Demo and Secret to a Puzzle trick from the 70s. Looks very similar to the forthcoming trick from Tenyo 2017 collection. This was filmed in September 2016, uploads November. As the New Tenyo trick is not yet available the secret I reveal is a standard known "puzzle". Tenyo MAY use a different method????

This is my first time seeing this in 2023 and I thought I saw everyone of totally magics card tricks but I don't know how I missed this one. I know people around here would probably never see how that's done.

Came here a lil bit late but for everyone who would love to buy this trick go buy it because Tenyo really did improve the method so it works for every possible outcome (works even when the switch and the lamp have the same number, the old method shown in the video only works with different number). It really is a super mind-blowing effect if you take time to master your performance and add variations to it. Another tip is that we should use the envelope supported in the Tenyo package because the opening edge is high enough to hide the remaining cards but low enough to express naturally that the envelope is empty, which adds more killer effect to the trick. Have fun, and enjoy!

Thanks for the comment and info. Sadly I don't own this particular trick, although I do collect a lot of Tenyo stuff from the early years. I'm sure Tenyo have improved on the old variation, I made see if I can buy one. Thanks again.

Don't you just love it when decades-old effects are so amazing they're timeless? I love this trick. It's so simple and yet so cool-looking. And presenting it as electrical circuits makes it all the more impressiv, since most spectators are not readily knowledgeable in reading schematics. They're like "Whoa! Electrical wiring is like MAGIC!" No? So, it's just me then? Thank you so much for the time you took to film this and for explaining it so well. And for even providing us with cards we can make for our own use. You got 1 more subscriber.

Add an extra flap inside the envelope so you can show it empty after you take out the 3 cards.

This is the trick which is found in magic set by chu magic is Hideo Kato’s “All roads lead to Rome” appeared in Genii November 1986 issue but he created this trick in 70’s.
Actually, the “Magic Maze” from Tenyo 2017 is lesser known mathematical principle and only 3 persons who told about it- So Sato, So Sato’s father and Hiroki Tanaka who now join TENYO.
Please don’t confuse this trick with Mr.Sato’s new trick. Thanks.

What do you do, when the switch and the lamp have the same number???

    • @totallymagic

On the outset you tell them to select a switch and lamp with different numbers. That way it appears a totally jumbled up mess of wires! Tenyo trick is the same, different numbers either end.

@@totallymagic That is why Tenyo uses one more (mirror) card, that actually does nothing but lets you always use 4 cards to create the maze. To get from switch to the lamp with same number you have to use all 4 regular cards, and in other cases you eliminate 1 regular card but add mirror card, so you always use 4 cards

What dose the fifth optional card do Regards

    • @totallymagic
      @totallymagic  6 лет назад +1

The fifth card is optional and can be added in the middle to make it seem more impossible, but the fifth card is the same both ways up. eg. if the line comes in on the top line, it leaves from the top line. In other words it does nothing to the mix up!

You can make the effect for yourself. I am absolutely useless with 'arts and crafts' but even i could manage it so there is hope for anyone!
The method i employed was to use an ipad to take still photo shots of the card images as shown on the video of another tablet. You need to take the photos when the images are set together in a fitted trio on the table. I attached the photos to an email and then sent them to a desk top computer to print off and cut into individual pieces. All four cards are shown in the video (there are two demos) in the combinations that we require for the logical deduction of the identities of all the cards.
Also use a money envelope with a false back/divider fitted inside and a window cut in the front. You can then cleanly show the envelope to be completely empty after the extraction of the relevant three puzzle pieces.
The result will be a little pocket sized puzzle with the paper print outs afixed to quality thick card backs and in their own little envelope.
Either that or you can buy the modern tenyo version for about twenty pounds/dollars.
      Hope this helps.

Really? The puzzle appears in the puzzalator book from 1933 originally and been used ever since in various ways. Tenyo released a version in 2015 in Japan and 2017 in the UK. When did Andi invent it? I'm intrigued!

@@totallymagic I think people are confused by Andi's FOOL US performance where I imagine/presume that he would have credited this, and the later Tenyo trick. It's slightly misleading that he 'made the trick' just for Penn and Teller, when in fact he MODIFIED the trick, to personalise it for Penn and Teller. I'm sure if he'd published it, he would definitely have given proper credit.
*Actually, I just checked and he mentions the credits in the video description*
      Here's the performance: ruclips.net/video/2RCG-ximQ_c/видео.html

Very nicely crafted with subtilty marked plastic cards. Totally Magic, thankyou for showing your version. Much appreciated.
