- Hello friends! Welcome to day 1 of vlogmas! This December I’m going to be doing a 12 days of vlogmas and will be posting videos all throughout December to countdown to Christmas and celebrate the holiday season with all of you! In today’s video I’m answering all of your questions! Ranging from small business questions to learning more about me and my life, and my cat Toby even joins us to answer some questions as well! Re your decision about getting a warehouse space or expand. Instead of wasting money on rent, think about buying a house. You can use it for your business, and the house payments will build equity. Better to invest your money.

Yes, I got to the same conclusion when we were told we have to move bc our area is undergoing redevelopment. We lived here for over 30 yrs. So I'm looking into home loans and laws and stuff before we get a date to move. In current economy getting a new house and paying loan EMIs is better than rent.

Yes! A coffee table book. That would be so epic. I would definitely buy it, probably several to give as gifts. Putting oneself out there on social media is not easy so thank you for allowing us a peek into your life. Especially how you developed your business. It’s good to share struggles with others because it shows us we are not alone and to keep it going even when it’s super hard because unless we try we will never know how far we can go. My mom is also my best friend and I wouldn’t change it for the world. Hard times make strong ppl and you are definitely a strong entrepreneur, very inspirational for all those who are looking to build their own business one day. I could for sure see you as a vet. That actually came to mind before you answered the question. Toby, could be your mascot. ❤. Have you read legends and lattes or bookshop and bonedust? Both fantasy with a little bit of romance. Loved this vlogmass! Yu had a good idea about your own book…. How about creating pop up children’s book and make book library come to life. Also a good books goes well with a book marker but also adding a coaster to hold a nice hot cup of coffee brings it all together. Oh and also a night light for the kiddies room that project stars on the walls and ceiling… girl there is so much more potential products I can see that you can make. Lol I am so excited just thinking about all the amazing things you can do. Love your personality, your beautiful soul, and gracious smile. All the best to you❤

I just wanted to say that a lot of the things that you discuss in this video vis-à-vis comparison to other people, refusing to quit, trying to find your niche, are all things that I too, have struggled with and still do from time to time with comparison being the absolute worst, lol. From a personal perspective, I'm so glad that you spoke openly about these things as it's good to know that I'm not alone. Your videos had me thinking that you had it all together and I've been jealous for a while, 😂😂😂 but it's good to know that you're real and vulnerable and I love that you chose to share that aspect of yourself with us. xoxo
You’re definitely not alone! I feel like a lot of, if not most, small business owners and artists struggle with it in some way or another. I definitely have alot of struggles behind the scenes with all that, that I don’t always openly share but sometimes it’s good to talk about it so others know that they have others going through it too with them 🩷

I love this! Congratulations,! As for being a couch for starter business. I say you should create a 3 way voting toll and see which one is the lead winner. Then start up a sing up waiting list cause girl you are about to blow it out the park. As for that coffee table book, i say go for it. You have the atte tion of many followers enough to get it out there worldwide. It doesn't have to be 200 pages. You can start with a 10 page one then continue as a story series about you growing up, life experiences, situations ect. It will keep people guessing whats next for Emily. ❤

You may be too young for this, but back in the 90's there was this whole line of merchandise for back to school by an artist called Lisa Frank (merch being sold online now) and all the kids immediately knew upon seeing the artwork in the bookstore or pharmacy that whatever binder or pocket folder or duotang belonged to her collection. It was all bright and colorful just like your artwork. You remind me a lot of her.

I would buy whatever you sell . Lol I'm 65 and I have been boxing since I was 16. I'm still going strong at it. But, It gave me confidence to open a few businesses, and raise a family at the same time. 💗

I don't know why artbooks aren't more popular in the West but artbooks are very common in Japan and Korea! I own about 7 at this point because it's such a great way to get a large amount of artwork from a favorite artist without having to buy a lot of product. I think it's a wonderful idea!

Hi Emily, Thank you for answering all of those questions and sharing your life with us. Just wanted to say that if you do decide on making that book with all your designs and the blurbs about them that I would buy it. It would be nice if it was a hard cover with a flashy cover design to go on a coffee table. Just like the ones they make for famous artists like Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo..etc. I am always attracted to those in the bookstore, but I don't buy them because they are so old. With your book, it would be modern and bring joy to all who see it with all your bright colours :)

I also have a big fluffy cat who isn’t a fan of being brushed but this year I got a grooming rake and he tolerates it much more.

My cat's name was Misty too. I had her for 20 years. Labor Day to Labor Day-I got her on that holiday and she died in my arms on that day. So I buried her under a bush in a boot box. She was curled up and it was the biggest box I had. Still cry for her on occasion.. I never had kids and did not think they would work out. I want to be full time and could not afford to split my time and energy on both. You go girl. While you still have youth on your side. Attitude is everything.
It’s so hard when we lose our fur babies who have been with us for so long. 😞🩷

Armentrout because this book series and the prequels are so great and I and my sister and friends couldn’t put them down as soon as we started reading them!

I am also a behind the curtain illustrator and have sooooo much trouble in figuring out how to use procreate correctly to make my art come to life. Right now all I do is sketch book and color pencils and would love to move my art to procreate where I can bring it to life. If you could also make a video on how you use procreate from start to finish to design something for beginners I would appreciate it

Do you plan to make and sell anything that is not a book related theme? I would love something on artists, etc.
My first art print I sold was a watercolor painting I did in high school of Falmouth, MA!
I have boxes and boxes of canvas paintings I’ve done over the years in storage that isn’t available in my shop ☺️
I dabbled in positivity designs but they rarely sold so I’ve stuck with my book niche ☺️
Thank you for your video and help. I have EDS type 3 I’ve lost so many jobs, people just don’t understand the illness. So I’m going to try my start my own sticker stationary business. I’ve been an artist since I was 4. Thank you for giving me some hope
We have the same EDS type! 🩷 I can relate to that so much. I’ve had to quit so many jobs because of the limitations from EDS..for a long time I never understood why I couldn’t just be like everyone else and after learning what was wrong it all finally made sense. Emily, I love your videos!! I listen to them while I'm packing orders. Question - what paper do you use for your magnetic bookmarks? They are so cute! I'm using cardstock now for my tags (for party favors) but I know different papers make a huge difference in the printing and I'd like to know what brand/style you use.
I also wanted to make a comment about your video from maybe the last week or two (?) where you were upset because someone sent you a message about your teeth and dental care. First, as an overweight person, I have battled with how I look my entire life. But at the wise old age of 53, I've learned a couple of things and I feel compelled to share them with you. Number 1 - you asked why someone would send you a message like that - it's because of jealousy, plain and simple. I would bet money they are a suppressed artist that sees you (with your imperfections) putting yourself out there and doing what you love and being VERY successful at it. That bothers people. Especially people that want to do what you do, but are too afraid for whatever reason. Believe me, I know. Number 2 - their comment says everything about them and absolutely nothing about you. Don't let the haters get you down. If you want to answer their comments, give them a nice "Well, thank you so much - I had not thought of that!! :)" reply, shake your head at the audacity of some people and move on. You just keep living your wonderfully imperfect life and we will be here to watch and cheer you on. Brava to you, lady! You are an inspiration and don't you forget it! :)

@@emilycromwelldesignsAlso with the pregnancy and kids thing…I never wanted kids because I was terrified of passing my EDS down to another person because it is genetic. I got pregnant on accident and decided to keep her and my whole pregnancy was terrible. I almost died during pregnancy and during birth. It was awful. So I definitely don’t blame you for choosing not to get pregnant. It’s definitely not for the weak when you have EDS. But she makes everything worth it ❤
