I had the pleasure of meeting Shoot many years ago in Sydney for a lecture he did. While I obviously can't claim that I know him, I do feel comfortable saying a few things I learned. 1st, he clearly loves profoming for people, and his joy during those performances is genuine and infectious. 2nd, he really is that humble on and off stage. And 3rd, he skill, even at 1.5 feet away, is infuriating because of how clean his moves are. To put it bluntly, even if you know his methods, you won't catch him doing them right in front of your eyes.
This act was just top notch. I think I know how a bit of it was done but I'm so freaking lost it's not even funny. The wealth of knowledge in the brains of Penn and Teller is just unreal. I hope they never fly on the same airplane together in case something happens. Just beautiful.
It almost sounds like Ogawa has literally shown Penn and Teller this particular technique backstage at one of their shows if I’m implying Penn’s code correctly, it certainly wouldn’t help Ogawa in this game.
Shoot Ogawa is a gem of a magician. Great humble human being on top of that. Meet him twice and was flabbergasted both times. One of the greatest magician ever.
Seen him in person in Hawai’i at his show that is very small and intimate. Flabbergasted at his abilities. Knowing that “it’s slight of hand” should not be a reason he didn’t fool them. He’s doing slight of hand on a level no one else can. (Just like others with card tricks). The absolute best this guy.
I just returned from seeing Shoot perform in Waikiki. Absolutely fantastic. I had to check him out on RUclips right away. If you get a chance to see him, do it!
The time spent deliberating is heavily edited, and Penn & Teller are mic'd up during their discussion. If they didn't manage to breakdown the methods used to accomplish the individual moves, they would have been told as much.
This dude blows my mind. Both performances did. And he seems like such a cool/nice guy too. I can't even imagine where the stuff is coming from and going to when it vanishes. It looks absolutely magical.
While I can’t necessarily make out how he’s doing it, I know exactly when he’s doing it and that to me is a problem. His first performance in my opinion was way more stellar. He looked way more nervous and I knew every time he was up to something.
Even if you didn't fool Penn or Teller, you fooled me. That was REALLY impressive. I've been able to figure out how a lot of things are done, but this was truly magical in every way.
5:10 How does he make everything disappear? I mean the whole thing was magical. I didn't even know he was from Hawaii. My favorite place to vacation! He's already living in a magical place! So glad he came back to showcase again!
@5:10 he only has two things he needs to disappear here, the spoonhead and the coin that supposedly transformed into the spoonhead. The full spoon is already in his mouth. I'm not going to pretend know which method he actually used, but the rubbing he did on the coin to transform it into the spoonhead could disintegrate something that's just thick enough to be shiny and the size of a coin, and the crumpling could do similar to a similar fake spoonhead leaving a tiny enough residue that observers can't see.
That was absolutely stunning, full of unexpected moments and brilliant timing. Production and disappearance can be a case of ‘look what I can do’ and this was completely the opposite. Very humble and totally brilliant
There were so many things happening, smoothly and cleanly, that I don't want to spot the moves. I want to just enjoy the artistry. I think more important and valuable than a trophy is the respect of P&T.
I caught some moves myself, because I know what to look for, so I wasn't surprised by the outcome, but that is _still_ some of the smoothest, cleanest sleight of hand I've ever seen. Just because I have a pretty good idea how the routine works doesn't mean it isn't still magical!
Shoot Ogawa : performs unique sleights of hand that he invented just for the show, fooling public and magicians with master dexterity Penn : "Hi Shoot ! We know what a spoon is."
You can see exactly what he's doing; the only part that is a guessing game is the final part. Does the cup have a false bottom? That said, I know what he was doing, but saw literally nothing. Flawless victory in my eye.
This fooled me. While I have some idea how a few things were done, the overall skill shown in doing these tricks was superb. I can't imagine the amount of time it takes to develop the needed skill yo do what Shoot Ogawa did.
Haven't even finished the video but man its beautiful. I mean i see alot where the moves comes from but alot of the moves i dont see.. Don't matter.. Amazing!

There were a few moves in begining of the act that was a bit to obvious what was going on (not sure if it was nerves, just me happening to focus there right then or thought out distractions to fool P&T) to then lead to some really bug WTF!?!? moments for me. In Matrix the line is "There is no Spoon" but I guess Penn went with Life of Brian "We found a spoon!". Anyway. Nice act but I would have prefered to experience it live and a bit more close-up. You fooled me way more than not. :) ❤
I disagree. There were at least 3 new unknown methods in the act. Unless he showed them this backstage at their shows (perhaps he did), there was enough in the act to have “fooled” them. This is one of the issues that I have in general with the judging. What percent do they need to not know for the act to be successful; any, ¼, half, most, all?
Penn said : you are the only one to have discover that spoon are all shiny and magical...!" wrong, Kenji minemura did an whole act around giant spoon about 15 years ago!
It's the first time I feel like Penn and Teller are cheating. The performance was so good. Even for the little I know how he is doing it, I don't actually see it. How they can catch everything with just one watch, I don't get it.
nah, definetely not best sleight of hand. without watching twice or in slow motion, i noticed the following: palmed coin and spoon, some "hole" inside the cup near end, it looked like there's a hole on the side on other side and you slipped spoons thru that hole, from hand thru hole and out the top of cup. i haven't seen the preious one, will look it up. don't take it as insult tho, i'm saying this so you can improve your act in future. i'm sure you've looked thru it yourself aswell, so you know which places i mean. another thing i'd like to point out, is how you keep items palmed and you make it bit too obvious when you hide them, those "weird" movements where you put your "empty" hand near a pocket or sleeve, it's a dead giveaway that you put/took something, you should conceal those moments better. still nicely done and i'm sure it takes years of practice. that's why it stuns most people, they couldn't do this even if you showed them exactly what you did.
If you want to see an extremely boring one. Check out the one of the guy that uses the arrow card. That one had me dosing off it was so boring. Literally turned it off & went to see other videos 1/2 way through that one. & I heard it was a Fooler. Worst trick on the show hands down.
@@joewas2225 there have been people on the show doing real basic stuff or self working tricks, so how are they doing in your book? do you really enjoy magic?

🤍💙👌🏼👍🏻🙇🏻♂️🦾
Uh no you did not meet him
I always appreciate how kind and respectful Penn (and Teller by extension) is. Whether they figured it out or not, they are always wonderful.
I know how Michal Jordan scores but I would never replicate it
That was some of if not the finest sleight of hand work I’ve ever seen. I hope to see more of this incredible showman.

I think Penn reminded him that he, in their friendship shared something about how he did this.
“Good for friendship, not so good for playing the game”

when I know shoot ogawa first time,in lu chen‘s book in 2010s. I love him.
I'm still working on vanishing a coin and pulling it from my kid's ear. This is beautiful, and way beyond my understanding.

Simply wonderful, humbly, magical, the little things are the greatest.
That was such a beautiful trick & performance 👏🔥
Best act ever ❤
Mr. Ogawa has got to be the best slight of hand artist known to the world right now. We are watching history in the making.
This is one of the basic ass sleight of hand ever on fool us, it's not even enjoyable to watch the routine.

Or a Spaniard with a card trick--though I think they have a slightly better record of fooling P&T.
