- You heard it here not first: there is an official video game adaptation of the official movie adaptation of the official C.S. Lewis book, The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch And The Wardrobe. If you've always dreamt of playing through your favourite Chronicle of Narnia on the PS2, keep dreaming; this is far from that. In fact, going off the faces alone, it's much closer to a nightmare.

My god I love these animations. Flinging Lucy at giant ice chunks to break them, Susan picking up Edmund and hitting things with him. Susan's bizarre ballet fighting style. It's just gloriously jank.

To be fair, this game is not all that bad. I would have enjoyed this as a kid, especially with the drop-in co-op function. 68% is probably about on par.

Well yeah, its just a lego TCoN game without lego graphics and lego games are always pretty good.
I really liked this game as a kid, that said, there were parts I found annoying.
This is a highly educational game: in case of a World War, punch the furniture to save the world.

So fun fact, Georgie Henley, who played Lucy, was my first celebrity crush as a child.
(She's older than me, before anyone says anything. And I mostly liked her around the sequels, anyway, when I was old enough to know why I found girls attractive.)
I think the biggest issue is that they were all turning the lights on during a blitz. It's like they wanted to make absolutely sure their house was definitely getting bombed.
“The review that ends with the line “it’s not completely sucky” has a rating of...... 84%” I think Peter and and Ben have reached a high point with their best rated game, it’s all going down hill from here 😂😂
This is the first game I ever played, the only reason i saw the film is because i got stuck on a level with the giant and wanted to see how the characters canonically got through it. Alas it did not hold the answers i sort
I don't know if it's just me but it feels these past few quarantine episodes have been particularly good! I think, personally, you guys feel relaxed and seem to be having a lot of fun doing the videos, it might be that this is also in a way your respite from the current situation, but the mood feels relaxed and playful. I really like them.

Damn, that transition from live action to cutscenes. I remember Revenge of the Sith for the PS2 did it a lot better. Mostly because any live action shot didn't end with an extreme close-up to emphasize how different they looked.
Between this and Pirates last time, you guys are ragging on my favourite childhood games here!

One of your funniest episodes. Susan smashing down a rock spire with Edmund’s head, just like in the books, was an amazing moment.
This game got a higher score on Metacritic than Alpha Protocol. Let that sink in for a bit.

I grew watching the 1988 BBC TV serial version of The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe (One tape; I wasn't even born when it came out). I recommend you go out and see it, so you too can have the nightmares.
The Pevensies look like their faces consists of 97% tumourous mass. Knowing what we now know about tumours and their effect on the various lobes of the brain, this explains a whole lot about the nature of Narnia.
...Where the heavy-handed Christian iconography came from, though, is anyone's guess.
You know what's kinda ironic about that? It was Satan who was compared to a lion. In the Bible, I mean.

Say what you want about the Luftwaffe, at least they had the decency to give ppl an artificial timescale to get out of the house before the bombs drop... wait, what, the timer isn't real?
Well that's no good, somebody could get seriously hurt, furniture could get damaged and random floating watches could be left unattended on the floor. War is madness, that's official.

I remember playing this on the Gamecube a long time ago. I kind of enjoyed it to a degree but remember being annoyed by a lot of things when it came to the puzzles and horde fights. Yeah this game was severely flawed. I actually do remembered being pissed at something in this game. I don't remember beating it.

2:45 - the short lived 'Hitler and Gnasher' cartoon was an odd choice for CBBC.
i mean honestly lucy looks built like an average sized child in thick clothing to me (with a weird gross neck chin, but they all have weird gross neck chins), but i can imagine why you'd think she was obese next to how girls are normally depicted lmao
It is absolutely hilarious, but I still really like this game, it has some varied and interesting stuff in it. My seven year old son wanted to get it after watching the old BBC Narnia series, and he loves the game.
*so the health-bars, menus and other elements of this game are strangely similar to those in the lotr return of the king game for the ps2?*
I mean the film was going for that vibe too so may as well follow suit in the game

I have a soft spot for this game. It has so many frustrating levels, but I still like it.
I remember when I had first gotten my ps2 when they were still the current gen consoles and having a game disk with a bunch of demos for ps2 games. This was one of them.

Surely one of the best film tie in games ever? Hope they play Prince Caspian too. Its a shame the third Narnia game was never made as the story was better suited to a game in my humble opinion.
I liked this game as a kid. I mean it’s kind of crazy seeing it for what it is now, but I think it was really fun. Fantastic Four has its movie game the same way and it also is crazy; it has dinosaurs, aliens, and a mole man. It might be a good time for you guys.

This wasn’t a terrible game. Granted the effects were a bit off, from a 2022 standpoint anyway, and dodgy character attack moves but I enjoyed it.
It plays just like those LEGO games, since it was made by the same dev.

Lol I was snooty about movie video game adaptations even when I was a kid. This was far from the worst. The gameplay isn't Dark Souls in terms of a challenge but it had interesting fighting, multiple characters to play with, and puzzles. Pretty much a Lego Game, which are enjoyed by pretty much everyone, with a Narnia skin. It was my go to game when friends came over who weren't that great at video games.
I had this game and had nearly forgotten all about playing it until now 😂 I remember completing it on the PS2
I've been replaying this game with my siblings and it is bringing back some memories that were buried way down lol. The game isn't completely devoid of good ideas (at least on paper). I thought that the idea of having the 4 children each have strengths and weaknesses while also having unique abilities was great but was executed horrendously. It also doesn't help that the friendly AI for the other kids you aren't playing as literally are dead, they are completely useless and it makes having to deal with your siblings an absolute slog. But all in all, we have been getting a large amount of enjoyment from it, mostly laughing at the absurd cutscenes and dialogue.
