Furthermore, this already comes with a drag clicker whereas some of the reels you named do not. Compared to the gravity bfs this will be a slightly heavier reel that can handle a higher weight range. I believe the manufacturer rated this reel for 0.8-15g lure weights whereas the gravity bfs/arise air is meant for 0.6-10g. The gravity bfs/arise air also uses a carbon fiber frame whereas this uses a magnesium alloy frame. Imho, though I would look at the silver feather reels. Ooc what lure range are you looking to cast and what’s your budget? Cheers my friend!
@@BFSFISHINGCHANNEL thanks for the explanation! The lure range is about 1-8 grams and the budget is not very important as long as i can enjoy the reel 😁 this one looks very promising
@Cherryberry020 hey cherry! Hm… if you are looking at 1-8g as your primary lure range I might actually suggest looking at the silver feather reels over this. If you don’t want a digitally controlled reel the silver feather air and elite should do well for you as they both use the same magnetic brake system and are very convenient to cast. I have some videos on the silver feather air on the channel and if you check out the purelure zero video you can also see it in action more there. The silver feather elite will be similar but has an aluminum frame and an “upgraded” line guide. The arise ultra air is a larger reel and I would probably equate it more as something like a 70-80 sized reel whereas the SF reels are closer to a 50 size. Imho, either look at the silver feather air, silver feather elite or if you want to try a digital reel maybe the silver feather miiec exa(have not yet tested this reel though). Hope that helps! Cheers my friend!
@@BFSFISHINGCHANNEL thanks you very much, that digital one looks very good too and i think i will look into getting that one, it has most of the same specs as that 2024 arise but digital sounds interesting 😁😁
@Cherryberry020 hey cherry! Yep! I have the loongze b50 dbc-1 which uses the same braking system and this and if the DMK silver feather miiec exa is anything like that reel it should be a very nice reel to use. Cheers my friend!
Hey Alex! Unfortunately, it will not be compatible. This is because the arise air, arise elite and arise ultra air all have different spool diameters; 28mm, 32mm and 30mm respectively. Hope that helps and cheers my friend!
Hey lofi! So I asked Haibo and they said that the magnesium is an oxidized form and so should be able to handle the salt. However, I always take salt ratings with a grain of… salt… I’d make sure to maintain and even do a good premaintenance on a reel before using it in the salt. This would include adding a light coating of grease to much of the internals and also giving the reel a decent rinse in freshwater after use in salt water. Cheers my friend!
Hey doc! Nothing gets by you! Haha I appreciate your observation and letting me know! I think I had mentioned it in the video but not quite… I probably pulled one of those thought about it in my head but never quite explained it because my brain is off on another topic of what needs to be discussed lol. Since my videos aren’t scripted there are going to be some things I inevitably miss, especially as I get older 😆. Anywho, I appreciate your comment and observation and hope you are doing well as always! Cheers my friend!
Would you say this reel is smoother than the aldebaran bfs? I well and truly enjoy reels with little to no geariness - is this maybe similar in smoothness to the Metanium?
Hey Magnus! No unfortunately mine has a bit of geariness present which is likely due to the star drag stack being shimmed a bit thin. When the star drag is a bit tighter the reel feels smoother but the Aldebaran and metanium are both smoother reels overall. Shimano had micromodule down to a science. Geariness is one thing CDM manufacturers are a bit hit or miss on and while it’s not terrible it’s also not a wonderful feeling as well. If you want reels with no geariness at all you’ll probably have to stick with daiwa or shimano for the time being. That said there are a few CDM reels that are on the same level of smoothness as daiwa and shimano but Haibo still has a bit of work in that department I think. Another contributing factor to perceived geariness are also the bearings used. If manufacturers use ceramic or hybrid ceramic bearings it can add a bit of “roughness” to the retrieve which people might incorrectly attribute to geariness. Hope that helps and cheers my friend!
@@BFSFISHINGCHANNEL I never got the notification for this reply but thank you so much for this! I've currently got the acura pro with the bearings you recommended, I can't really get it to cast 2-3 gram lures paired with a 2-8 gram purelure telescopic rod (I highly recommend this one by the way, I picked it up for 40 euros), which I will switch for the creek dance 1-6 gram 5 piece to hopefully cast a little lighter - the geariness also definitely gets to me sometimes so I think I might switch to the daiwa tatula 70 with the gomexus spool. Do you think this is a good choice? Or should I shell out the money and cry later for the Aldebaran?
@@magnusjvl hey Magnus! Yea RUclips is a bit odd with the reply notifications I think… As far as your question goes regarding the tatula70 vs Aldebaran imho if you want to cast light then I would rather spend money on the Aldebaran or if you want to cast under 1g then look at the FF01 Cormorant. By far I have enjoyed using the cormorant over every other reel I have reviewed this year. Anywho, hope that helps! Cheers my friend!
@@magnusjvl hey Magnus! No geariness but the spool bearings are what they call high speed bearings so you do feel them a bit. I’m guessing that they’re a hybrid ceramic bearing which is why you can hear them slightly and feel them a bit. I’d say the Aldebaran is “smoother” because you can’t feel the stainless steel bearings they’re using. That said, the cormorant will outcast the Aldebaran any day of the week. Hope that helps! Cheers my friend!
What is it about this reel that is supposed to surpass the Elite? What warrants the considerable price jump? What are they advertising as its selling points? Any idea when the 'on the water' review is coming? I haven't seen anyone else on the net do a review for this reel. It makes me wonder if there are some significant cons.
Hey 20! The main difference between this reel and the elite is the frame material being magnesium and the spool diameter being 30mm. The elite uses an aluminum frame material and a 32mm diameter. They mainly advertise the Ultra Air as sort of an all around do it all reel. As for the on the water impressions I am not sure when I plan to release that. I want to get a good feel for what the reel is like before I give my impressions on the reel. Currently I’ve got quite a few reels to test and look at as well. My current testing fmethod is to use a reel, then visit other reels and then come back to it a bit later so that I might see things that I hadn’t before. Currently, I have found a few nitpicks things about this reel and some odd findings but overall it has been quite nice. Cheers my friend!
Hey Frank!!! Haha I appreciate the young man comment =). Don’t know that I quite classify as a young man anymore but I will take it!!! As for your question, I think I would be hesitant to use this reel in salt conditions but I will check with Haibo. The reason I feel like it should be avoided with this is that on the main gear side of the inner portion of the frame you can actually see some exposed alloy. Magnesium is extremely oxidation prone in salt water and so unless this is some special magnesium alloy that is resistant to corrosion I’d probably avoid salt use with this. Ooc, what specifications are you looking for in a salt reel? What lure weight range, how much line, what line goh, price range, frame material preferences and finally are you looking for long distance casting? Cheers my friend!
I bought the Haibo Arise Elite during the last sale. It hasn't even arrived yet, and they've already come out with something newer. Just my luck! 🤦🏻♂️
Hey Dan! Well here’s the odd thing… Haibo has said that this isn’t supposed to be officially for sale in the US =\. I'm totally lost in all those latest chinese reel developments. What would a decent chinese reel of those recent models be that could serve as a replacement for the good old Haibo Smart on a 1 oz bass rod for (hard plastic jerkbait) lures ranging from ~10g to ~25g? I'd imagine it would need to have about the same reel diameter as the Smart, which is 34mm IIRC. Is there anything at all, actually? Everyone seems to be crazy about BFS these days, are there any reels for the 1-oz range?
Hey user! I mean seeing as my channel focuses on BFS gear it would make sense that I focus on… BFS reels? I might be the wrong person to ask about reels for the lure weight range you are looking for. To be honest, for $190 price tag I would suggest to buy Shimano ALDEBARAN BFS or Daiwa Alpha Air. I have Haibo Pro+ and Haibo Elite and used for a while. It is smooth without load, but you can feel its gear‘s teeth clearly under load such as using VIB.
Hey Jinsuo! Long time no talk!!! I do agree that the Haibo reels I’ve owned have bit a bit geary and that the Aldebaran is quite smooth but I think these reels fit different roles and are still at different price ranges. The Aldebaran is going for around $60 more than this reel is. I haven’t really bothered looking at the daiwa AA as it’s an older reel now and no drag clicker. Imho, modern bfs reels should include clickers but that’s neither here nor there. Back to the geary feeling… yea this reel also has a bit of that under 0 load and a loose star drag. When you tighten the drag a lot of that feeling goes away but there is still a small amount of geary feeling so I think it’s a combination of needing a thicker washer in the star drag stack but also maybe some slight issues with gear cutting. It’s not a deal breaker though but yes I agree that they should be getting better at making their gears mesh better. I will have to see how the feeling is under load as I haven’t tested that yet. Cheers my friend!
@@BFSFISHINGCHANNEL I think the main reason is the reel's processing accuracy. You can see its one-way bearing is loose and easy to take off which will cause main gear wears quickly under load. That is the root cause of geary feeling after used a while even a new reel comes smooth. Japanese reel has a higher processing accuracy makes it last smooth for a longer time in my opinion.
@jinsuozhang9432 hey jinsuo! Not sure where you are getting that the anti reverse bearing on this reel is loose? I haven’t done a tear down and so haven’t explored that. Additionally, the arise air actually had the AR bearing press for quite well and screwed in iirc. I would expect the same for this reel. One thing that the Haibo have that the alde also doesn’t have is a keyed AR bearing sleeve. It makes the Aldebaran have quite a bit of handle slop and I don’t quite understand why Shimano couldn’t just provide a keyed AR bearing sleeve… I have talked with Haibo and they have said that they are working on improving the gear mesh but also I replaced a thin star drag washer and quite a bit of the geariness was removed. So I think for this reel it might be mostly due to improper shimming and less a gear meshing issue. Anywho, I gotta say that CDM still isn’t quite at the level of micromodule and digigear but they’re quite close and have produced some stellar reels like the cormorant. I even sold my Aldebaran because imho the cormorant is a superior performing reel in almost every way. Ok before I write an essay I appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts as always and it’s so great to see you commenting on the channel again! It’s been so long since we’ve had a great discussion =). Cheers my friend!
Hey 01! Hm… just curious if you could elaborate on that? Were you talking specifically about the look of the reel or maybe another part? Would love to know what you’re trying to talk about exactly. Cheers my friend!
Man that awful grey color is just like….why? It’s like this manufacturer specializes in awful boring colors, 90% of all their bfs reels look like this. Like just make it black at this rate, this reel looks like graphite from a mechanical pencil.
Hey John! Haha fair point but I will say on the flip side that most reels out there are a silver, gray, or black because they’re technically “neutral” tones that kind of match with most other colors. I, for one, really liked the bold outrageous blue and orange color scheme of the FF01 kingfisher but a lot of people absolutely hated it.. =\. It’s hard to please everyone is what I’ve gleaned but it might be nice to offer multiple colorways so people have choices? Imho, the gunmetal isn’t too bad and actually is a bit different from most gunmetal silvers as it’s got some rainbow-y flakes in it. Probably the camera didn’t pick any of that up but my daughter pointed that out to me… lol she’s an expert in shiny glittery things so very easy for her to pick up on that haha. I do understand your point though and hear you loud and clear. I would love nothing more than to see some more variety in colorways but mass appeal typically wins out sometimes.
Can you check if spool is compatible with Haibo air ?
Hey Alex! Unfortunately, it will not be compatible. This is because the arise air, arise elite and arise ultra air all have different spool diameters; 28mm, 32mm and 30mm respectively. Hope that helps and cheers my friend!
Can the reel handle saltwater fishing applications?
Great video... 4g difference probably due to the handle covers Doc 1/5
@@BFSFISHINGCHANNEL your the greatest man! Doc
@quanloikid1 hey doc! Haha I’m not so sure about that but I greatly appreciate you saying so!
@@BFSFISHINGCHANNEL Does the Cormorant have any sort of geariness or sensation in the gears at all?
Young man just saw your Video ,ques9 can this reel be used for in shore fishing ?
Cool...going to test it?
Hey Chris! Ofc! Hope the weather won’t be in the 90s(F) this weekend… 😅. Cheers my friend!
I bought the Haibo Arise Elite during the last sale. It hasn't even arrived yet, and they've already come out with something newer. Just my luck! 🤦🏻♂️
Me too. I just received my elite last week and now something new is out.
Hey Dan! Well here’s the odd thing… Haibo has said that this isn’t supposed to be officially for sale in the US =\. I’ve also checked with one aliexpress store and they flat out said they can’t ship to the US… you may have gotten lucky with your elite purchase. In any case, the elite is still a metal framed reel and a bit cheaper than this. Cheers my friend!
@@bryanneo9585hey Bryan! Yea =| that’s just kind of how things go sometimes… I’m sure you’ll get good use out of the elite though as I am sure that that will be a versatile reel! Cheers my friend!
@@bryanneo9585 What do you think of it so far, Bryan?
@@danspanos love the reel's casting. Very beginner friendly.
Apologies but it’s just a different category and a completely different class of reels that the channel doesn’t focus on. In any case, I appreciate you taking the time to comment and share your thoughts and questions(even though I can’t quite answer them =\). Cheers my friend!
@@BFSFISHINGCHANNEL Yeah sure that's obvious.
I didn't intend to demand anythng, of course, and meant no offense whatsoever.
Just thought, since the folks here are (obviously) generally into baitcasting and chinese reels in particular, maybe someone might advise something to look at.
@@s_s-g4d hey user! No offense taken at all! Not everyone is into BFS and I get that for sure. I have direct contact with Haibo and can pass along your question to them if you’d like? Let me know and cheers my friend!
@@BFSFISHINGCHANNEL I'd sure appreciate that (and not only I, but everyone who comes across this with the same question). The question would basically be: "what is a modern day replacement for Haibo Smart 151MCS on a 1oz rod used with hard plastic jerkbaits?"

Waiting for loongze "dc" low profile reel review
Hey zami! Ah yea unfortunately I don’t think I’ll be picking that one up as it isn’t quite classified as a bfs reel. Also, the b50 dbc-1 may be the last loongze reel I review sadly. Unfortunately I am no longer able to purchase or procure the reel from Loongze China =\. I’ll have to find another way of procuring them if I want to review them. Cheers my friend!

Lot of advertisers out that that masquerade as reviewers… hard to filter through all of that muck =\. Anywho, thanks so much for the kind words and cheers my friend!
Дизайн ужасный
Anywho, I appreciate you sharing your thoughts and cheers my friend!
