For some reason , I watched this and holding back tears.Firstly , C.B.E. Tony better stay well , or gets a feed bucket thrown at him.
And firstly , as thrust , through unimaginable hard work into public spotlight , we can all judge a personality of course. So , my reading , is a young lad from very humble upbringing , trying to be a jockey - something he wanted to do and succeed for himself and family. This against impoverishment that he saw all around , growing up.A dream many had.But to do it , in such a career , is to me testimony to the latency of people never given a chance.Courage has roots in inordinate places.
And let it be said , the racing game is riven , historically , with effects of bad politics too to be frank. This goes for owners , trainers and others.
A person with a nature we all know and respect , typical of the romance of horse racing. He is like The Pie of a whole era that marked reality.
Saw him , not long before retirement , on a horse at a midweek track.I thought he was merely a hard work product from a winner factory , wondering what the fuss was about. And rode a horse called ( something like Fils des Aires ) and won.I could simply not believe ( better than the late Wichita Lineman ride ) what he done on that animal to win.Astonishing.From there , I knew this jockey was remarkable indeed , in my perception. Then I considered the absurdity of 20 odd championship wins. Its unbelievable. But this is a very very real Mc.Coy.A notch in history. Bravery very understated.Showed how much racing can give to those who deserve it.Seems a real quiet , personable and family fellow.
    Champion sport found its champion.
    To C.B.E. M.cCoy - "that's life" !

Of all the info u can get on a race card, the racing post used to highlight his initials AP whenever he was riding, even though his name would be on anyway: as if to warn punters if they weren’t on his horse, they’d should keep their fingers crossed 😁.. no other jockey has had his initials highlighted in that way... after a while, they stopped putting it in: probably gave up😄😄

In addition , would like to say , alphabetically , JFrancome was horseman , JO'Neil was a natural , PScudamore was a very strong jockey.Remember , many owners come in to the game , for interest or to invest etc. but without such logic defying human attributes , that sport is nominal.Transport today , in parallel to human evolvement , was bourne out of horses mostly. These horseracing stable staff and jockeys are absolute transformers. And they have maintained the essential relativity , in a technological era , between the public and the country.Dont forget that.

yeah, I get tired of watching horses get hit with crops, but I think its more on the saddlepad maybe, for the noise? I hope so anyway, but it always looks like the horse is running his heart out to begin with and whipping them seems unnecessary to me to. but WTF do I know...
