    Nicely Done!!!
    I love that you make things relatively simple to understand, but at the same time the complex problem solving shines through.

    I watch all your videos, but got to re-watch this one with new purpose :) I need a solution for this beast. I thought bigger would be better until I started trying to fit it into the shop. Thanks for your video and the link to +Steve Carmichael video. Both great options. Just need to decide which. Trying to avoid shortening the Y Axis. Homemade CNC 20"x40".
    btw... your SEO is working great. Got multiple links to your website (rather than RUclips directly) when searching for X-Carve solutions, upgrades and mods. I was getting a bit depressed seeing all of the X-Carve negatives lately. Re-watching some positive videos and discovering some new ones is making me feel a lot better and motivating me to complete this weekend. Working X-Carve will be my Christmas Present to myself

  • @CorneliusSneedley

    Instead of saw blades and so on, I would store any tools that only relate to the CNC machine on the wall behind it. You only need those when the machine is in operating position, but you might need saw blades and the like even when you have no plan to use the machine for a particular project.

    Nice setup on this fold sown table. I have an older shapeoko 1000x1000mm machine. It at my bigger shop far from my house. I have been considering moving it to my house and putting it in my garage as I would use it more. But the size is the issue... currently, it sits on a 48"x48" roll around shop table. Just too big for my small garage. I think this solution would work well for me!

    The audience of gamers is quite large, you can make chairs, tables for PC, bookcases; I would be very interested in PC tables.

  • @meaznet
    @meaznet 4 года назад

    This may be a dumb question, I don't have one but am very interested in getting one. However, like you I don't have the room in my shop. But i was wondering, if axis are controlled by belts on motors and the wood is secured to the waste board, shouldn't this be able to operate in the raised position? That would make a world of difference in the possibility of fitting one in my shop. I'm unclear if that is what your demonstrating here, I thought it was just storage when not in use.

    • @Iliketomakestuff
      @Iliketomakestuff  9 лет назад

      No, I just slide it to the wall side before lifting it. If I forget it doesn't slam hard because of the belts so I have plenty of time to set it back down and place it correctly.

    After everyone got shapeokos last year I spent some of my tax return on a kit. It's still sitting in the box 4 months later because I've been too darn busy.

  • @deejayqueue
    @deejayqueue 9 лет назад

    Did you consider mounting the X-Carve to the wall (with offsets) instead of the table, so that in case you need to move the table for some reason you can?
    Also, I noticed in your video as you're making your counter-sunk holes in the wasteboard that it has quite a bit of flex towards the middle. Did you have problems with the depth of your cuts before this project and if so, did mounting those strips under the wasteboard help with that? I'm asking because my X-Carve seems to have a similar issue with a non-flat wasteboard adn I was thinking of killing 2 birds with one stone.

    • @Iliketomakestuff
      @Iliketomakestuff  9 лет назад

      Mike Bryan My problem with the wall mount would be where my studs are and making a structure strong enough to hold the weight of the entire machine (not sure how to really explain that).
      I personally haven't noticed the flex when cutting, but reinforcing it from below would definitely help it not be an issue.

  • @FredMcIntyre
    @FredMcIntyre 8 лет назад

    Bob, have you had any issues with accuracy over time storing it like this? do find that it requires a lot of recalibration? Just wondering because Tyler G (DIYTyler) recently had an issue and I was curious as to whether or not it might have to do with the way it was stored.
