I've had a Haibo Arise Air on my 3' 9" fiberglass BFS set up for a while and have had no issues but I got comfy opening and setting it at home first but that's just me. I've been using Setting# 2 on the inside and +4 on the outside and haven't changed it in a while. I also use Varivas Max Power PE x8 in #0.06(14.5lb.) along with Seaguar InvizX 8 lb. flourocarbon and it works great for me. I also use a little ZAP Slo Thick CA glue on my Yucatan knot but that's just my old habits from throwing shooting heads with a saltwater fly rod.
Oh my… I actually quite dislike the direct on/off side plates. It does not fit very well out of the box. There’s a couple of other reels that have this. I have no idea why… why not just use the side lock secondary mechanism. Keeps the side plate safer from falling off. I’ll have my somewhat in depth final review of the air coming out soon. Just need to figure out to organize all of my thoughts and findings haha. Cheers Sean!
Totally agree. It's not very convenient especially for an angler wanting to make changes on the fly... The line in the inductor cup spring was irritating. Only took 1 loop of line to get tangled
@@BayAreaBFS is your inductor broken??? Fixable? You can still share you thoughts and findings prior to the inductorsplosion 😅. The reel gets a lot right but has some things it doesn’t…
Just subscribed so new. Trying to learn more about the Arise Air. Struggling to throw ul baits and also a victim of the internal brake system. But, love your device for carrying multiple rods. Info please.
i had the same experience as you with the varivas line on my daiwa alphis air only managed to get a few casts with it before the line snaped tied on another lure same thing line broke did a third time broke off again.
From a FB thread, Varivas is aware of this and don't recommend anything below 0.6gou for baitcasters. Wish I had known about this before purchasing so much line from them
I had the same experience with Duel Hardcore X4 about a decade ago and i swore off the brand since then. And from my experience, especially when it comes to BFS fishing since we're using lighter lines, power casting is almost a no-no; always let the rod do the casting, that way, you will reduce the frequency of getting birdnests and losing lure to snapped line.
In regards to Varivas, for long casts, dont go lower than 0.8 goh. I had the same issues with many of their lines. The BaitFinessex4PE line is my go to for the most part as its also coated and is stiffer than most lines that helps with backlash/birdsnests.
That is good to know. I was going to get that line in the 0.6 goh. Right now I only have a Kast King Zephyr. The best lines I have used on it, are KastKing Tri Polymer 4lb, and Yo-Zuri hybrid 8 lb. I am still going back and fourth on some reels. I was looking at the Air Arise, or the Genius. I thought about getting both or just one and save up and get a JDM.
@@noobpyrotech9991Strongly recommend going with braid as a main line and add on a mono or fluoro leader if you need the characteristics of those lines. Braid's lack of memory and toughness with respect to pulling out a backlash adds a TON of forgiveness to these reels. I usually fill my spool with 50-65% of the cheapest mono I can find and then add 100-150 feet of good quality braid on top. No issues so far.
I’ve found .06gou (8-10lbs equivalent) braid is the perfect line for me. Been having some issues with casting mono on the BFS reels. Need to figure out what’s going on with me. I have no issues with mono or flouro on my regular casting reels
Ciao amico. Uso un micro duolock snap alla fine della mia linea principale. Poi lo collego al duolock sul Chatterbait. Spero che questo sia d'aiuto. Fammi sapere se posso elp ulteriormente.
I thought this was supposed to be about the Haibo Arise Air? Lesson #2 was 2:40 long about a braid line I've never heard of. Lesson #3 was not related to the Arise Air either.
Sorry if I misled you. Was simply taking the reel out again until the Varivas braid hosed my attempt. I have a separate video on initial impressions of the Arise Air on the water. It's a great reel
I always carry a spare spool. If one fouls up pop in another and keep fishing. Love that rod stand. Great video.
Smart man! Preparing for worst case scenario is key to having a good day on the water. Thanks for watching! The rod stand is made by Daiwa

I love my Arise Air reel. Holding up great!

Looking forward to your in-depth review. I was trying to do the same until... Well... I couldn't...

Don't think it's broken. But, still can't get the line out of the spring. Likely will have to disassemble the spool
@@BayAreaBFS interesting… well… make a video of it! Might help some other folks out there 👍

Thanks for subbing! It's the Daiwa Lurerod 300 rod stand. I love it!
I ordered from eBay. It's a JDM item. Can also order from here: fishing.asian-portal.shop/category/select/cid/452/pid/192987

Agreed. Less is more with finesse fishing.
2 inch Eurotackle B-Vibes and 1/8oz super round jig heads should get that 22alde setup catching. XD
Will give it a shot!

Check your guides I kept breaking braid , I noticed one of the ceramic rings had a crack and was cutting the thin braid
Thanks! I can confirm it's not the rings. Only happens with this line
8:37 spool looks over filled?
I only spool 50m or less depending on what I’m targeting and waters
I try to keep the line simple on my BFS reels. Old 4 or 6 pound test monofilament.

bruh idk what camera you're using but even smartphones will record in 1080p no problem. great content but rough to watch at 480p in 2023
Thanks for the feedback. Weird, thought it was in 1080p. That's the lowest I use. Will double check my settings
@@BayAreaBFS yeah it must be youtube upload settings have you locked in to 480p max res. should be easy fix in that case.
Thanks for letting me know!
So much hype about the Haibo Air, It is NOT the quiet reel for the price.
It’s pretty darn quiet imho. Not as smooth as the Aldebaran or CQ2023 though
