- Welcome to the M0OGY Radio and Antenna Review of the latest President Grant II ASC known as the Premium.
In this first preview video I look around the Citizens' Band radio tranceiver and compare it with the original version, the one in the video was the first to land in the United Kingdom and the very radio I used on the countdown video to legal AM and SSB within our country back in 2014.
The Grant II became the legal multi-norm SSB transceiver of choice, but not without a few issues such as what became known as the Phantom Mic Keyer .
Hopefully this new revised version addresses these issues.
In the coming few days I will conduct some "On Air" tests and compare both my Grant II tranceivers.
Please watch for my part 2 video and feel free to comment below.

Great start Dave certainly changes have been made, look forward to seeing how it grafts against the older version
Hi Dave,Another great review mate. Thanks for making and posting it.I'm eagerly looking forward to your next vid/s with the on air test etc, as I was going to buy one of these radios until I heard about the new version (premium). So i'll hang on for a bit. Thanks again for taking the time to make and upload your vids. Keep up the great work.Look forward to catching you again on the air sometime. All the best and 73's to you mate.Cheers.Ray. 34CT4149 in Tenerife
Looking forward to some "ON AIR" tests Dave
Spot on bud. Looking forward to hearing your opinion of it in use.
What do you think about this for a beginner in CB SSB.
Am not a cb'er but Some RUclipsr said that it picks up QRM alot for a home setup. Maybe better for use in the open.
Thanks
like to think the almost useless noise blanker (certainly for plt !) in the original version is improved and I wonder if the green display is brighter now ?
no is not, that is another fault in this radio
Is the ASC any better on the premium version to receive weaker signals?
How is the frequency stability? Does it drift alot?
Is this about the best £250 ish radio still on the market today?
how much is the latest version?
Just a little over £200.
These don't hold a candle to vintage President Grant Export PC999AB (even the PC999AE non ASC versions) which are the way to go.
Better RX, better TX, no comparison. And old President can be serviced at home, not like the new rigs : if they fail you can buy a new one.
WORST CONSTRUCTION EVER,FAULTY DISPLAY,LOOSE KNOBS ,WHAT MORE DO YOU WANT?I JUST FORGET, BAD AUDIO,I HAVE TO ADD EXTERNAL SPEAKER .
