  • David Wilber-speaker, Bible teacher, apologist, researcher and author of six books (including "A Christian Guide to the Biblical Feasts" and "Is God a Misogynist?")-loves theology. In this episode, we talk about why Christians should keep the biblical feasts and David breaks down how each feast centers around Yeshua. We'll dive into religious labels, the history of the 66-book canon and the way he approaches Apocryphal and pseudepigraphal works such as First Enoch, and Jubilees.
David, who's also written and taught for outlets ranging from 119 Ministries to Inspiring Philosophy, shares about the formation of his publishing company, Pronomian Publishing LLC and how he prepares for a debate.

Regarding the 4 th commandment, my pastor said, “That isn’t our tradition”, which was the perfect answer to set me up for Mark 7:9. “You neatly set aside the commandment of God that you may keep your traditions”. Wow! Yeshuah was not complementary about “our tradition”! So began my search for Truth. We need to remember the foundation, Torah , and use it to judge any theology built afterward by the teachings of men.
Thank you for sharing information about Kaleb House. There is a matching fundraiser now (June 2024) until July 10. I hope many new supporters will take advantage of this opportunity to build a good future for the children.

1:23:50 course correction is a constant theme throughout the Torah. Why did the prophets come? They were sent to tell Israel they were off the straight and narrow. Why did Yeshuah say he came? To call the lost sheep of Israel back to the straight and narrow, to REFORM the practices of Israel. Why do we assume the followers of Yeshuah would stay on the correct path for two thousand years without error creeping in? That’s why we must constantly check ALL faith and practice against the plum line of the written and living Word. A slight deviation in our base assumption will result in a toppling structure. Always judge the teachings of men by the Word, not the other way around.

In bringing someone 2c or value truth, we need 2b willing to listen well and accept that it may not happen in our time clock⏰️ It takes time to build bridges 🌉 In our zeal, we should not misrepresent but be prepared n communicate arguements humbly. The saying about catching more flies with honey🍯... The point being that we can accomplish more with sweetness/kindness rather than with a caustic attitude.

In reference to using the new testament to test the book of enoch, we all have the benefit of hindsight on the descripton of Messiah. Im seeing what I hope is a growing trend, a few people trying to recognize who Yeshua was,, and why He was needed by using the old testament alone. if one can come to the understanding of how those who recognized Yeshua for who He was could do so without having that hindsight can bring an exploded view of our own redemption and salvation? that alone makes extra biblical text implode on itself.

We go through these disagreements in our bible study because me, my wife and son all follow the entire bible and the other 6 or 7 people are halfway Torah observant and "new testament- grace only- Sunday worshipers." I'm constantly saying, "there was no new testament teachings during and many years after Yeshua's ministry so what did he teach?!" Yehovah's law and there's a ton of scripture in the so called "new testament" (man inserted that word into the bible not Elohim) to support his commandments are our template for living a holy life, amen. But unfortunately some of them will never hear it because they don't know the shepherds voice...

    • @DavidWilberBlog
      @DavidWilberBlog 14 дней назад +3

If you're reading from R.H. Charles' translation, that might be the problem. R. H. Charles has the verse in the third person rather than the second person ("This is that Son of Man" instead of "You are that Son of Man"). Charles admits that he emended the text in 71:14 and provides the correct translation in the footnotes of his translation. Charles' emendation is based on theory about a missing passage that identifies the son of Man as someone other than Enoch, but there is no textual basis for this theory and it is unanimously rejected by scholars. We should take the text for what it actually says rather than what we think it should say, which is why all modern translations have "You are that Son of Man," identifying Enoch as this figure. See my article "Who is the Son of Man in 1 Enoch 71:14" for more info. I also have some short videos about this verse on my channel. Blessings!

1 Enoch does NOT teach that Enoch is the messiah... When read in full context, regardless of translation issues, it does NOT call Enoch the son of man. Enoch is regarded as a prophet of YHWH; we shouldn't be so careless so as to not test the book with proper humility.
1 Enoch lines up with the 66 western canon, it doesn't line up with doctrines of men...

    • @DavidWilberBlog
      @DavidWilberBlog 14 дней назад +5

Respectfully, it literally does identify Enoch as the Messianic "Son of Man" in 71:14. Even R.H. Charles admits this. See the footnotes in his translation of that passage, where he gives the correct translation. There is not debate about what the text actually says. Charles thought the text should say something else, hence his emending the text to the third person. But as even Charles himself acknowledges, there is no textual basis for this emendation. The text says what it says.

The problem with the Books of the Apocrypha is that they ARE NOT Canonized Scripture...
Most Scholarly websites will caution you that they are "works of fiction" and are NOT Scripture...
(Such as the Wesleyian Bible Study Website)
The Books of the Apocrypha were also vehemently defended by the Roman Catholic Church because they supported their abominated practices such as:
      1. Praying to the dead and speaking with the dead (Book of Jasher, Chapter 42:30 through 40)
      2. Offering "indulgences" (2 Maccabees 12:43)
There a lot of reason they were left out of the Protestant Canon...
They don't/won't lead people to "secret knowledge"...
Only to error when what is written in them is held at higher regard than the Canonized Scripture...

👉(Amos 8:10). “and shall turn your festivals into mourning, and all your songs into lamentation, and bring sackcloth on all loins, and baldness on every head, and shall make it like mourning for an only son, and its end like a day of bitterness.”

We "Rehearse/Memorialize the Feasts of YeHoVaH"...
The Apostle Paul tells us in:
Colossians 2:16 and 17 - 16Therefore LET NO ONE JUDGE YOU by what you eat or drink, or WITH REGARD TO A FEAST, a New Moon, or A SABBATH DAY. 17These are a shadow of the things to come, but the body that casts it belongs to Christ.
Our "Sacrifices" for these FEASTS are BIBLICAL:
Psalm 51:16 and 17 - 16For You do not delight in sacrifice, or I would bring it; You take no pleasure in burnt offerings. 17The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and a contrite heart, O God, You will not despise.
1 Samuel 15:22 - But Samuel declared: "Does the LORD delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as much as in obedience to His voice? Behold, obedience is better than sacrifice, and attentiveness is better than the fat of rams.
We also present other "Acceptable sacrifices" to our High Priest, Yeshua...
Hebrews 4:14 - Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to what we profess.
Matthew 25:40 - And the King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of Mine, you did for Me.’
James 1:27 - Pure and undefiled religion before our God and Father is this: to care for orphans and widows in their distress, and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.
      NO days are "profane"...
      "His Name is in there."
1 Corinthians 3:16 and 17 - 16 Do you not know that you yourselves are God’s temple, and that God’s Spirit dwells in you? 17If anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy him; for God’s temple is holy, and you are that temple.

This is false teaching. All feasts are instructed to be done a certain way (by sacrificing/offerings - Lev 23:37) and only one place on Earth (Temple). Even the lunar calendar requires a functioning Aaronic priesthood in place. So NO to keeping feasts because we are FORBIDDEN to keep feasts. It is impossible. We are FORBIDDEN to change any of these instructions in Torah and make up new instructions like a new location and a new way and even a new reason for doing so.
Israel was vomited from the land for their sin and Hosea says this shuts down feast keeping. (Hosea 9:1-5). Why? Because feast keeping is to be done exactly as commanded. Ex 12 & 13 say it commences once in the land and Deut 12 says only one location inside that land; the Temple. So when Israel was vomited from the land, feasts CEASE according to our Father. (Hosea 2:11). In fact, Lam 1:4 says our attitude would be mournful because we are not able to keep them but one day look forward to doing so when our Messiah returns to take us to that land.
The NT participants kept the feasts because they still had a functioning priesthood and Temple. Just like we don't make an ephod full for jewels and pretend to still do what was instructed to the priests, we also don't decide the lunar calendar. It was only Aaron's line given this authority. (Num 10:8-10)
Yah commanded us to OBEY HIM. He never once said "outside of the land and ignoring the location, go ahead and memorialize them, practice them, commemorate them." You are making up a new command where one does not exist. Israel never did this in Babylon; Ezra and Nehemiah confirm this was not done in Babylon. Why are you ignoring Yah?

Leviticus 23:4 - These are the LORD's appointed feasts, the sacred assemblies YOU ARE TO PROCLAIM THEM AT THEIR APPOINTED TIMES.
If YeHoVaH tells us that these appointed times are to be kept in ALL our Generations...
      WHO is actually "ignoring" YeHoVaH?
Can you quote a verse to me where YeHoVaH tells us NOT to observe and memorialize the Feasts?
Deuteronomy 16:11 - And thou shalt rejoice before the LORD thy God, thou, and thy son, and thy daughter, and thy manservant, and thy maidservant, and the Levite that is within thy gates, and the stranger, and the fatherless, and the widow, that are among you, in the place which the LORD thy God hath chosen to place his name there.
"The NT participants kept the feasts because they still had a functioning priesthood and Temple. "
      Our Temple:
1 Corinthians 3:16 and 17 - 16 Do you not know that you yourselves are God’s temple, and that God’s Spirit dwells in you? 17If anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy him; for God’s temple is holy, and you are that temple.
2 Corinthians 5:1 - Now we know that if the earthly tent we live in is dismantled, we have a building from God, an eternal house in heaven, not built by human hands.
Mark 14:58 - "We heard Him say, 'I will destroy this man-made temple, and in three days I will build another that is made without hands.'"
      Our High Priest:
Hebrews 3:1 - Therefore, holy brothers, who share in the heavenly calling, set your focus on Jesus, the apostle and high priest whom we confess.
Hebrews 4:15 - Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to what we profess.
Hebrews 5:6 - As he says also in another place, “You are a priest forever, after the order of Melchizedek.”
Hebrews 6:20 - Where Jesus has gone as a forerunner on our behalf, having become a high priest forever after the order of Melchizedek.
1 Peter 2:5 - You yourselves like living stones are being built up as a spiritual house, to be a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.
      Because Yeshua told us in:
Matthew 5:17 through 19 - 17Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets. I have not come to abolish them, but to fulfill them. 18For I tell you truly, until heaven and earth pass away, not a single jot, not a stroke of a pen, will disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished. 19So then, whoever breaks one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do likewise will be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever practices and teaches them will be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
And the Apostle Paul told us in:
Colossians 2:16 - Therefore LET NO ONE JUDGE YOU by what you eat or drink, or WITH REGARD TO A FEAST, A NEW MOON, or a Sabbath.
The TRUE meaning of this verse stated in context...
And I'll let you know in no uncertain terms...
I won't let you judge me with regard to the Feasts of YeHoVaH or New Moons...
      Have a BLESSED Shabbat...

@@bawbjusbawb6471 Keep reading in Exodus 12 and read it again in Exodus 13.
Ex 12:25 When you enter the land that the Lord will give you as he promised, observe this ceremony.
Ex 13:5 When the Lord brings you into the land of the Canaanites, Hittites, Amorites, Hivites and Jebusites-the land he swore to your ancestors to give you, a land flowing with milk and honey-you are to observe this ceremony in this month.
Before reaching that land, what does Deut 12 say as a chastisement to Israel? What commands from Yah hinge on "you have not yet reached the resting place" that Israel was disobeying by "everyone doing as they see fit"?
Now when vomited from the land as Hosea 9:1-5 prophesied, what does Hosea tell us in that same passage, happens to feasts? What does Yah say happens to feasts & new moons (lunar calendar keeping) in Hosea 2:11? If He had the power to make feasts/new moons cease by the act of vomiting His people from the land, why does He not have the power over you to do the same? Is it because you ignore what you're reading and you're following man instead?
This isn't difficult. Israel knew in Babylon not to "memorialize" or any other word you want to use in its place. If Israel knew not to do this, why don't you know not to? Jeremiah wrote in Lamentations about this diaspora, "the roads to Zion mourn for no one comes to her appointed festivals." So you think Israel would answer with, "who cares....over here in Babylon we're memorializing those appointed festivals and no one is mourning"? Because that is exactly what you are saying. You're reading the word "olam" and just deciding for yourself its implications while ignoring the rest of the text. Did you know that the Levitical priesthood is also "olam"? You can read it. It says "OLAM" and therefore it must mean we are to keep it going, right? Just like you're doing with feasts? Are you donning an ephod too and making intercession because of that word? Are you receiving sacrifices? Consulting an Urim and Thummim as well? Those instructions were only given to priests too so to be consistent, you would have to also "memorialize" them because of the word "olam" right? Or do all of these instructions, including feast keeping and new moons (lunar calendar) REQUIRE a functioning Temple in Jerusalem with a functioning priesthood?
A good exercise for you to do is take one of the feasts and write out all of the instructions for it. Then tell me how you're obeying Yah's instructions without ignoring what He says to do and making up your own.
Start with the lunar calendar. What tribe and ONLY tribe was given authority to declare when it is Aviv 1 or Adar Bet 1? This sets the whole feast cycle so show me who Yah says is to do this for Israel. Show me anywhere in all of scripture that someone else or someone from another tribe is to take on the instructions only given to Aaron's line of Levitical priests.
Where does Yah say men must go to keep the feasts? He's very specific in Deut 12. Where is that place; the only place allowed?
What does Lev 23:37 say is Yah's reason for keeping feasts? If that reason cannot be done, all you are doing is coming up with your own reason, right? Because you can see clearly what Yah says is His reason for keeping them and obviously that does not matter to you or your group; you have your own reason to do what you are doing, right?
Jeroboam did three things that you are doing. He decided the lunar calendar date for a feast without an Aaronic priest. He decided a different location other than what Torah said. And in doing both, he decided his way to keep feasts were to be followed by the people instead of Yah's. What happened to Jeroboam and his whole family as a result? What is going to happen to everyone who is doing the same, especially those "ministries" who are telling people to follow along with them and ignore Yah? It won't end well, that's for sure.

"This isn't difficult. Israel knew in Babylon not to "memorialize" or any other word you want to use in its place."
Exodus 12:14 - And THIS DAY WILL BE A MEMORIAL FOR YOU, and YOU ARE TO CELEBRATE IT AS A FEAST TO THE LORD, AS A PERMANENT STATUTE FOR GENERATIONS TO COME.
Can you tell me what these words mean?
      1. Memorial
      2. Permanent
1 Kings 13:33 and 34 - 33Even after these events, Jeroboam did not repent of his evil ways, but again he appointed priests for the high places from every class of people. He ordained anyone who desired to be a priest of the high places. 34And THIS was the sin of the house of Jeroboam that led to its extermination and destruction from the face of the earth.
Jeroboam appointed his OWN priests... (Our High Priest has already been appointed by YeHoVaH)
Jeroboam also made his OWN feast days...
He wasn't observing the Feast Days of YeHoVaH...
No one that I know of has an altar in their backyard sacrificing lambs and goats...
And they certainly aren't appointing their own priests...
Where is that place; the only place allowed?
1 Corinthians 3:16 and 17 - 16Do you not know that you yourselves are God’s temple, and that God’s Spirit dwells in you? 17If anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy him; for God’s temple is holy, and you are that temple.
John 4:20 through 24 - 20Our fathers worshiped on this mountain, but you Jews say that the place where one must worship is in Jerusalem.” 21“Believe Me, woman,” Jesus replied, “a time is coming when you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem. 22You worship what you do not know; we worship what we do know, for salvation is from the Jews. 23But a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth, for the Father is seeking such as these to worship Him. 24God is Spirit, and His worshipers must worship Him in spirit and in truth.”
"Show me anywhere in all of scripture that someone else or someone from another tribe is to take on the instructions only given to Aaron's line of Levitical priests."
      There is none...
So you don't offer animal sacrifices to the priests then. SIMPLE?
We don't "make up our own" as you claim...
      Our sacrifices include:
Psalm 51:16 and 17 - 16For You do not delight in sacrifice, or I would bring it; You take no pleasure in burnt offerings. 17The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and a contrite heart, O God, You will not despise.
1 Samuel 15:22 - But Samuel declared: "Does the LORD delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as much as in obedience to His voice? Behold, obedience is better than sacrifice, and attentiveness is better than the fat of rams.
YeHoVaH's Word states these ARE Acceptable Sacrifices. WHO are you to say they aren't?
You tell people not to do things the Scriptures tell us are permanent.
You tell people not to keep the 7th Day Sabbath
Psalm 50:16 and 17 - 16To the wicked, however, God says, “What right have you to recite My statutes and to bear My covenant on your lips? 17For you hate My instruction and cast My words behind you.
