- In this video I will be doing a small business Q&A and answering all of your submitted questions! Some of the things I cover are small business tips (and lots of them!), how I got started, my favorite small business tools I use daily, how to find product manufacturers and so much more.

This e-book has been a long time coming and it’s one I’ve been working on for the past 2-3 years.
I finished it a few weeks ago and was planning to make it available in May, and after receiving a lot of questions I thought hey let’s announce it with this video since it ties together perfectly! In the e-book I’ll be sharing all the tips and tricks I learned from the past 11 years of running my own small business, and providing you with some guidance and giving you all the tips on subjects including:
-how to start your business (business license, taxes, picking a name, brand colors)
-selling on Etsy (how to set up your product listings, how to research keywords to help your product rank higher in search, how to set up product photos)
-selling on your own website (I personally use Shopify and reference that in the e-book)
-selling at other venues (craft shows and other online locations)
-product photography and brand photography (plus photoshoot day tips, photo suggestions, explaining different photo types you need for your products)
-social media tips (my social media strategy, how to increase engagement, how often I post, suggestions on what to post to help grow your account)
-my favorite manufacturers (where I get custom notebooks, notepads, bookmarks, shirts, mugs, blankets, planners and more made)
-how to find product manufacturers (my best tips and suggestions and exact wording to use)
-shipping tips and where to source shipping materials (my favorite places to buy shipping materials from, why I recommend calculated shipping, what shipping label printer to use, how to set up a shipping station and what you need in it, and lots of tips to make shipping a breeze)

Thank you, this was such a fun and informative video! I would love to see more how-to videos! Like how you make a bookmark on procreate, making clip art, any how to/advice on trying to start art licensing, and what you talked about at the end about setting things up with bleed margins in procreate, and how to bring motifs into photoshop to make a repeating pattern. I was just doing the procreate way but I’d love to do it correctly in case I do license something one day. I don’t know photoshop at all but I guess I should learn now! I had thought it was illustrator that artists finished up their artwork in before submitting because of the vector aspect of it. It’s so confusing!
I’m so glad you found this helpful! I can absolutely make some tutorial videos around those subjects. Many artists who do vector work use illustrator, but if you’re an artist (like me!) who likes to do a textured/painterly style, many use procreate and then finish up their work in photoshop. I wrote down a note for me to do a tutorial soon ☺️

Anyway, this most recent one was very interesting so I decided to order your book. I absolutely love how colorful it is and appreciate all the work that went into making it. I am just starting out as a small business but I make purses, backpacks, wallets, etc. and enjoy what I do. I was thinking of starting an Etsy but I’ve heard so many bad things, it’s really interesting that you’re saying it’s still the best place to start 😊
I haven’t had a perfect experience on there I will say that, which is what led me to starting my own website because I’m not always happy on there. But if you’re brand new with no traffic I definitely still recommend Etsy as a starting point and as your customer base grows, then venturing onto your own website 🥰

Hello Emily! I just want to say I love your videos and style, it’s so cute. I was wondering though how do you get your prints to come out so vibrant , I have the same printer as you do but whenever I print my stickers they come out so dull and boring I’ve tried looking for help online to no avail 😢 it would be awesome if you pointed me in the right direction 🎉 thanks! Why thank you! ☺️ so getting the colors correct is really dependent on 1) the right paper and 2) the right print settings. I like coated matte paper or luster paper and make sure to select that paper type in the printing preferences before printing 🥰

What programs/software you use for your Creations/Business. 3 Step by step how to create (something) using 1 and 2 above.
I truly can not draw - Artist wise - to save my life, but I love creating crafts and have started making my own notebooks with covers for handbags, but I use other people's designed pages and I would dearly love to design my own. I do love Zentangling and have been thinking of using this technique in someway. Any advice would be greatly appreciated :). Please keep sharing your story, love watching it and watching you grow :).

Any tutorial on how to create artwork on Procreate would be great (beginner level please)! I'm not much of an artist but it sure looks like fun to create on Procreate. I had issues having my one package delivered to my in-laws house in Arizona, through no fault of your own (it was 100% the USPS) & you were amazing at getting it out to me once everything was figured out. I know it took extra time for you to attempt to mail it (several times!) and I thought your customer service was amazing.

I would love to see some of what you tweak in Photoshop after you've created art in Procreate. I always hear artists saying they finish up in Photoshop so it would be nice to see if you just clean up lines, brighten colors, etc., or whatever else. Thank you! Procreate tutorials would be nice as well.
So in photoshop it’s mostly just saving the files for printing, putting on the magnetic bookmark template, setting up with bleeds for printing, setting up repeat patterns and stuff like that ☺️

I’m sorry if this was already asked in the comments, but as an artist, what do you do to protect your artwork from being stolen?
You can formally copyright it but technically you have copyright over it the moment you design it. I like to post my artwork online with a watermark of my logo on it
