SHOWDOWN: Accuthrive Vs Personna Med Prep Blades!

- In this SHOWDOWN SHAVE Geofatboy performs a shave pitting the original Personna Med Prep blade against the new Accutech Accuthrive Med Prep blade. To make this a totally “Blind” comparison, identical razors are used. The Merkur HD 34C “Workhorse of the Industry” made in Germany, is called upon. The opposing blades are loaded into the razors, then dropped in a box and shaken so that it’s unknown which razor holds which blade. Then a Yellow rubber band is wrapped around the handle of the razor that will be used to shave the Left side of the face and a Red rubber band is wrapped around the handle of the razor used to shave the Right side of the face. I really enjoyed your video. Maybe one of my favorite ones because I use persona on daily basis and I love the blade! I was able to source the original persona prep blades and I bought them . I guess new old stock since they don’t make them anymore. Good to know that the new accuthrive are the same as the original persona blades. Thank you so much for this video.

I have been waiting on this one. I figured that all they would do is change the name. In the past, I use to love the Personna in the Merkur 37C slant but I only got 2 shaves out of them. The 3rd shave for me would be extremely tuggy and pulled something fierce causing my eyes to water and it also caused a lot of weepers and small nicks.

An informative comparison/review. You could have pulled off a magic trick if that second reveal had also been a 'P" 😉 I'm curious about how many $70 per 100 blades you sell compared to the less expensive blades? I must not be as discriminating when it comes to blades. My favorites are Gillette Nacet, Astra Green, Personna Lab Blue, and Wilkinson Sword (India). Once again YMMV rules!

I really like how you go over the same actions for all of your videos, well except for clearing the runways once. Doing this allows people, IMO, permits people watching for first, second, third time to get the idea. For instance, the skim.
My only concern with this is the huge price increase, the persona comfort coats are 15 cents a peice, but the new accutech ones are ahout 60 cents a peice

Hey, I'm relatively new to the channel but I noticed something on your website and videos. For the shaving brush brand, Simpson, you write "Simpsons" like the TV show on your website, but it doesn't have an "s" at the end. I'm not sure if that's done on purpose. Have a good one!

Geo, nice shave and comparison bro🪒🪒💈💈 I figured the blades were exactly the same, can't see the mfg changing what is a great blade. They just changed the packaging for marketing purposes. Glad I bought a thousand yrs ago just in case, love these blades and made in USA is a BIG plus. I stocked up on Personna "Israeli Red" blades also, now that they're mfg in Germany, they're not the same smooth sharp blades. So, it pays to stock up on your favorite blades, never know when they'll disappear. Great video, well done. See ya soon.

hey geo what I really like to know is if there is a difference between the Persona lab blues and the med preps.
It depends on who are you asking. Some say that they are very different blades, with the Med-Prep being better, while others claim that they feel no difference at all.

WTF is the point of this? Personna has outsourced their med prep to AccuTec for a long time... It's the same blade.
