i go to a church camp every summer, and for all of the 7 years i have been going, we do this exact dance. picture around 200 to 300 kids jumping and screaming "MONKEYY". one of the funniest parts of camp. and when they start the video, everybody just looks at eachother and start to smile.

Let me tell y'all something, I am a forty-three-year-old, old generation from the church, grew up in it, woman. We had this as a pre rally for our youth camp last week and as somebody down below posted it was to get the kids hyped up, to get their energy out and then we sat and had majorly deep conversations about God, Jesus, how he relates to us, how we relate to him and his love for us. All of this stupidity that you guys are knocking back and forth is ridiculous. There is nothing anti-christian about this video, about this dance. We had a great time. We saw people saved. I saw my girls in particular moved to tears because God's been doing stuff in their lives. Lighten up. I love Jesus I love God and I love this video

Literally did this dance this morning at Youth Camp. I can’t explain how hype everyone got for the message after doing this dance. For those Christians trying to bash this and saying that this isn’t how you should worship, I’d like to state that yes, this song in particular might not be considered worship. However, it does get the Youth riled up enough to be excited for hearing the message rather than dreading it. This week at camp has gotten me the most connected to God I’ve ever been; I used to hate the messages because everything was always the same. I can’t say that my entire experience was changed by this alone, but it certainly did get me hype enough to where I wasn’t dreading sitting through that message. I can’t wait to wake up tomorrow and spend my last morning being hype like this with all of my cabin mates.
We call it the "wake and shake" song. :) Just watched my son have such fun dancing to this song at holiday club this morning in South Africa. Can't tell you how it brightened my day, after a rather rough morning! :) thank you Lord for your fun and joy!

Daimon true true but I think Jesus is pretty fun. And this song gets people to bring people into church I say go for it. Church should be fun. The lord says to be joyous many times in many different ways. A three minute song and then an hour of worship. I don't think the lord has a problem with it as long as we don't go to church just to do the monkey. That would be making this dance an idol above Jesus. But to have fun while at church? I don't see the problem in it.

It was a fun goofy way to get rid of energy, laugh, smile, and be full of joy having a jolly ol' time!!!! I've been doing it THIS week with my Jr. High students during VBS. It also is our first thing we do to get energy out and laugh and have fun. It's funny watching the Jr. High students. At first they were like, "We're not going to do this."
