Hiya, Amie! Like the others here, your vlogs are far superior to any other. Your natural charm, and fuss-free, honesty, just draws you in. Sadly, I'm one of those "old farts" that you briefly referred to, LOL, I'm 55, going on 30. I've been traveling the globe for decades, alone, primarily because I'm single, and my friends are either married, still have kids at home, or don't have the means to travel at leisure. I'm heading from Los Angeles to Koh Santa, for 6 nights, and then flying back to BKK to fly to Bali for 6 nights. Your style of travel is identical to my own, and I'm wondering if you have any suggestions for Bali, if you've been. Anyway, if you haven't already been approached to do professional travel shows, you should be. Give Condé Nast a ring. :)
Thanks so much for your kind words! I really appreciate it. I lived in Bali for 4 years so I'm happy to help. I can advise to stay away from Canggu, Seminyak and Kuta - they are very built up and the traffic is awful. I really like Amed. Ubud is busy but it's the cultural and spiritual heart of Bali, so worth checking out. Sanur is nice too. One of my favourite places in Bali is Nusa Lembongan. You'll need to catch a boat there - I think it's about an hour long. I spend most of my time on Gili Trawangan. The snorkelling and diving is incredible, but the journey there is fairly taxing. Please let em know if you have any more questions 😊
Really loved your video. I've watched like 100 videos on Thailand alone and you're one of the best and most informative. I love that you are included in the video but it's just enough to enjoy your vibe and get some good information. I'm headed to Koh Lanta with my husband and in-laws and I wasn't sure if I chose the right place on the island to stay. I actually chose the same area as you. Loved the price transparency too. So big thank you!
Don't normally like blogs but can see you really love Lanta it's an amazing place decided to build a house there after 35 years traveling Thailand. Its special.
I totally get how you were hooked on Lanta, it's a paradise for me. I stayed at Sayang Beach resort about 10mins by taxi bike from Sala'dan. Amazing beach, amazing people, amazing food, and sunsets to die for. What's not to Love. It puts the UK to shame.
Nice work! I've been watching videos on Koh Lanta for weeks and yours is by far the best! I absolutely love the shorts you're wearing on day 2 @ around 12 minute mark. Where did you get them? I'm looking to find comfortable clothes before traveling to Thailand for 2 months at the end of this year. Thanks!
Hi Kristina, thanks so much! I got my shorts from Ghanda Clothing in Australia a few months ago. They are so comfortable! I hope you have a blast in Thailand
Hi Amie, I’m going in May in Ko Lanta in May but I wonder how the weather is. I’m afraid if the rain impacting my trip so wonder if I should start of in Lanta.
Hey Amie, Last time I was in Ko Lanta was late 2004, actually proposed to my wife there! Was thinking of going back with friends, and was hoping that it hadn't lost the chilled vibe that it had back then. Looks like it is still nice and chilled out. Thanks for the vid. New Subscriber from the Sunny Coast.
I've enjoyed your video very much. Of the several videos of Koh Lanta I've seen, yours is the most informative. Btw, I fully support dual pricing: we come to Thailand from countries where an average income is at a minimum 10-20 times higher than the Thai equivalent. Thai people could not get to see their own country if they were charged the still modest entrance fees to national parks, waterfalls, etc. foreign tourists are charged.
Hi Amie! Great content-Love everything about what you're doing and what a breath of fresh air compared to other creators! I'm about to travel SE Asia for a year and absolutely LOVE your style--Any chance you could drop the brands of the flowy shorts and brown crossbody bag you are wearing in this video? I'd appreciate it so much! I plan to live in that exact look all year! Love the dresses too!
This video convinced me to come to Koh Lanta and I’m so glad I did!! I love it here 😍😍😍 Thank you! What camera did you use for snorkeling/under water? It’s so clear and beautiful!! 🤩🤩
Love the video. Really appreciate your sensitive takes on being a traveler regarding bartering etc. And you're just fun to listen to! One Q if you see this: How's the nightlife? We're looking for a mix of the beauty I'm seeing here and places to socialize.
Thanks so much for watching! The nightlife is a bit of an older crowd - 40s to 60s. It's a lot more subdued than the other islands like Phuket, but there are still a lot of beach bars and places to hang out and meet other travellers.
KO lanta I have been there twice and it is a very worthwhile place to travelling. I think that apart from Koh Lipe.Lanta is the most worthwhile place to visit in Thailand.
This was such an informative video. And your joy in Koh Lanta was easy to see. We’ll be following your excellent advice and have subscribed to follow your other travels.
Hi There nice vlog of Lanta, have been going here since 95 it's a very special place and I keep going back. Also loved the 3 island tours. I don't think it's the last time you will go either....
Great video I can’t wait to visit Thailand at the end of this year! Definitely adding Koh Lanta to my itinerary after watching you video. What’s the name of the hotel you stayed at?
Great video. We are thinking of going and after watching your video we are convinced to go. Really like your music in the video, would it be possible know what the name of the songs you chose? Thank you.
Hi Amie What a Great video 🙏🏻 The beach you are on when you are sitting in a beach chair is that the same area that your hotel is ? I like there is a bit of life on the beach as well as restaurants. 😊
Good video, appreciate what you said about the haggling and also the scooters. Heading that way with my wife and 5 year old in July. Think we’ll give koh lanta a go!
I think I’m convinced. I’m flying to Phuket in a couple of weeks and I’m considering transferring to Koh Lanta from there. Thanks for the great content!
Hi there Just watched your vlog. We are from Australia and planning a trip to Thailand with our three kids 17,15,10. We are going to stay at club med Phuket ( it’s so against my ideal place ) for all the inclusive activities to give my husband and I break. But really want a place to go as well to give them some traditional restaurant huts on the beach type thing, snorkeling , markets etc. This looks perfect. I think it was on my list like 20 years ago. Does anyone have any tips / activities they would recommend for teens? Thinking maybe 4-5 nights then the same in Phuket
There is an elephant and tiger sanctuary in Phuket and there are jet skiing tours around the islands from Phuket. Go to Koh Phi Phi Don for busy island. You can go see Koh Phi Phi Leh there too,
great Vlog!! can I ask when you were travelling there? Would be good to know if it would still be this quiet. Exactly what im looking for is a chilled island.
interesting..how was the weather as I want to go this may but my friend advised not too due to the weather so I thought march would be better@@amie.everywhere thanks for the reply
Thank you for this video! My kids just got to Ko Lanta and it’s a ghost town rn due to the monsoons. Wanted to see where they are and ease my nerves a bit. You’re adorable … and your name is spelled the same as mine! 😊 Don’t see that often!
Hi Amie, i will arrive to koh lanta in february, i have no license to drive a scooter for Thailand.. But in France it's ok for us, we drive motorbike... Is it possible to rent this without a problem with local police ? And if i rent bicycle, it's a long distance to visiting the Island... And for tuktuk, is it expensive ?? Thank you.. It's a nice video
Hi, if you have a motorbike licence in France then it is legal to ride a scooter in Thailand. If not, you can still rent a scooter, but if the police stop you, you may have to pay a small bribe. The island is quite big and there are many hills in the south so a bicycle isn't recommended. The price of Tuk Tuk's are based on your bartering skills, but can be quite affordable. I hope you have a great time!
Wow Amie…. Looks beautiful in Koh Lanta !) Thanks for sharing the scenery & info. My 40s are way better than my 30s already sooo age is just an attitude ;) Take care, love yourself and be open to being loving 🪬
Great video. Thank you. Question…how feasible is it to ride a bicycle around the island (I don’t mean all over, but between the beaches etc. and just for getting around)?
The south side of the island is fairly mountainous, so riding a bike may be very strenuous. But the beaches located north and in the middle, might take about an hour to ride from one to the other. The roads are very bumpy though. Thanks for watching.
Hi Amie, I'm so glad this came across my feed. This is a great reflection of the island, and I can't wait to visit. Safe travels and hope to see you on the beautiful beaches of the world ⛱️
...If you think Ko Lanta beaches are quiet, did you check out the Raja Ampat islands, and Komodo islands, of Indonesia? If you love adventure and going off-the-beaten track I definitely suggest you check it out! Waigeo, Batanta and Salawati, as well as Misool is the picture of paradise, this is Raja Ampat. About Komodo islands, Alor island, Flores and Sumba together with Komodo National Park is stunning! Ko Lanta is an amazing place to feel like at home away from home, its just the perfect balance between infrastructure and laid-back isolation but it used to be more adventurous place back then I believe. Its an amazing place for long stays but for me I go for rougher areas if I am looking for adventure. For comfort and long stays definitely Ko Lanta. Btw you look amazing and I can't wait to be back to get that perfect tan. Happy travels to the Philippines if that is where you are going next.
There are only a few around, mostly in the south of the island. near the national park. I think I saw maybe 5 monkeys the entirety of my 3 week stay, and they were always in the distance.
What is the busiest resort on the west coast to go to, ma and a couple of mates are going shortly, we are not backpackers but will need a few bars restaurants to keep us busy
🎉❤🎉 thank you so very much! I just randomly saw your vlog it’s amazingly done and the island is just beautiful as how you’ve described it. I’m planning to visit Lanta since long hopefully I will be able to go there sooner 🎉. I used to spend my vacations on Samui. I was first there in ca. 40 years ago. Back then there were not even electricity on the roads, not to mention about an airport. I have been there continuously through out the years… just don’t want to go there anymore 😅😂 again thank you very much for this vlog. And… wishing you a SAFE JOURNEY in the Philippines❤️❤️🌹🙏🙏謝謝
Thank you! I hope you both are having a wonderful time in kho Lanta I’m planning to pay it a visit too. I just landed Samui at some 38 years ago! Back then there was no electricity on the roads only in bungalows or in resorts. Day time driving a bike to get fruits from the market you’ll find dead dogs n chickens around so terrible. Anyways good to fund your vlog online I’ll keep on following you. Please take good care and stay safe and healthy ❤️🙏🙏
Hi Amie, thanks so much for this really great video. I've watched a lot about Koh Lanta and your video was very relatable. Furthermore I booked the same accomodation as you since your arguments were really convincing :-) Thanks again! I'll make sure to preschribe to your channel! :-)
We have just returned home from a month in Koh Lanta and we loved it so much, your videos was super impressive thank you for sharing We have subscribed if you wouldn’t mind retiring the favour we would appreciate it the love ❤
2h by private car or van for 85usd in Thailand? You showed a van but said private car, which is it? It's 12$ in Palawan for a 5h ride in a modern comfy van from El Nido to Puerto Princesa. Also what month were you here?
Does anyone know if Koh Lanta's version of the 'tuktuk' is available to rent? In the video at the 13:38 mark, it looks to me that a tourist is operating the tuktuk with a group of friends... can't seem to find this option with the recommended Lanta Sky operator. Thanks!
THANK YOU FOR THIS! Is the internet fast at your hotel? I ask because I will be staying for about a week and I need fast internet to work at night. I do online video conferencing. Could you please let me know? Thank you!
If your going to Negombo don't change money at the airport, in Negombo go to Jewel Lanka on the main street as they give a far better rate, also when you leave Sri Lanka dont take any Sri Lankan currency with you as most other counties wont exchange it.
No sharks except little reef sharks which are rare to see and not near the beaches. The water is too warm. I'm not sure of the prices of properties, but if you're interested on how much I paid for accomodation I have mentioned it in the vlog. Thanks for watching!
Yes you legally need a motorbike license in your own country to ride a scooter in Thailand. If the police stop you, you will be fined or need to pay a bribe. If you have an accident you wont be covered by your insurance if you don't have a license. As I said in my vlog - SE Asia us NOT a smart idea to ride a scooter for the first time. It's very dangerous. There are plenty of tuktuks available or you can rent a car.
Hiya, Amie!

Came off a motorbike on koh lanta. Still have the farang tattoo. Reside now in samui. All lovely places
Ouch. Samui is a beautiful place. I’ve got a Bali tattoo from when I stepped back into an exhaust.
Hi Amie, I’m going in May in Ko Lanta in May but I wonder how the weather is. I’m afraid if the rain impacting my trip so wonder if I should start of in Lanta.

I was there march 2018!!! So blessed to have discovered!
It's such a beautiful place!
Hi I’m sorry I didn’t catch the name of the cottages you stayed at? Thank you
An infectiously positive attitude. Loved the video! Thanks!
This video convinced me to come to Koh Lanta and I’m so glad I did!! I love it here 😍😍😍 Thank you!
What camera did you use for snorkeling/under water? It’s so clear and beautiful!! 🤩🤩
I'm so so happy I could help! I used the GoPro 10. I find if I add a slight hue of purple in the edit, the colours tend to show better.

Went to Lanta 1995.. nothing but huts and red dust roads,, Amazing change
I can image how beautiful it was back then. You were so lucky to experience it like that.
Great video! Planning a trip there, this was super helpful!
Also, you’re so pretty, Amie❤

Hi there
Just watched your vlog.

There is an elephant and tiger sanctuary in Phuket and there are jet skiing tours around the islands from Phuket. Go to Koh Phi Phi Don for busy island. You can go see Koh Phi Phi Leh there too,
Definitely snorkelling! It's some of the best I've ever done.
Thank you so much
Love this video , finally someone talking out how to make it to Lanta from Bangkok.

Wonderful video! You've got yourself a new subscriber! ❤

Hi Amie! Are there monkeys everywhere there? Or only in certain spots? Trying to avoid the wild monkeys :)

@@amie.everywhere Thanks so much for the info :)
What camera do you use to film underwater?
GoPro 10
Awesome vlog! Just one question I have. How is police check situation there for tourisrs who are riding motorbikes?
Good question - I saw no police checks when I was there. But it's best to have an international bike licence and wear a helmet just in case.
@@amie.everywhere thanks!
Hey Amie!
Loved your Koh Lanta video. ❤Wanted to ask the location of night market.
Hi! The market is in Ban Saladan which is the main town in Koh Lanta. It's hard to miss at night because the town is very small.
@@amie.everywhere Thank you 🙏

I don't know a specific resort, but any place at Klong Nin Beach is probably the best.
Super paradis🎉
Hi Amie! Can you let us know where you stayed? Would love to book the same accommodations ☺️
Great info, thanks so much for sharing!

I'm so happy you found value in my vlog! I hope you have a fantastic time in Koh Lanta and staying at Lanta Lapaya - it's such a great hotel!
Excellent video and love your enthusiasm. 😊
Your honest opinion on thailand made me laugh so hard.😂 Love your videos❤

You’ve just sold me Koh Lanta in one!
I hope you get to visit! It's a great island.

Glad it was helpful!
We have just returned home from a month in Koh Lanta and we loved it so much, your videos was super impressive thank you for sharing
We have subscribed if you wouldn’t mind retiring the favour we would appreciate it the love ❤
Thanks!
Is the nature trail quiet easy for someone with light walking problems,??
THANK YOU FOR THIS! Is the internet fast at your hotel? I ask because I will be staying for about a week and I need fast internet to work at night. I do online video conferencing. Could you please let me know? Thank you!
Yes the internet was great. I also do online video meetings and it worked great!
For the private car/taxi, it should be about 1500 baht, no more than 2000 and as a little as 1200
Fabulous vlog, Retired Brit living Sri Lanka 25 years, if you need any info.
I'm actually off to Sri Lanka next week!!
Amazing because I am off from Sri Lanka to Bangkok for a week on Friday!@@amie.everywhere
If your going to Negombo don't change money at the airport, in Negombo go to Jewel Lanka on the main street as they give a far better rate, also when you leave Sri Lanka dont take any Sri Lankan currency with you as most other counties wont exchange it.
Great tips! Thanks so much
Please what is the song playing chilling with my friends for another year?
Any sharks? Price of properties?
No sharks except little reef sharks which are rare to see and not near the beaches. The water is too warm.
I'm not sure of the prices of properties, but if you're interested on how much I paid for accomodation I have mentioned it in the vlog.
Thanks for watching!
You have a lovely voice 👍🏻
Love from India ❤❤❤❤❤
Should I be worried about jellyfish in koh Lanta?
I wasn't worried about them. There were a few around but I'm not sure if they sting.
@@amie.everywhere okay, thanks for the info.
your voice give me chills. dont know why
What is the best way to reach Krabi airport from Ko Lanta?
There is a public bus, or you can get a private transfer. I go over all of these options and prices in the very beginning of this vlog.
22:14 Snake sea Vemon. 😮
Great Video, nice pics of the scenery, and a cute girl to eat raw........!
Do you need driving license to rent scooter? I don’t drive so not sure how I’ll move around the island other than cycling?
Yes you legally need a motorbike license in your own country to ride a scooter in Thailand. If the police stop you, you will be fined or need to pay a bribe. If you have an accident you wont be covered by your insurance if you don't have a license. As I said in my vlog - SE Asia us NOT a smart idea to ride a scooter for the first time. It's very dangerous. There are plenty of tuktuks available or you can rent a car.
You better can put the environment on it,to many people put them self on it
What was your accomodation in Koh Lanta?
It was called Lanta Lapaya. I feature it in the vlog along with the price I paid. Thanks for watching!
Who's the dude working the camera?
If it's not me holding the camera, or being balanced on a tree...I can sometimes wrangle my husband into holding it for me.
Why you leaving this paradise ???
Maybe there's more to find - I'll never know if I don't go! :)
She found her a Thai Rasta and don't wanna leave?
Thank you 🤩
You’re welcome 😊
I'm on my way.
I hope you have an amazing time!
