  • Much of it might be a desert but Egypt has risen to become a top agricultural producer for certain crops, like the date palm. This has been entirely made possible through harnessing the waters of River Nile. CCTV's Fahmida Miller visited a thriving farm, meters away from the salty Mediterranean Sea, which still depends on the Nile.

    Egypt was the biggest date producer until 2017 which was replaced by Iran.
    Before the invasion of Iraq by the US and co it was Iraq which was the biggest date producer in the world.

      M. Karbaschi No, Egypt is still the biggest producer of dates in the world. Check the list for the top 10 date producing countries, Egypt is still the highest:)
