Never would've figured Bret as coke guy love how open and non chalant he was about naming every one else in the room doing coke lol.
Bret: hey it was like Christmas all day and White Christmas all night long! maaan those were the days, good times…
You: …WTF?!
I could see Bret more as a weed or pill kinda guy. Bret wired up on coke sounds kinda funny
He admitted it before on a video where he buries George the animal Steele
They all admitted to coke use when they were alive, so....
Bret was very transparent in his 2008 book, which is probably one of the greatest wrestling books ever written.
People who didn’t grow up in the 70s and 80s don’t realize how prevalent cocaine use was in sports and entertainment. Len Bias’s death was a real wake up call for many.
I was 12 years old when Bias died it did scare some off but then came crack
Coke was EVERYWHERE from like 1975-1985. The prevailing attitude was that it gave you a boost and wasn't as bad for your productivity and mental health as say, heroin or LSD. Then in the late 80's there was a backlash against all drugs and coke started to be associated with decadent excess and some high profile overdoses.
Len Bias was suppose to be the next big thing in the NBA.
The Bearman’s poor girlfriend. I cannot imagine how terrifying and agonizing that must have been.
RIP.
That story is honestly wild. Insane to even do a wrestling bear thing to begin with knowing how dangerous that is.
The Bret cocaine story was in his book. He also fessed up to cheating on his first wife multiple times.
Being the professional Bret always puts himself as, it was surprising to hear he did lines back in the day 😂😂
I'm honestly surprised that Adonis was so damn young, like, from what I've seen of him (granted it's not much), I would've never thought he was that young. I know that people give him shit for his size during the 'Adorable' gimmick but it certainly seems like he could move insanely well for a guy of his size (not unlike 'Playboy' Buddy Rose.)
Robbing him while he was dying made me very angry.
Hard to accept but honestly some people just really suck. But sinking to that level of a low is fascinating. Hard to see how you’d sleep at night being that shitty of a human but we’ve seen people commonly do unexplainable shit.
Sitting here patiently waiting for the Bash at the Beach 2000 episode😁
Same, that's the episode I was looking forward to the most in this season
Gonna be a lot of controversy over this episode lol
“Cocaine’s a hell of a drug.”- Rick James
RIP to Darren drozdov, Melanie Pilllman, Scott Hall and Antonio Inoki, who were on Dark Side of the Ring and died since.
Droz died?
@@adamdevree6482 yes.
This was a very informative episode of Dark Side of the Ring because Adrian adonis was way before my time i learned a lot while watching this episode.
Same here
Yep. Adonis was in the AWA and he was different in the WWF before the “Adorable” gimmick. I love how his 2 known tag teams had “connection” in it. The East-West Connection with Ventura and The North-South Connection.
Matter of fact during the North-South Connection they had 2 vignettes with Adonis & Murdoch where one would show the other his life. Adonis would show Murdoch life in the city in New York City and Murdoch would show Adonis life in the country in the Texas.
I've read that Bear Man's young son was in a car behind them and witnessed the accident.
I can't imagine something so traumatic at that age.
I’m more shocked a lot of people in this comment section didn’t know Bret did coke😂.
He has spoken openly about it, he just doesn’t talk about it a lot because it never got addicted to it.
Yeah he has admitted to it multiple times. But I think a lot of people who are shocked may be unaware just how common Coke was during that time or even how common it is to this day. One of the biggest surprises I ever had was when I began going to bars regularly at 21 for a period of time just how commonly people used coke. People maybe shocked to learn just how many people have tried it during their lives
Always enjoyed the segment with Mean Gene and Adonis on the streets of what I think was the Bowery in NYC walking around and talking to random people in the street. Adonis fits in perfectly while Gene is in his tux and nervous the whole time lol.
Danny Spivey broke into pro wrestling down in Florida, where Dusty Rhodes put him together with a young Scott Hall and called them American Starship.
A really tragic story...
I never knew he died so young.
He was about to put his life back together knowing how drugs screwed it up to that point and then died so randomly. It’s really sad.
Reminds me of Sam Kinnison getting sober and enjoying life only to be killed by a drunk driver.
Bad News Brown said that Bret and all his crew also used cocaine.
Yep. It's known for a long time that Bret did Coke. He's been open with it.
Nothing like hearing “If you wanted marijuana you went to the Sheik and if you wanted coke you went to Adrian”
It’s crazy to hear that about your dad
Hearing Bret Hart admit to doing coke made my 2023.
It was the 80's. Everyday was a snow day, and everyone road the slopes at least once.
11:32 “I just CHANGED the Finish!”
Chad move 😂
I never heard about the car accident, I'm from just around an half hour away from Lewisporte
You're right, Bret stooged off everybody who was doing drugs. This is why he didn't get along with the Kliq.
Nice dude another great episode 👍
3 months ago I found out about spivey fight, I also looked at 5-6 videos of fight . Very interesting.
Cocaine is a helluva drug….😂
Haven't seen this yet
Thank You for NOT saying Mike Rotundo!
good review
11:43 I love this, urgh if only Bret, if only
"Get your forks out."? That was a good one.
What a great wrestler. I laugh so hard , that's what it's about. RIP AWESOME ACT
I thought I would hear more about how he had to handle hateful fans when he was doing the “Adorable” gimmick. Cause I figured there was a lot of homophobic fans that would try and assault him only for him to put them in their place
They already did that with Kanyon
@@lancethefilmguy9392 but I’m talking about the 80’s at the time. For Kanyon it was about him being in the closet and how it ate away at him mentally to not be himself. It didn’t highlight the homophobia from fans where Adrian Adonis got despite only playing a gay character and being straight in real life
Just sad 😢😢😢man
Flint Michigan!!!!! I popped hard for that Fli City my city
Poor Adrian learned to hard way that Lives are gonna be in Waylon Mercy’s hands.
I need someone like that in my life to get me to drop weight.
The man with a thousand moves
Golddust was far more disturbing then Adonis ever was as The Adorable One.
I’m well aware of Dan Spivey and have seen what he looks like now.
You're right, Solomonster, Bret should have done that. I mean he was already on his way to WCW, so what would Vince do if he did that to Shawn, fire him? 😉😂🤣
I may be in the minority, but I don’t think Adonis’s fairy gimmick was bad.
I suffer from binge eating.
I think your history is a little off.
Adonis had some great matches with Bob Backlund for the title in 1982.
They really skimmed over the issue of homophobia in wrestling with Adonis. You probably can't air half the footage of what people heckled him with without huge censorship, because it was so over the top.
And that's exactly what they were going for at the time. Sad, but true.
I had to ought we would hear more about that. There had to have been homophobic fans who tried to do something to him or make death threats. That could be a future episode of Dark Side if there is a season 5. The homophobia in wrestling. Talk about how whenever a wrestler portrayed a gay gimmick and the chants he got, some wrestlers refusing to work with someone cause of the gimmick or cause he thought he was actually gay, and of course wrestlers hiding that they were gay
