New subscriber here. You now have a list from a very supportive fan. Any performance of Mori is always worthy for a reaction.
There are 2 things I always look forward to listen again when I watch this video:
1. the impeccable whistle and
2. the one-breath phrases lasting for like eternity
Mori is the best singer for me, she is a world class total live performer with a colorful squeak en whistle notes that adds a flavor in a song rendition plus beautiful personality inside en out🤩🤩🤩
She’s so deserving to be on different AWARDS NIGHT✨hope best producers around the world hold her coz world really deserves to hear her voice.

I have seen so many reactions to this particular performance of queen Mori, but i think this is the first time i heard someone points out about the swallowing technique after the whistle tone. That's something new! New sub here! Tnx for reacting to Morissette.
Let's all take a moment to appreciate that not only can Morrissette hit that whistle register so smoothly, but she also has amazing agility in whistle tone and hey, as if that run that she did in that section wasn't hard enough, she casually adds some vibrato to the final whistle note and still has breath to spare - while sitting down!

The “hah” that you were speaking of is actually a part of the word “nahahagkan”, same as “nahahalikan”. The root word is “halik” which means “kiss”. The rough translation of that sentence is “Only in dreams can you be kissed, embraced (by me)”. The singer is pining, pleading, praying, forever hoping for an oblivious, beloved friend to be hers.

Nice analysis! Loved the video and of course Morissette's singing. One thing about the Tagalog language is that the glottal stop (the T sound in the word 'bottle' where the sound is coming from the back of the throat) is a sound that always occurs at the beginning of a word when it starts with a vowel (this is a standard Tagalog pronunciation rule and helps to separate syllables). So the word Mori was singing 'araw-araw' (everyday) has a glottal stop at the start of 'araw', and this is probably what gives it a squeaky sound when sung.

Wow! Coach, thanks for explaining that swallow. I never knew it had a purpose, though I did wonder why she swallowed in that part of the song. I thought it was accumulated saliva because this girl seemed to forget to breath! LOL!
Watching this reaction felt like watching the Discovery channel of vocal analysis... and I mean that in a good way lol
Great information on breaking down the anatomy and techniques... but you do know there are a LOT of Filipino singers who sing GREAT but have no idea what she's talking about... because they know no theory... they just sing their hearts out and sound incredible... like Marcelito Pomoy and other singers from the country side. But once they "learn" about these "rigid rules" of performing the "correct techniques," they'll probably start messing up. Their "freedom in singing" gets restricted. :-) Right now, they can innocently belt such notes while sitting down... upside-down... all the way around... which is a big no-no for "trained vocalists." Morissette, though, has had such formal training... and it's all 2nd nature to her now. In other concerts, you'll see her frolicking with the audience as she plays with her voice like she's out in the streets... like it's nothing. :-)

Filipino translation of AKIN KA NALANG is "PLEASE BE MINE" She's pleading to have (the love) she deserves. Just saw this after 2 yrs..lol.
That "ha" that you're referring to 5:52 - 5:54 was not an excess air, it's the actual lyrics "nahahagkan" . In translation it's like "able to kiss / to be kissed". So "Nahahagkan.. nayayakap ka" -----"to be kissed, embraced" something like that.
You can also listen to her again while reading the lyrics that is available in google to point out the difference of the HAs if it's an excess air or just a filipino word. 😊❤️

If you don't know what she is saying and would like to know, you could always turn on the English subtitles to get the translation as she is singing. Sometimes knowing what she is saying can help in determining if the singer is displaying the appropriate emotion in her voice and appearance.
If people can just be considerate enough to let the reactors know that CC for English subtitles is available and not assume the reactor will automatically know when requesting this song. It happens too often.

That's what I've been posting also. If they take time and realize the reactor is a foreigner then be considerate enough to let them know CC is available for English subtitles.

Lol its funny to me everytime I hear a vocal coach dissecting every single vocal actions, facial expression, lip movements, etc and how they go about its technicalities, when all the filipino singers are doing is just FEELING the song and yet they get very very studious and technical in their description and trying very hard to interpret whats involved, whats going on, etc. Lol, Its funny coz most great filipino singers never really learned from any professional singing schools nor from vocal coaches and yet they all know how to apply these "techniques " that the vocal coaches have mentioned. Do you wanna learn their sinting secrets ??? ITS LOVE WITH HEARTFELT EMOTIONS !!!! Thats what they DO !!! They just sing their heart out. Usually in most cases, they started singing while theyre still young, everyday doing karaoke, etc. Singing while doing their daily chores and activities all at the same time. Believe it or not, Music is their life LITERALLY !!! AND THE BEST PART IS....Filipinos are great singers because they are NATURAL !!! So....if you want to become a great singers like the Filipinos, you dont need to enroll in any vocal lessons. All you do is this... YOU GOTTA HAVE TO LEARN TO BE IN LOVE FIRST, AND IMMERSE YOURSELF WITH IT. A person becomes a great lover only IF he or she is REALLY inlove right? Music is the same thing. Love and feeling is a powerful teacher. Lastly, practice all the time with sincere dedication non stop. The best part is ... YOU SAVE MONEY !!! 😁😊
