only the BG 3/2 Mentor is interesting for food fight, sadly. The Forage cards don't really contribute, and none of they played it really safe with the food generation effects.
In that first game, I don't think Ben should have been able to fetch with Harbinger of the Seas, right? I don't think it wound up mattering *too* much overall, Serge was pretty hard locked on colors and Wheeler had a Ponder as a backup shuffle, but it's something to keep in mind.
I think it only mattered slightly because he admitted to being flooded after the Brainstorm, so that could have meant there was two lands on top before he shuffled on Serge's end step. Having the Ponder in hand just means it could have potentially been a completely different card he draw, maybe giving Serge another turn

14:25 Curious as to why Serge didn't like his first game 2 hand. On the play mox + saga = turn 2 karnstruct, turn 3 find mox for white source (if he still needed the white). We didn't get to see the 3 white cards left in his hand but that seemed pretty playable

Really enjoyed this BO5, thanks for the match!! also just putting it out there Loren of the Third Path would be a good one for an additional enchantment removal, and is legendary so can be cast off halfling and not be countered, tho weak to stifle on its trigger.
The topdeck tutors do feel awful when it's the top card though. Like I've just spent mana and a card for the sole purpose of giving my opponent information.
I swear, I've watched Wheeler play Serge probably half a dozen times or so in these videos, and I feel like Wheeler is like 12-2 in games or something silly like that
@@fairygoodmuller8065 yeah it's definitely fine but I find a strict abzan pile runs more smoothly. I still run academy but I have room for survival lands. My version is more combo focussed than Serge's though.
I know facing off against mono blue is rough just in general, but food themes as a whole feel much weaker without a commander to take advantage of them 🤔
