Two things about the D.Va video:
- He does know her, he knows exactly how reckless she can get, so when he said that she can't do it alone, he meant it.
- They mentioned that in the previous fight, she almost died. This time however... did you see the hospital shots? The one with the defibrillator? Yeah, this time she actually DID die.
Also, there was another meme for the "is Overwatch back?" line:
- "Yes."
-"You're under arrest."
God if Overwatch 2 actually had a story mode I would've loved to play as the characters. I'm not really into PvP so the actual main gameplay doesn't interest me, but if they actually stuck to their promise of the game having a story mode I would've gotten it.
I just hate that people try to undermine the main game because of the pve. Not saying your wrong your absolutely right, but people say that the game is totally useless now because pve was canceled.
@@unnamed6864 I can sorta understand their complaints though. While they aren't correct in the game being useless, I would be petty as hell cause they stopped updating the first game for like a year because of Overwatch 2. With the promise being a ton of improvements plus a story mode. So when the game actually releases as it doesn't have a story mode, and all they did was really just make it so one less player is on the team, I would also be immensely upset for sticking to the game and would also just hate the second game cause of what happened.
@@unnamed6864i mean if we’re being honest, there’s just not enough improvement from the first game to really justify it existing. Balancing is still just as bad if not worse and the one completely unique feature that was promised was axed.

as an alabamian, i can attest that the south is filled with a LOT of assholes, so it's not really a false concept of the south.
Funny thing about the "Faker coming out and killing aliens" thing. Most military tech now interfaces with gaming controllers, because that's what is comfortable in the hands of the growing population.
Sorta like how the military around the end of WW2 tried to make a baseball shaped grenade because they figured kids joining the military would have already had lots of experience throwing an object of the same weight and shape.

I knew that a lot of …PS3s? were bought for their computing power because Sony sold them at a loss, and some things (like the Titanic sub disaster) using regular controllers, but didn’t know it was that common

D.Va was selected as pilot because the defense matrix works semi manually, meaning that you need insane hand skills to use it properly. And D.Va was a Starcraft world champion, meaning that her actions per minute was amazing.
Unfortunately they retconned the detail about her being a starcraft champion a couple years ago, she's just a really skilled gamer instead.
Doesn't really change much, but for some reason they decided to alter her backstory a bit
It's a shame because her being a Starcraft pro would help explain why she's squad leader. Having tactics and not just, "shoot good, aim fast."
More i think bout, Dva and Illari were pretty messed up at a young age. Dva was a war pilot at the age of 17 and Illari killed everyone she knew at the age of 16 I think? Maybe 18 idk

Dr. Liao IS Echo... not in a direct sense. Dr. Liao was essentially Overwatch's lead roboticist but who was working on a new line of Omnic, one that could learn skills and internalize them. Before she was able to fully get the project rolling, she was killed in a terrorist attack by Talon on the lab she was working in. Echo, the experimental Omnic frame was basically her second pride and joy to her after making Aurora. Echo's namesake comes from the fact that she is an "echo" of Dr. Liao, from her voice all the way down to her mannerisms. Echo is able to adapt to any situation by acquiring the skills she needs through wrote memory observation. Unlike Aurora, Echo was treated more fairly because Omnics had already shown intelligence, so she wasn't really a test subject for the first examination of their consciousness, rather, after observing McCree/Cassidy working with Liao and the real side of McCree who wasn't using the cowboy persona, Echo became much more humanlike and started taking up Liao's mannerisms. Liao made a shift in perspective towards the Echo project, particularly just OUR Echo, where Echo was treated more like a child to her, where Liao had imparted as much information about life and its complexities rather than strictly duty like Aurora. Echo was originally suppoed to be the apology to the Omnics because of the loss of Aurora, but Echo became so much more... an Echo of Aurora's success and a living Echo for Dr. Liao.
I like this little skit where they bring up how apparently Hanzo, Genji, and Kiriko claim they grew up together and were trained by Kiriko’s mother, yet Genji and Hanzo are 20 years older than Kiriko.
I think there is a 11 to 13 year Differenz between Kiriko and Genji and an 16 to 18 year differents between Kiriko and Hanzo. I explanes it in a headcanon where all the Kiriko stuff Happens arround 5/6 years before the Rest of the story Because we know the Shorts are not in Order because of the Junker Queen one.
@@luckaskalt918116 years for Genji, and 19 years for Hanzo, according to their official ages. Regardless of when something like Junker Queen's short takes place, in the present day, she's 31.
Same for Kiriko; no matter when her stories take place, in the present day, Kiriko is still 21, Genji is still 37, and Hanzo is still 40. The math simply doesn't add up.
@@garrelus i apparently didn't think this thru. To make it all fit together i make Kiriko 5 years older and let the short fit erlyer in the Timeline, as well as making both Genji and Hanzo 5 years Younger. I know its Just me Fixing a fucked Timeline but it works in my head

@@garrelus Honestly, by making kiriko 5 years older they could really make up some of it to make it fit. Like, she's 26, which still fits her "generational personality" as they try to sell it as. And that'd mean she's maybe 10 years apart from Genji, she could be like 3 since she's in the foreground and could appear taller than she is and Genji would d be 13 during the vid (which mean he could still be smol) and Hanzo 16 which could fit too. That way they still grow up together. (I say that as I have a 12 years difference with my big brother and still feel like we grew up together). They could still remember that "bowl cut" from their childhood as like primary school kiriko and teenage genji and it'd work out. Or that's how I see it... (sorry for the blabla XD)
The Chat is talking about the Overwatch characters origin story. Basically it’s a animated video showing the characters past and what they went through. Trust me you’re going to like them. They give more context to the war and why some characters are evil.

Idk if anyone else feels weird about it, but as a Southern person, hearing someone say someone will call them a slur just due to their accent actually kinda stung. Like most people I've met, I have been incredibly kind, and the idea of Southern hospitality is super real. In fact, some of the most mean people I met were in Indiana because they heard my accent and started to treat me differently.
To be fair to Kiriko's mom, she is canonically the strongest sword user in the world, and trained several legendary swordsmen including Genji. She is canonically stronger than the guy who can reflect multiple shells the size of small cars in rapid succession. If anyone is allowed to question whether Kiriko is actually strong IT IS HER.
I think we're conflating "strength" and "skill" here, which is a very important distinction. Hanzo and Genji are definitely way stronger than Asa, but she is almost certainly more skilled in swordsmanship.

I think In the context of swordfighting, I've never heard of someone being referred to as a "strong" sword fighter; only skilled, because strength isn't really the deciding factor in a swordfight, where a single well-placed blow could be a death sentence, regardless of how powerful someone is.
And I understand the definition of strength you're using can refer to skill, but I don't think that works when referring to something where physical strength is relevant, like swordfighting (even though I just said it wasn't important, but you know what I mean). If somebody was referred to as a strong rock climber, the first thought to come to my mind wouldn't be that they're a skilled rock climber, I would be thinking they were physically strong. I think the same logic applies here.

Video games have virtually zero reliance on physical strength. We still talk about strong players. You are simply incorrect.

I've already mentioned that using "strong" to refer to someone's skill is not so easy to understand when physical strength is part of the picture. That's not the case for esports players, so your example is completely irrelevant. My argument still stands.
Fun fact, Australia is a nuclear wasteland after the war, as if it wasn't fucked up enough already. During the Junker King's reign, he would kick "undesirables" out of town and into the horrid wasteland, with nothing but a bottle of water. I don't believe the amount of people kicked out changed the amount of water, either. Just a single bottle. Junker Queen's family--including her--was one of them.
After claiming the title of queen, she treated the previous king the same way she and her family was treated. A bottle of water, barely enough for a day, and the clothes on his back, to fend for himself in the nuclear wasteland of Post War Australia.

Kiriko’s will always be my favorite, simply for that “Kazenaka is under MY protection” line. And it’s kinda coincidental since I recently just got back into playing Overwatch and I’m starting to get actually good with her.
They said that DVA emerged from the battle "without a scratch" because the city loves and depends on her. So they say things that make people go "Yeah she's amazing she's defeating the enemy and emerging no issue she's our precious protector!" stuff like that, so it doesn't decrease the morale of the city and will make people less worried about the future
I really wish Kiriko was older. It continues to make no sense that, at 21, she 'grew up training' with Genji and Hanzo, who are about 20 years older than her.
Yeah, they just have her young to pander. It makes no sense, and she shatters canon in so many ways.
It's genuinely absurd, just to make kiriko the fanservice character. It's practically a self insert.

Every single OW character pretty much has some sort of mental trauma or baggage. :( outside of maybe 1 or 2. But most really be going through it.
Could I recommend watching the character origin/back stories. They are much shorter, but gives you an idea on more heroes. Also the Sigma one is really good!

Some facts about the whole Mad Maggie/Junker Queen debacle:
- Junker Queen was introduced back in 2017 (Overwatch 1) with the introduction of the Junkertown map - her voice could be heard in the PA system and in the trailer introducing the map. Also, you could see some posters with her appearance around the map - her appearance in these differs somewhat from her final design.
- Mad Maggie was first seen with the introduction of Fuse in Season 8 (February 2021). She is seen in the "Good As Gold" Stories From the Outlands animated lore video - this shows plenty of Maggie's appearance/personality that she'd still have by the time she launched as a playable character. Her voice also features in the Season 8 Launch Trailer, was the announcer voice in some limited time events in S8 and was the main antagonist surrounding Fuse and that season.
- Junker Queen first became playable in June 2022, after the release of Overwatch 2. Mad Maggie became playable in Season 12 (February 2022).
- THEY DON"T SHARE VA! (typical chat when spreading false information 🤭). Junker Queen's first VA was Siho Ellsmore (in the Junker Town map and trailer). She was then replaced by the current VA, Australian-Sri Lankan actress, Leah de Niese. Mad Maggie's VA is New Zealander actress, Nicola Kāwana.
- Junker Queen's design, being from Australia in the Overwatch lore/timeline, is... well, inspired by Australia in accent/cultural references. On the other hand, Mad Maggie is inspired by New Zealander Maori culture - she even has several voice lines (Nicola is Maori) and some skins featuring Maori culture (Maggie comes from a planet in the Outlands called "Salvo" - which until now culturally speaking seems inspired by the two biggest island nations of Oceania, New Zealand and Australia)
- Gameplay-wise, they both favour shotguns. Junker Queen uses a shotgun as her Primary Fire. Maggie's Passive ability is being able to run faster whilst carrying a shotgun. Other than that, they are different (although it's been rumoured that Maggie's as-of-yet unreleased heirloom ""could be"" a double bladed axe, which if that ends up being true... well, add one more thing to the similarities list I guess. Still waiting for that heirloom to be confirmed... or released ... or something someday, maybe... 🥲🙏)
- Both are leaders of their respective factions in a lawless, apocalyptic Mad Max-esque worlds (Junker Queen being the Queen of Junkertown in the ruins of the Australian Outbacks, Maggie a warlord leader of the mercenary group "Cracked Talon" in Salvo).
- And finally a funny, coincidental fact I just found out today: For both Leah de Niese and Nicola Kāwana, Overwatch and Apex have respectively been their first voice acting roles in a videogame.

As an Australian. Its wild how they were saying they were the same when you can notice the differences. But that being said, you'll probably notice them the most if you're actively listening for them with the Māori accent with Mad Maggie.
Furthermore, I still firmly think they should just make her Heirloom Fuse's arm

I've also found that a lot of Brits get confused for Aussies and viceversa, which again it's like... how can people not tell the difference? idk lol
As for the heirloom, the leak did talk about a supposed inspect animation featuring Fuse's arm which is very funny if true. But imo she needs something more deserving of a warlord than just an arm - Fuse got a whole flaming axe-guitar thing ffs, she deserves something as cool, if not cooler than that! 😅
Mauga is fun because he Is brilliant. He's also a hopeless Adrenaline Junkie with two hearts trying to keep him calm and he just wants to feel his blood boiling. So he both causes, and solves problems, just cause he can, and he's smart enough to not piss off the wrong people in the process.

Fun little tidbit: Kiriko's mother trained Genji and Hanzo as kids. Kiriko trained with them sometimes. They're all childhood friends.

Because that was their reality. They fought and saw friends fall. They joined to protect people, knowing it could be the last thing they did. And Winston held Overwatch dearer to him than most. He'd lost his father and Overwatch became his new family. He ended up being the one who gave Tracer her powers.... and her life back after an experimental fighter unstuck her in time. He's seen too many lost and suffering to not hold the line. Add on that Mei is effectively a rookie since she was hired as a civilian scientist... he knows it has to be him. He's also get the best chance of buying the most time by being hardest to bring down.
Fortunately, he didn't have to... but he might as well have. The story practically died on the vine, and this was one of its last gasps of larger narrative instead of yet more characters to sell macrotransactions.
queen is really melee focused, her primary is a shotgun so it has fall off damage making he most effective at close range which fits with her whole theme of doing wound damage with her close range weapons like the axe and her knife. Her mitigation skill is shout, it basically gives her and all her teammates near her a temp boost to speed and temporary health. Her ult is called rampage, she charges in a straight line while swinging her axe, anybody hit by it will be wounded, take wound damage, and become antid (effect that stops the effected from being healed)
You NEED to react to all the origin stories, they're so good, and a few are _really_ good!
With Illari's trailer, a lot of people misinterpreted what was going on in it to where ppl thought "I'm the last child of the Sun" meant she killed everyone where she lived. She just killed all the "children of the sun" that were at her ceremony. People that weren't children of the sun weren't there she didn't wipe out an entire civilization but I've seen soooo many people think she killed everyone. Like, I saw some people surprised that her new map looks like a currently livable place and not destroyed and I'm just like "because there are people there? She only accidentally destroyed the ceremony room?" I dunno ppl jump to conclusions a lot
I always get sad when I watch the zero hour short I remember being so hyped for the PVE, there is such a cool story to tell with these characters. But they abandoned the game for almost 3 years for nothing just to drop a worse version of the game. I still have fun in OW2 but it hurts knowing what could have been

There are 3 things that people care about Overwatch for, the official animations that are better than the game, the non-official animations that are better than the game, and... well... the 🌽... that are better than the game
overwatch is honestly one of the saddest stories of perhaps one of the best designed games fueled with love and passion from everyone in the team, being restricted by so many factors.
if overwatch just...had the resources it needed it couldve easily eclypsed games like valorant or apex, but due to corporate greed and terrible business decisions, a TON of overwatch devs left, many were fired, and the game has been attempting to drag itself out of the mud.
its gotten out of the "overwatch is doomed" phase it was in since after kotik left there were immediate improvements made like the removal of battle pass heros, but its still got a TON of issues it has to iron out.
Yeah, tbh I think they are past the point of goodwill or recovery.
5v5 was a huge mistake, as was ow2 as a whole. And they routinely prove themselves to be incompetent with balance decisions.
They should have just made an overwatch show or series of short films in like 2016-now, rather than making a nonexistant and unrelated story mode...
It will continue to limp along, but its heights have passed. Success is lost, survival is all that remains.
fun fact about 2 of the overwatch va’s is that both hanzo and mccree both played a big character in the Cyberpunk edge runners anime. Mccree played the driver for David and the gang (I don’t remember his name) and Hanzo’s va played the dad of the guy that David beats up in the first episode with the Sandevistan. (Also don’t remember his name)
I want these guys to see the stuff about Baptiste, Sigma, Echo, Venture, Lifeweaver, Ramattra, etc.

You know whats wild? Anubis gave the omnics sentience and then controlled them to start a war with the humans. Ramattra is an omnic war bot that's leading the current null sector aka the omnics currently starting wars. And he tells one character that anubis should have been destroyed before it started the first war

I will admit. Once the previous leaders at blizzard were fired and then mircrosoft took over, the company has improved and the game is fun. But the sting of story mode being axed will remain

As a fellow Northerner who grew up in a more rural area, Southern accents are a plus IMO by stereotypes are what they are. Whenever I got to the city and hear girls with the "valley girl" accent, that's a turn off.
Ant strikes me as the type to hate the fact that he lives in a small town. A "podunk" by his own words, so it makes sense that someone like him wouldn't have a high opinion of southern accents.
He's still wrong, but I figured I'd throw in my two cents
Yeah the valley girl accent coupled with the inability to go more than 1 or 2 complete sentences without using the words "like" or "literally" as filler makes me want to induce blunt force trauma to my head. Repeatedly.
@@christiangonzales4998 I think it's just easy low hanging fruit to make fun of the accent because of the whole civil war slavery thing because it's a stereotype that the South can't escape. I've known of a few racist southerners for sure, but the majority are really solid and cool people. Who are more tightly knit community wise than most of us up North.

It sucked that they cancelled the story mode, and you 2 talked about what are they even doing with overwatch at the moment, thr are constantly giving us new characters, new maps, updating maps and reworking characters, adjusting characters and giving ranked updates, and I truly believe as someone who played overwatch since the 1st one came out, that thr PvP is the best it's ever been

Reason why Overwatch fell:
Overwatch was built on a joint effort of the UN to take super soldiers from each nation into a single mobile strike team. The first two people were Soldier 76 and Soldier 24. Soldier 76 became the leader of Overwatch which Soldier 24 was happily okay with. When the Omnic Crisis ended, Overwatch became its own independent group and grew dramatically that a new faction of Overwatch was created called Blackwatch. Overwatch would be the public face of the group that would follow UN order to be deployed wherever is needed, while Blackwatch would be the black ops that nobody knows about and would illegally carry out plans that will benefit Overwatch.
Blackwatch consisted of multiple soldiers, but the most notable are Soldier 24, Genji, McCree/Cassidy, Moira, and a man named Lacroix as their manager and connection to Overwatch. Blackwatch remained a secret, but there were still rumors across the world that Overwatch was using shady tactics to infiltrate countries. One day, Soldier 24 wanted to talk to Soldier 76 about getting the immediate greenlight on a mission to assassinate Talon members who were investigating Overwatch, while Soldier 76 denied the mission due to lack of information and rash timing. But insult to injury was shortly after the meeting took place, a bomb went off in the Overwatch building.
Eventually, Blackwatch gets permission to carry out the mission, and they find the man responsible for the bombing, an Italian mafia boss named Antonio Bartalotti, who just so happens to also be one of the heads of Talon. Bartalotti taunts Soldier 24, knowing that they would have to arrest him, but Overwatch would have too little evidence to work off of while maintaining Blackwatch's anonymity while Bartalotti has too many connections and power to be tried guilty in court. Soldier 24 understood this and snapped, killing Bartalotti on the spot. This lead to an all-out gunfight in the middle of the night of Venice and Blackwatch being uncovered.
Due to Blackwatch being revealed, Overwatchs reputation to the the world governments and the people sank. An investigation was launched onto Overwatch and found that they were responsible for multiple assassinations, kidnapping, torture, and blackmail. They also found out Moira was running illegal and high unethical experiments, leading her to be immediately removed from Overwatch while the rest of Blackwatch was placed on suspension. This eventually lead to Genji leaving Blackwatch to join Overwatch. Things get worse when Lacroix gets assassinated and then a coup. Blackwatch ended up fighting Overwatch and that lead to Overwatch headquarters being destroyed and killing hundreds, including Soldier 76 and 24. However it turned out both of them lived without the other knowing. Eventually this fight was the final straw and the Petras Act was signed, disbanding Overwatch.
Soldier 24 eventually reconnected with Moira who was actually working for Talon now. Soldier 24 joins Talon, Moira gives him the power to phase through walls, and adopts the new name Reaper.
