it!
All these people's opinion don't matter. Bring the Asian woman from the original video. If she says it's not offensive, it's said. She's the one most affected by this whole ordeal.
The song was made for comedy by an entertainer "comedic-comedian" youtuber and she got the woke-hammer 🤔
All very good points. After watching the origin of this video, there were no negative intentions. There are a lot of people who search out the negative. I was one of them.
When is the Jewish song coming out?! That one with the Yiddish accent. Hopefully she publishes it.
LOL. It can't be any more edgy than the Frank Zappa song though right?

Thing is that anyone can want to be a ninja. This is about an Asian (we don’t know what type), let’s say Chinese…wants to be a ninja and chop chop in China town. So it can still be “accurate”.

This song is so amazing! Thank you for making it!

If you are really a comedian then can you please actually do something funny
Santino actually enjoyed this song 😂
Wtf is he crying about? He does way more shit like that. Like Bobby muda. He comes across as a wuzz.
Can you make a mexican one with a blonde wanting to be a mariachi?
Girl i think you have a right to do whatever you want as long as you know what your intentions are, and you know they where harmless. The same ones complaining and acting like it's so wrong are the same ones who do the same thing. You can't please everyone. I watch bad friends, and honestly this upsets me kind of makes me feel like there fake... I almost wish they would apologize for there actions because I watch them joke anoint black people or Jewish people almost every episode....
Keep doing you girl.
The irony of you wanting them to apologize 😂😂. Clowns of a feather flock together as they say.
@Mike Davidson For running someone's name into the ground and calling what she does racist then turning around and doing the same thing but it's ok because they are comedians.. anyone can joke comedians or not.
Hope the best for you and everyone else.
The song is objectively racist, argue about it as much as you want and continue tokenizing Asian people to legitimize your stance but even the most conservative definition of racism would consider this racist
Is Django racist? How about SouthPark?
I don't find any jokes about my race offensive, because they are jokes.... You need to stop all this complaining, why don't you tackle real racism?
I have spent 37 years as a black man, I know what real racism is. This is not an actual racist woman.
@@stainlessdoom3433 racist content though 🤷♂️
Who cares cry more
You got Mike David's love and approval man he's genius level funny. Hey i saw the whole story about how you came up with this your great don't sweat the haters.
There are two kinds of people..
It's funny so it's not racist,
It's racist so it's not funny.
It IS kind of funny but it IS racist. It's both. It's not complicated.
A dumb blonde trying to be a Ninja isn't racist. That could be funny.
But the moment you start mimicing the accent, even start spelling it "Neenja", it HAS dived into the racist zone.
Well said. All these back and forth comments summed up perfectly!
Exactly, just as Santino's Asian impressions are racist. There are different levels of racism. Just because you make a racist joke doesn't make you a Nazi.
Let’s not pretend the original was an aware comedy act rather than a tactless blunder from a bed salesperson.
I disagree completely. That song was well crafted and well performed, that meant at least a couple of hours a day rehearsing not just the singing, the accent but also the face and hand expressions. This was 100% with the intent of being a funny ad. An ad that would've been just funny in the 90s, but everything becomes controversial in the era of the fragile western generation. Meanwhile asians are laughing it off, because in Asia humor is still humor.

Why don't you do "I Want To Be Gangsta" and I Want To Be Housemaid too then?
Basically, if you do it with a friend it's ok. If you do it as a eg. skit like that, it's in bad taste.
Is Django in poor taste?
I am not friends with DiCaprio, but I wasn't offended when he said 'nigger'.
You should learn to distinguish reality from fiction.
Context is extremely important, you performing a "comedy song" at a corporate launch event (seemingly as a surprise?) vs Bobby and Andrew perfoming these accents on a COMEDY podcast, where people know what they have signed up for - they are not the same thing. For instance one might do an asian accent amongst friends at the pub, but one wouldn't do it at work infront of colleagues. Also I'm biased because Im a huge fan of Bobby and Andrew, whereas I am not a fan of yours.
I do it at work in front of colleagues on a regular basis ☺️
Nope, she can do it anywhere, anytime at any event. Nobody needs to be warned. You or anyone else getting offended about a song about becoming a ninja does what exactly? Huh? Oh is that nothing I hear? Because that's what it is, a big, fat, juicy NOTHING BURGER hanging from the lips of the language police!
She should perform it to president XI
Bruh your last sentence nullifies any point you were trying to make i hope you realize this. Trying to make a point against a topic involving two parties and blatantly being well I'm a fan of theirs and not you so you bad, just admits you aren't willing to at least critically think or make an educated judgement before labeling a person. Seriously concerns me that people like you can possibly serve on a jury. I'm neutral here have seen the podcast from time to time got laughs got a laugh out of the song... Looking through the channel here there is no hate or malicious intent behind anything it's all jokes.... Quit getting offended on other people's behalf. The entire RUclips channel is context if you take a look through past content.
@@Zaruka92 I cant hardly make sense of your dribble chap. Assuming most people don’t want to hear this at a function is not making judgement, assuming it’s OKAY to do this on the other hand is ignorant. I like to think I’m a good critical thinker, what isn’t good critical thinking is to assume that is to say “it’s a joke, if you can’t laugh at it you’re the problem” instead of acknowledging that some people might find it offensive. This is bad taste, and I think deep down you know that, I didn’t label her anything did I? Again I never said she was spreading hate, what the problem is (again like I’ve said) is context, she’s not funny, it’s clear some of her audience doesn’t find it funny, this is ant a comedy show this is some work event or something - you don’t see that as a problem? I don’t think you understand how a jury works either, a jury should be able to see both sides of an argument - I get it, it is a funny song, it COULD be funny joke, albeit her delivery makes it crap and her making people uncomfortable make it crap. What you’re doing is going “YOURE OFFENDED FOR PEOPLE YOU DONT GET IT”. Also I don’t want anyone on a jury who says “bruh”.
The most offensive thing about this is I wanted to play that game at the end of the video and I can't find it on the app store

People need to get over silly stuff like this and being offended by everything. People use inclusion backwards, by wanting to be inclusive and highlighting everyone's difference's to show this.
Great job on the video. I wouldn't want to be friends with people that get offended so easily anyways.
It’s not racist, she’s just making humor out of stereotypes. She’s not offending any Asians with her harmless bit. The only ones offended are those thinking that they need to stand up for Asians.
Exactly. And the small percentage of Asians that might be offended can stand up for themselves. You can't please 100% of people all the time. And if you try, you'll please no one at all. And you won't be living an authentic life.
Agreed as an Asian myself. It's cringe af when people wanna be offended on ny behalf 😆😆😆😆 never had i heard her say anything hostile towards us. She didn't tell us to go back to Asia. She didn't say we're inferior. She simply making a silly song outta silly stereotypes of us. Yes it's true, rice is life for me. Stereotypical? Yes. True? Yes. So why would i be mad 😆😆😆😆 even her silly accent is to imitate our accents, which is TRUE. I imitate Hindi accent all the damn time so people know exactly who I'm impersonating 😆😆😆😆 the internet is just soft. No harm no foul here. To be fair, on the opposite
The offense of some doesn't apply to the entire race either
@@ironspaghett yeah, some people might not be offended, but it doesn't make it unproblematic it is still racist and still can offend a lot of people.

Well, loads of people do Indian and Pakistani accent imitations, I don't get offended by it, neither does the vast majority of Indians and Pakistanis. It's actually quite comedic. I think this whole discussion about restricting who can do what and compartmentalising different people are divisive and will continue to add flames to the fire about racism. I'm Chinese and I'd just want to say.....I feel like it would have been a great preface if you actually told us that you already know that ninjas are Japanese and that you intentionally mixed up Chinese and Japanese cultures. if you made that known, then it'd make more sense
Because the whole debate of whether or not it's racist, mostly stems from that. It comes off as you not knowing the cultural history behind each country and mistaking them to be the same.
So long as you can recognize that they are two completely different countries and cultures - and that you're making fun of a lot of white people who actually believe they're the same.
@@slimeb0y_ is it REALLY that deep though?
@@NeinFeline no, exactly, it's not that deep. It's not that hard to Google if ninjas are Japanese or not. So long as she can preface she's not actually stupid, it's fine

@@stainlessdoom3433 except there's too many stupid people who actually do genuinely believe ninjas come from China. So it's kinda hard to see if she thinks it's funny because it's inaccurate or if it's funny because she's a white girl singing this.
