Question. My baby is almost 8 months old and he still isn’t crawling. He loves being on his back and tummy and tries to move to the toys by rolling there. Is that normal?

Yes, it is normal for babies to show different developmental milestones at varying rates. Each baby is unique and will reach milestones, such as crawling, at their own pace. Rolling and attempting to reach for toys are positive signs of motor development and indicate that your baby is working on building their strength and coordination.
At almost 8 months old, some babies may already be crawling, while others may not have started yet. Rolling and attempting to move towards toys are early indications that crawling may be on the horizon. Many babies go through stages of exploration and experimentation with different movements before they eventually start crawling.
If your baby is happy and active, showing curiosity and interest in their environment, and achieving other developmental milestones, there is likely nothing to worry about. However, if you have any concerns about your baby's development, it's always a good idea to discuss them with your pediatrician. They can provide personalized guidance and address any specific questions you may have about your baby's growth and development. Remember, every baby is unique, and there is a wide range of what is considered normal in terms of reaching developmental milestones.

Hello and thank you for reaching out! It's absolutely normal for babies to develop at their own pace, and crawling is no exception. In fact, the age when babies start crawling can vary widely. Some babies begin crawling as early as 6 months, while others may not start until closer to their first birthday or even later. Every child is unique, and they all have their individual timelines for reaching developmental milestones.
In the video, we shared some helpful tips and tricks to encourage crawling, such as encouraging reaching for toys, providing tummy time, and exposing babies to different textures. While these techniques can be beneficial, it's essential to remember that each baby develops differently. Some babies might even skip crawling altogether and move straight to standing and walking.
If you have concerns about your baby's development, it's always a good idea to consult with your pediatrician. They can provide personalized guidance based on your baby's specific needs and help address any concerns you might have.
Remember, patience is key, and celebrating each step of your baby's development, no matter how small, is important. My baby uses his tummy to move backwards, is it normal mam

If your baby is using their tummy to move backward, that is also considered a normal form of movement. Babies often explore different ways of moving before they develop more advanced crawling skills.
Moving backward on the tummy can be a result of their developing strength and coordination. It may indicate that your baby is in the early stages of figuring out how to coordinate their body movements. They might be using their arms to push themselves backward or using their legs to propel themselves in that direction.
This type of movement can still provide valuable opportunities for your baby to strengthen their upper body muscles, improve coordination, and develop spatial awareness. As they continue to explore and practice different movements, they will eventually progress to more advanced crawling techniques, such as crawling on hands and knees.
It's important to encourage and support your baby's exploration and movement milestones. Provide a safe and stimulating environment for them to practice their motor skills. Place toys or objects just out of reach to encourage forward movement and exploration.
If you have any concerns about your baby's movement or development, it's always a good idea to consult with your pediatrician. They can evaluate your baby's specific situation and provide guidance and reassurance based on their individual development.
