    Very good but what about if it isnt convenient to lift my boat from marina trek 150 round mile trip just for an update?can it be done via card only?

      Hi Jimmy. Yes. You can download the software from Raymarine.com and pre-load it to a microSD card. You'll find the latest Element software and directions here:

    Another question Jim has a pick up speed in the boat I lose my feet measurement to the bottom of the lake on the display,
    is there any way to improve the reception so it continues to read at higher speeds?
    Or in heads up mode travelling to a weighpoint?

    • @RaymarineInc
      @RaymarineInc  12 дней назад

      If you're losing your depth reading at speed you may need to adjust the position of your transducer on the back of the boat. The depth reading is lost when air from the boat's wake/hull cavitation gets underneath the transducer. The stream of air blocks the transmission of the sonic signals from the transducer into the water.
      The transducer mounting bracket is slotted to allow you to adjust the height of the transducer. The transducer's bottom face should be lower than the bottom of the boat to allow air bubbles to flow around it, rather than under it. You can also adjust the running angle of the transducer as needed to improve bottom tracking and reduce on-screen noise.
      The HV-100 transducer installation manual offers some guidance on making these adjustments on page 26. You can view the manual online here if you need it:

    Hi Jim,
    What should I do when I try to update software and got a message said “ not enough storage space” ? How do I get more storage space for update software?

    • @RaymarineInc
      @RaymarineInc  4 месяца назад

      Plug a microSD card into the card slot on your unit. Your chartplotter needs a bit more space to be able to download the update file, unpack them, and install them. The chartplotter will try to use the extra space on your plugged-in chart card if available. In your case there is either no card plugged in, or there is still not enough space available. Any microSD card 8GB or larger should have plenty of space. You can temporarily remove the map card, plug the other one in, and let the update run until it is complete. Then swap the cards back you you'll be good to go.

    I own the Raymarine element and I have Navionics subscription, I don’t understand how purchasing separate charts would assist me? When I purchase navionics does it not show me already all the topography onderwater in the Lakes and or Ocean Its programmed it for? Do you get more detail or something when you purchase an individual chart? Some clarity on the chart issue is appreciated

    • @RaymarineInc
      @RaymarineInc  13 дней назад

      Navionics updates their nautical charts on a regular basis. When you purchase a new Navionics map, individually or bundled with a system, it includes 1-year of free chart updates. This allows you to keep your charts up-to-date with any recent changes. If you have never activated your Navionics subscription you can do so from their website. You'll need to have your map card with you, plugged into a card reader in your computer to update it.
      Navionics also makes regular updates to the bathymetric fishing chart layer also included with your chart card. Those updates come from both official surveys as well as from data collected from other Navionics users through their SonarChart Live program. Many Navionics-equipped chartplotters, including your Element system, can collect live depth information and built bathymetric contour charts on-the-fly. During the chart update process you can submit any data you have collected to Navionics, and receive updates to your local charts that have been collected from other users and normalized by the Navionics system.
      After the 1st year, Navionics charges a subscription to keep receiving updates. Any charts you have are yours to keep, forever. The subscription is not required to maintain access to your charts.

    Do you have to unzip the files on the sd card before installing in Element??

    • @RaymarineInc
      @RaymarineInc  2 года назад +1

      Hello Steward. Yes sir. The files downloaded from Raymarine.com are zipped up. Please unzip them, then move the whole file set to your SD card and insert it in Element.

    • @RaymarineInc
      @RaymarineInc  10 месяцев назад +1

      Try backing up your waypoints and routes to the card. If Element can successfully back those files up, it has read/write access to the card.
      Double-check that the files you downloaded from Raymarine.com were unzipped before copying them to the card. We compress them to make the download faster and more complete, but you do need to unzip the file on your computer, then copy the unzipped contents to the memory card.
      Also make sure you are placing the files in the root directory (top level, not in a folder). Element won't see them for the purpose of updating if they are inside of a folder.

    My next question while using my Raymarine element on a split screes the sonar screen would drop out it would turn black End it would give me a sonar warning saying it cannot connect? Why would this be happening? Very frustrating

    • @RaymarineInc
      @RaymarineInc  12 дней назад +1

      The sonar dropping out indicates either the voltage being delivered to Element is too low (low battery, dirty or loose connection, undersized wiring feeding power to it) or the transducer connector is not tight in the back of the unit. Please check those items and also check the advice in response to your other comment too.

  • @Canadaman4403
    @Canadaman4403 13 дней назад

    I was out this weekend on a fishing trip and my Raymarine element kept rebooting it would show the fishfinder screen and then all of a sudden go black with the words element on it and then it would reboot this happened at least 10 or 20 times. Do you have any idea how I can prevent this from happening in the future or why it is happening??

    • @RaymarineInc
      @RaymarineInc  12 дней назад

      First, I would double check your power connection. Make sure the connections are tight at both the display side, and at the bus-bar or breaker end. Double-check that the connectors are also clean. With that many re-boots, I'd tend to think the display is starving for power, or the power is getting interrupted.
      Please unplug the power cable from the screen, and using a multimeter, verify the voltage that is being delivered to the display at the power leads. For Element we'd like to see at least 8-volts, and no more than 16-volts. Ideally you'll see about 12.5 volts with the engines off, and around 13 or so with the engines running. If the power drops much below 11 volts, you are first going to see the sonar begin to hiccup, as you mentioned in another comment. The sonar system internally consumes the most power when it is on and transmitting. If the current available to the unit drops too low, Element will shut down the sonar to protect it. The screen and GPS will keep running.
      If this keeps giving you trouble, please open a ticket with our technical support team at www.raymarine.com/support so we can troubleshoot further.

    I am trying to upgrade my element. Have not upgraded since I've had it. It says my SD card does not have enough room. I have purchased a larger SD card. I am afraid of losing all of my mapping and waypoints etc. How do I ensure that I do not lose all of my data that I have saved over the years?
    It would be catastrophic to lose all of my data. Thank you for your time.

    • @RaymarineInc
      @RaymarineInc  5 месяцев назад +1

      Put your map card back into Element, and then use Element's backup function to save a copy of your waypoints, routes and tracks to the card. From the Homescreen go to Settings...Import/Export. Select Save Data to Card...Save All Data...Save. This is going to create a backup of all of your information. I recommend doing this periodically, not just in preparation for software update. Should you need to restore information, it is done from the same Import/Export menu. You'll just choose Import instead.
      Since you have a 2nd microSD card, if you have a fast internet connection available, you may wish to download the Element update from Raymarine.com and transfer it to your card, and then insert the card and update it that way. I find its a bit easier than trying to do the Wi-Fi update directly to Element, though either method does work.

    • @RaymarineInc
      @RaymarineInc  3 года назад +1

      Hi Vincent. The file its downloading is pretty large and Element needs somewhere to temporarily store it before installation. Its onboard storage is not always enough, depending on the file size. The latest Element update is pretty big, but its actually laying the groundwork for future updates to be much smaller going forward.
      If you plug in a microSD card it can store the download there temporarily and use it to complete the update. If there is enough space available on your map card, it will use that. Or, eject your map and put a blank card in temporarily for update, then put the map back when it is complete.

    I tried updating. I downloaded the files from Raymarine website, unziped and placed them on the root of the SD card, but even like this, the system couldn't find the files in the card. I tried to go online, but the system didn't find my mobile's wifi network... is there some incompatibility? Why wouldn't thr system see my wifi network? Why it didn't see the card? Any special formatting needed?

    • @RaymarineInc
      @RaymarineInc  Год назад +1

      Hello Pedro. Other than making sure the files are unzipped and located in the root directory (top level) of the SD card, there is really no other special formatting required. Double-check that Element is able to read and write to the card by doing a backup of your waypoints, and then restoring them. That will confirm the card is readable.
      If you have the option of trying a different card, that is sometimes the best option.
      On your Wi-Fi connection, if you are having trouble detecting it make sure your mobile phone is broadcasting its SSID. Sometimes it is helpful to initially turn off the Wi-Fi network encryption just to simplify things.
