For two people in Makati or BGC, even living like a tourist everyday, $5K USD is hard to spend month after month. $3K to $3.5K USD budget per two people is upper middle class to rich in the Philippines, but would still be lower middle class in the US. If you make $5K a month, no worries. $10K USD per month which is easily achieved for may westerners, and you are deep into the top 1% in the Philippines. The Philippine Presidents "official" pay scale is $8K USD per month.
@@Breavis Not sure of the point you're making? Kids are expensive which is why I said 2 people. If you throw in Kids (plural) and all the extras that you mention, $10K sounds about right in BGC or Makati. Larger condo, etc. But that same lifestyle in the US is 3x to 4x that cost. Come to Hawaii and try to live that same lifestyle. $10K per month, puts your kids in public school, and you're family in the poor house. So poor house in Hawaii, or 1% in BGC or Makati?
For someone who has been back and forth between the US and the PH for 10 years. I’ve never spent more than $3k to $3500 US a month unless there is other SE Asian travel involved. $5k is a very robust budget. $10k shouldn’t even be mentioned. With that budget I’d live in a first world country and not a second to third world country like the Philippines.
I think it depends of people,2000 if you do cooking, don't like to go out all the times,a cheap place to live,if you travel not often,we can modify the budget,I'm older 60+ but in very good health but more relax, maybe it would be ok, thank you John.
Thanks for the video and sharing, I live with the budget of $1500 a month and that's in Tunasan, Muntinlupa City. Very happy enough to not pay any mortgage or rent. Only 5 farangs living in that area and both military veterans.
Great video! Every other blogger makes it seem easy to live under $1500. We are going to be living in a Megaworld project and the mortgage will be around $2000 monthly. Told my Wife that I could live in the Provinces only if we could live a first world lifestyle. The Trolls are going to complain about your realistic price ranges. All the best!
Depends on what you are talking about. Imported grain-fed beef with nice marbling is very expensive because like the Hawaiian Islands, all Western products arrive by ship or plane. In contrast, there's Philippine beef, that costs less, but I would not ever eat that sheet.
PH is not the ideal country for foreigners to settle foreigners in PH can't own properties full business ownership don't enjoy same rights of Filipinos & many are deported foreigners obtain PH citizenship if born & raised in PH which is not the case of expat newcomers The PH Dream is real for rich Filipinos only
Thanks, Mike California XP should be moving over there in April or May 2025.

I really like and appreciate budget videos. Thank you
Your very welcome. Thank you for your support
Love the content…real thing!
Thanks John. More realistic view on budgets. Appreciate it.
Well said, that makes sense, if I would move or live in the Philippines. I'd rather be living comfortably, not saving penny

This is very accurate Sir John.

As a Filipino, if you own houses or condos, just bring $1000 for a month to enjoy almost everything.
Agreed 👍... We own our home. Wife.. teenage son and Mother-in-law (4)🇺🇲🇸🇽

I'm looking at a $2k USD monthly budget for my Six to Eight Month Stay in Cebu City... With a decent Emergency Fund and a 50% monthly Cushion.
Yeah 2500 is a decent spot to aim for with a separate travel fund. For places like BGC a bit more like 3k and up.
100% 👍. I lived in makati in 07/08 even then I was spending over 2k pm. Today BGC is probably more expensive so 3k+ is great for there.
How much you need monthly renting a condo if you have 1 kid that is in college? Thank you
Hmm what do you get for the $20k club?
Great info John. How much is the car insurance there for a Toyota SUV? Thank you
I own a condo in Cebu. I suppose $3000 a month plus not having a house expense I could live well
How expensive is beef? I hear chickens and pigs are popular but not beef so much.

❤❤❤😊😊
U can live comfortably at 1500 if youre single hehe
