    Nathan Graves (Circle of the Moon) is pretty good with a whip too, in my opinion. He's the only character who could rapidly spin his whip (besides Juste in Harmony of Dissonance, who needed an item to do it) to create an automatic makeshift barrier to protect himself. Other characters could only wiggle their whips manually, making a slower and less effective barrier.

    • @Firewolf_430

      His game is harder. There's no shop and you need to kill enemies in order to find out what they drop. It makes the game harder that you can't even have a list about enemies and thorough information about them.

    I still love this game though. I played this before I'd even ever heard of Rondo, so I didn't have this huge disappointment most people claim to have had.
    And I liked this game way better than I liked CV4. I think it looks nicer, it controls more like the NES games, and the music is lightyears better.

      Same here SCIV is the best!

    • @Darkprotoman64
      @Darkprotoman64 6 лет назад +4

      SCIV is probably one of the weaker titles in the franchise the whip is way too strong both the combination of the low recovery time and being able to whip in 8 directions makes the game way too easy. Over reliance on the whip ruins the sub weapon mechanic they dont feel as powerful anymore, in entries that came before and after SCIV the right sub weapon really made a difference and even then they all felt useful. Level design as well doesnt take in to consideration how strong your whip. There will be many points in the game where I can only assume the developers put an enemy there so you wouldn't feel lonely. They're put in spots where they cant even hurt you but you can since you can whip in 8 different directions. For some reason even the enemy design is easier from previous titles. Remember the skeletons and hunchbacks from castlevania 1?, well now they're 10 times easier even if you only had 1 direction you could swing the whip SCIV would still be miles easier than both previous and later entries.

    I remember playing this game on the super nes emulator back when I was a child and loving the gameplay.The thing I liked about this game is the the main character named richter has the power to use sub weapons to unleash unique magic depending which weapon of choice is used there even the fire whip power that can be unleashed if no sub weapon isn't available yet.When my brother got a key found at the end of stage 3 he discovered maria in the mine cave stage and give you a key to the hidden water ruins stage.I liked the hidden water ruins stage alot both the soundtrack called the picture of the ghost ship and the stage level and my brother liked the den theme but for me I liked the entire soundtrack both super nes and pc engine version this is a great game and also as a teenager I was surprised that this game is a remake version of japanese exclusive castlevania rondo of blood pc engine when I was watching videos from my middle school days.During my childhood days I use to use cheats to beat the game faster but away this game was my childhood thank you konami and thank you for uploading this video yeah to yes.

    • @Celestial07
      @Celestial07 8 лет назад +19

      To me, they were always 2 completely different games. The only difference is that this is a 're-imagination' of Rondo. And some sections within the levels were borrowed from Rondo as well. Ultimately, this is it's own beast.

      @arkanjoteixeira 6 лет назад +6

      Stephen P Both are great. But Rondo feels much more complete.

  • @hatduken5421
    @hatduken5421 10 лет назад +8

    This game reminds me more of Castlevania 1 than part 4 does. Part 4 has an entirely differnet look/feel than the NES trilogy. Part 4 the main character and enemies look really tall and not detailed, kind of weird looking. The character design, the stages, enemies, remixed music.. all of this seems like they tried to re-imagine part 1 with this game. Symphony of the night is similar too.

    • @hatduken5421
      @hatduken5421 10 лет назад

      ***** to rephrase I believe they have tried to make this game as close to Castlevania 1 on the NES as possible. Castlvania 4 on the SNES doesn't feel like a classic Castlevania to me.

    • @hatduken5421
      @hatduken5421 10 лет назад

      Yeah I like this one, Castlevania 1, 3, and the one on the mega drive, as well as Symphony of the Night.

    • @hatduken5421
      @hatduken5421 10 лет назад

      ***** Yeah, I think Simon's Quest was perceived as too hard compared to Castlevania 1 back in the day. Kids wanted a hack and slash, but got a Hack and slash hybrid with kind of an RPG, where there was stuff you had to do that was hard to figure out or unnessecarily time consuming. I'm not sure why Konami didn't just continue on with direct success of the first game. I guess they were trying something new.

    • @Stefandorf
      @Stefandorf 9 лет назад +3

      I agree with the character/enemy sprites, they look a bit too stretched. The game itself looks and feels much more like the classic trilogy then Dracula X in my opinion. The way how the levels are constructed in SC4 with lots of blocks and a classic HUD system. Dracula X has smoother graphics but the overall animé-ish style and faster phase doesn't feel the same. SC4 had some slower phased levels like the cavern but also fast phased levels like the rotating chamber. Also SC4 seems a bit longer then Dracula X. Both are great games though. Castlevania Rebirth on WiiWare was great too :) Classic Castlevania!

    • @gaupau

    On the Castlevania Advance collection, the music test feature has the original tracks from this game titled as their artifact titles from Rondo of Blood. For example the track that plays in the stage where you rescue Maria is titled "Cemetery" because in Rondo of Blood that track played in the cemetery level.

    Castlevania Dracula X has been described as an inferior version of Rondo of Blood, but I wholeheartedly disagree.
    An accurate way to describe it would be "re-imagining".
    This game's graphics are beautiful, and its use of Rondo of Blood's music themes feel very appropriate.
    The exclusion of Maria Renard as a playable character makes this version a better representative of the classic Castlevania gameplay.
    The one thing I'd change in it is the final duel; I would like for it to match its portrayal in Symphony of the Night, so it could connect to that game, as it deservedly should.

    I know most people prefer Super Castlevania IV, but this will always be my favourite SNES Castlevania game. I wasn't bothered that you couldn't do as much with the whip. The rest of the game controls just as fine in my opinion, and Dracula X has waaaaay better graphics and music. The boss fights feel way more engaging too in that they actually take more than five seconds to kill.

    Tried to run it on an emulator. There was some pirating protection that covered the screen with fire.

    This game gets a bad rap, it never was claimed to be a port of Rando, but a reimagining of the game instead. Of course you can't cram a CD game into a cart, so Konami didn't even try to do that. Yeah, no 8 directional whip swing, but that's what made Super Castlevania 4 a legit cakewalk (it was far too damned easy), while this one returns the challenge the series was know for at one time. The music was retained from Rondo, and even in chiptune form, sounds great.
    Bought this game, and Gokujou Parodius SFC boxed from a friend years back, $100 for both.

    People say this port is butchering to the pc engine version but there both good in their own ways because one has better quality and music while the other is inferior I find both to be good with the SNES version being good while the pc engine version is hmmm godly

    Well, that "princess" was supposed to fight like her turbografix counterpart. It's ashamed that this game was a canceled game but put on Rondo of Blood story into it at the last minute.

    After seeing this, I have more appreciation for Rondo of Blood on the PC-Engine. The music and sound effects don't sit well. 😕

      shadowshinobi06 Nope, this is just a personal preference. I like the beeping sound effects from the PC-Engine. I like the songs from the PC-Engine as well, I tried to like Dracula X, I really did but it didn't go well for me.

      I don't like the SNES version, I actually played it before I tried out the PC-Engine version. I just happen to like the PC-Engine more, despite its choppy framerate.

    Would've been a better video if you'd rescued both of them. The person playing is clearly capable, they just didn't want to. It kind of ruins the video for me, I guess.

    The PC Engine version is much longer. It also has better graphics and sound.

    This game is pretty easy even last boss once you play it a few times. I have beaten this game perfectly over 30x at least. Another lie about this game being hard, like Hagane being hard, once you master the Hagane controls it becomes child play and 10x more enjoyable game. I've beaten Hagane over 100x perfectly. There was a time I loved playing short games. Hagane was one of my favorite 25 minutes game.
    Hagane was mixed inside 10 sport games for $10 in eBay. First 3x I bought it was like this. I sold the first Hagane game cartridge for record $40 on eBay. the game was rare just not popular yet.

    Then you should play the Dracula X Chronicle (Remake of the TRUE RONDO OF BLOOD and also contained the original Rondo of Blood and Symphony of Night (Had some Extras from the JP ver. and Maria being playable though she played like her Rondo of Blood rather than her Sega Saturn ver.) In the 3D remake, if you rescued all of the maiden, Dracula will have his 3rd form and OH S*** that was MUCH harder than the Dracula in this game.
