This episode really hit me hard. Viserys just wanted people to get along in the end.
That's it and that's all. NONE of them tried to make it work.
Paddy considine plays the character so well
He was a weak king. He lacked the ability to make tough decisions. He played favorites with Rhaenyra up until his death.
And they couldn’t even do that for my mans smh.
Thats what a parent wants. It is absolutely gut wrenching to see your close loved ones fight. 😢
I sobbed so hard during this episode. He may not have been the greatest king but he truly had deep, deep love for his family. The fact that he fought so hard for his daughter's sons to protect them from anyone and everyone was beautiful. He didn't care that they weren't "pureblood", they are Rhaenyra's children and that's all that mattered to him.
I still don't like that he didn't talk to Rhaenyra privately beforehand about his relationship with Alicent and plans to marry.
He was a good person, so he couldn't be a great king. His daughter is very much like him in that way.
Viserys shined the brightest, just before his end
Deep love for *rhaenrya
He didn’t give a shit about his other kids
I loved this episode!
Paddy Considine gave such a magnificent performance in this episode that deserves every award. The scene with him making his way to the throne to support his daughters despite being in such agony ,and then having daemon help him up there was so powerful to watch. I'm glad that the last time he was with his whole family was peaceful ( or as peaceful as they can get), but damn his final moments were heartbreaking.
his name ilike Dany's brother, the gold mask mirrors the look when Drogo threw on his head.
viserys is a well written and acted instance of a horrible father and king, who deceives himself that he is well meaning, but really isn't. he is well meaning only to his daughter, to others, including his children by alicent, alicent herself, and his subjects, he is opposite of well meaning . he is a horrible father, husband and king. foreseeable consequences of his actions prove that clearly
Stepped into the comment section just to share the same notion!!
Every SINGLE award!
If someone is interested, I made a really cool Comic Book like montage on the last episode of House Of The Dragon on my channel. Loud really appreciate the critique and if you like it !
It was a lot of work to '' cartoonize '' it .
It’s also interesting symbolism that as viserys has his mask off, the half of his face that is rotting is also the same side of the dinner table where the Hightower’s and his sons sit.
Nice catch!
Glad someone mentioned this. Same goes at the end with Alicent sitting on the bed.
Oooo good one
Oh wow, that's actually a really nice catch.. You got that on your first watch?
Lmfao these comments just prove no one actually pays attention to anything
Viserys' walk in the throne room got me teary and all. Who would've thought
I had to sink into the couch so the wife wouldn’t see me tearing up lol. That scene was super emotional
i didn't tear up like you sissies, but i definitely held my breath
relax, it was a good-natured jab. if you took it any other way, you have your own issues
I applauded so hard
What an incredibly touching performance by Paddy Considine… deserving of an Emmy and masterfully done! 🙌
Idk bout Emmy material but still a great performance
I almost cried
@@crabdipp889 for sure an Emmy performance
I’m convinced that Daemon would be Aemond’s favorite uncle if they weren’t on opposite sides!
Thinking about it. Daemon is his only Targayen uncle
moving the D around u have Daemon and Aemond, so its pretty deliberate of GRRM to create them both so similar
@@egrolb0i13 you dont read.
They’d have a twisted relationship like Locke and Ramsay Bolton I think, bonding over bloodshed
@@knightr0685 what?
The strongest what-if moment for me was Viserys looking at Helaena & Jacaerys dancing. The match that would have saved all 😭
yeah true these 2 unite the houses and they seem to get along
What a judicious proposal!
@@Dannosuke25 "A most judicious proposition" you mean ;)
The dancing scene between Helenae y Jacaerys... It feels like Viserys knew, that it was what it really should have happened: them, married to save the dynasty.
14:18 Alicent was blocking Rhaenyra’s path to the throne! So well done!
Seeing Viserys just wanting his family to love each other and be happy really really made me sad knowing how things are about to go.
Viserys entrance to save his daughter was EPIC.
Deamon taking the head of vaymond shows not only him protecting his wifes honor but also doing something he knows his brother is too weak to do himself, and also shows Viserys that he truly loves his daughter and wasn't just lusting after the throne like he was accused of in previous episodes.
Daemon helping Viserys up the thrown and then crowning him was the BEST!
I applauded so hard
total "you dropped this, king" vibes
"he can keep his tongue" I love this.
I really think Jon Snow was the Prince that was promised, because he may not have killed the night king but he did unite the realm.
For sure
it is jon snow.. 🙂
He doesn't want it
No night king in the book so it doesnt matter.
Well it was jon snow until it was nobody and the stupid showrunners decided to nullify the prophecy in favour of an Arya jump.
Paddy did such a great job. I also want to point out they gave him a death rattle like if you've ever sat near a loved one as they pass that's what you'd hear and it just makes his passing so real and sad.
Death rattle how?
I think Viserys and Daemon moment with the walk and crown was the first time in ALL of game of thrones AND HOTD series that I’ve ever cried
Yea it made me cry too.
Got I cried when jon was named king. Thats it.
You didn't cry at The Door?
Shows never make me cry, as much as I’d like them to but this episode really had me feeling a type of way😅 almost did it
If someone is interested(and it loud make me really happy ), I made a really cool Comic Book like montage on the last episode of House Of The Dragon on my channel . Loud really appreciate the critique andif you like it !
It was alot of work to '' cartoonize '' it .
Omg when daemon said “say it” that was hard. Shoutout viserys.
I would rather you put these vids up later if they are as in depth and researched as you make them. Keep up the good work!
Viserys entrance in the throne room was gangsta! ❤
I love how Daemon just stood in front of Aemond as if telling him he knows what's going to happen to his head if he won't stop.
The single tear at the end 😢
I really like how Daemon and Aemond are both kinda eying each other off every time they meet now. In a way I think they are both very alike, rogue princes whose older brothers ascend to the throne instead of them. Both of them feeling that they are better suited to rule, both of them stronger than their brother. Daemon is just older and has somewhat become less of that wild child he was in his youth, but still dangerous none the less.
*_THANK YOU!_* I missed that moment at 10:24 betwenn *Daemon* and *Rhaenyra!* It was fantastic to see!
Your account makes the best recap videos. Worth the wait!
Viserys is a rare kind and loving character in game of thrones.
Even a devil can be kind and loving to his own child. He completely forsook the kingdom.
The Ruth scream in there gave me shivers. That scene of the Ozarks always gets me.
I love that dinner scene. Again, there's dialogue here without words as their glances and eye contact say more than words. And no sooner than when Viserys was taken back to his chambers, do the grandkids get back to their bitter rivalries. They have inherited their parents' worries, fears, paranoia and hatred, and even with Alicent and Rhaenera burying the hatchet over dinner, or Daemon expressing his concern and support of his dying brother, the kids were raised in an environment that taught them to be distrustful of one another, to humiliate one another, and to despise their own cousins. It shows how hard it is to break that cycle, how hurts can be passed on for generations, both intentionally and unintentionally. I know in my own family that we had our matriarchal grandmother and great aunt who demanded that we all come together for important dates and holidays, despite the very real divisions and cliques within all the cousins and younger siblings. This scene felt reminiscent to me of the final Christmas we had together before my grandmother passed away, and everyone put their knives away for that meal, but after the funeral, boy did the gloves come off! That's what makes this scene so believable to me, that every family struggles with putting the divisions and debts of our elders to rest when they pass.
When Viserys sat on the throne, this time he was leaning to the right side of it instead of the left when he hurt himself. Shows that he is a true king at this moment
When Daemon helped Viserys up and put his crown on his head, it was just a reminder that Daemon never wanted the throne, he just wanted to be by his brother's side. That, and the scene when Daemon sees him again for the first time in years, how hard it was for Daemon to see his older brother so sick and weak, made me so sad that they had not seen each other in so long. Now they are out of time, Daemon's life long wish to have a closer relationship with his brother is never going to happen.
The Dance will not happen if Viserys allowed Daemon to marry Rhaenyra.
Daemon is such an epic character. How he combines chill and ruthlessness is on another level. The singular reason am starting to enjoy HOTD.
Viserys' death got me as hard as Ned and Ygritte's... I mean it was expected, but gut-wrenching because he had noble intentions, he loved his family.
that's the thing about good intentions, they're not always enough
I look forward to your videos as much as the actual episodes.. thanks for catching all of the neat little details that go right over my head!
It begins with Deamon descending into underworld on a blade shaped crevasse and ends with Viserys descending into the underworld near his blade
I had a re-watch as I missed a lot the first time coz am crying and then I cried again. Will probably have a rewatch when my tears dry up! 😪
Amazing Paddy performance and ensemble actors are all great!
Yeah I cried again each time watching my multiple reactors channels lol
@eavoss, not the fastest recap but always the best recap. So detailed and insightful. Worth the wait.
Someone said "I am sure Aemond has Daemon's posters in his room" can't unsee it 😹
What I been waiting for 🙌🏾💙
I enjoy your review of the House of Dragon Episodes and will sadly miss it when the season finishes
Give Paddy all the awards!
Yes that final scene was magnificent 👏👏👏👏👏
Daemon helping up Visaerys was my favorite part of the episode. Amazing that it was improvised!
while Jon never sat on the iron throne he did unite the living to fight the dead while being a king. Maybe the prince that was promised was never to sit on the Iron throne and thinking so was a misinterpretation of the dream
Well, it wasn't "the King" that was promised. So I guess the Iron Throne aspect was optional.
Why Iron Throne? That’s my question. Maybe the dream saw a throne but assumed. Because Jon is king when does all this. A Targ is king. Just in the north.
Your reviews may not be first, but they are definitely the best. The most in-depth, with lots of details, backstory and lore.
Waiting all day for this!
something i loved that i havent seen anyone mention: the specific framing of viserys during his speech at the supper. since prophetic beings in myth are so often associated with physical blindness, look closely at the shots where the blind half of viserys' face is the only side shown. those lines are ALWAYS the most prophetic. including "the realm cannot stand if the house of the dragon remains divided"
Paddy deserves an Emmy
GRRM himself said that Paddy Considine conjured a *_better_* Viserys I than he created on page… if Paddy doesn’t deserve an Emmy for this performance it just proves that The Emmys are a joke.
The prophecy never said a targaryen will kill the night king. It said Targaryen is needed to unite Westeros to fight the darkness which is what Jon did. He may not have sat on the iron throne but he was king in the north and united everyone to be where they were needed to defeat the white walkers. I think the prophecy was fulfilled.
I think dream may not be it was iron throne but A THRONE and was assumed it was. He is on the northern throne
GOT isnt canon
@@tariizm1500 Um yeah it is
@@westsidecater it isnt book canon
They did a great job with a couple shots, especially the one by the Kings bedside, of making Emma look just like Milly.
And just like Aemma! His first wife
Thank you. I keep trying to tie the two together
Great explanation
Been waiting!!! Thank you
Love love love Erik's deep dives💯💯💯
I’ve been waiting for this. 🎉🎉🎉
This is the only episode I watched more than once. Really a masterpiece of a episode.
Not sure if anyone noticed. I found it funny that Aegon was miserable all dinner, barely wanted to interact with people but when Aemond makes that toast, Aegon whips that cup in the air with a giant smile. Thought it was a nice touch.
If your content is good, people will watch or wait for it no matter how long it takes to put out, no need to shade other content creators. As a viewer its also nice to see others thoughts and takes on the episodes.
Shots fired in the intro. Lol. You might be slower than some of the other RUclips channels who do these reviews, but you still the best at it!
Always looking forward to your reviews on House of Dragon. Premium analysis
I like that you take the time to reaaaally watch e every episode, even if it’s published a few days after the episode aired 😊 bet videos of its kind !
Paddy is an amazing actor, loved him in this and especially Dead Mans Shoes
Great call on the mask and the crown for a king. Totally missed that one
This is great! Thank you!
Ive been itching for this
Waiting patiently thank you!!! What an amazing episode!!!!!
One of the best episodes ever! So deep on so many levels..incredible
The Throne Walk by Paddy was such an Epic scene.
I really resonate with king visersys. I’m the head of my house and a manager at work, people look up to me and yet I feel like I actually have no control. I just want people to get along and that scene where he smiled for a second is something I’ve longed for for a long time.
OMG i didn't notice that nod between Rhae and Dae, love it
Everyone keeps saying Criston Cole beat Daemon but he only won because Daemon stopped to gloat, something he would never do in a real war. I think one on one Daemon would take him.
Such a great episode!
The final look of the king was horrifying yet so good to watch 💯💯💯
I love how at the table the Hightowers were sitting to the right of Viserys, which is the side of his face that has decayed. With the Targaryen being on the good... _better_ side.
You actually take the time necessary to rewatch these episodes over whereas other channels put out videos two hours after these episodes air and really just skim over a lot of stuff and don’t let the episode ruminate.
Viserys hobbling into the throne room is one of my favorite scenes ever. He could've been a Dark Souls boss.
There's no shame in facing The Stranger
For he comes one day for us all
But if we ride hard, if we fight fierce
This day we may avoid his call
But the best laid plans can go awry
If this is our day to die
I'll see you on the other side
For our cause is just and true
BRAVO!!!!! 👏👏👏
Paddy Considine was remarkable. I look forward to these break downs thanks so much for such details
This was such an amazing and beautiful episode. I loved it so much that I bought and read Fire and Blood. Absolutely amazing story writing as always from GRRM. Hopefully Winds of Winter comes out sooner than later :)
By far the best episode
If Paddy doesn't win the Emmy... We ALL riot! 💪🏻💯✊🏻
Or rott
Aemond and Daemond are the greatest characters in this series...Aemond only said a few words but it was so powerfully acted that it got me in shivers😂😂
... It's so funny watching reactors saying "What did he say?"... Lmao, that's why you turn on closed caption... You miss alot without the sub titles.
The nod at 10:27 like the nod Leonidas got from Queen Gorgo from the movie 300 to "unleash hell."
If someone is interested, I made a really cool Comic Book like montage on the last episode of House Of The Dragon on my channel. Loud really appreciate the critique and if you like it !

“Dragons can travel from Dragonstone to King’s Landing or the Stormlands in less than a day” while the brilliant writing of season 7 had Daenarys traveling from Dragonstone to near Hardhome in hours lmao
I always watch everything with the subtitles turned on
The King's Dinner Speech was Touching I got a lil teary eyed😥
I love how Daemon looked at Aemond after the Strong insult....he looks at him like "i had so much hope in you, but i feel like i might have to kill you"
Viserys speech at the dinner was amazing

My boy Viserys taught me to say no to drugs
He’s backkkkkk😊
Can't wait for the scene at Storms End
You really need to be making these sooner, now i gotta sit up at 1am to watch your greatness
Be thankful he makes them at all
POOR YOU. THE WORLD MUST CHANGE IT'S SCHEDULE BECAUSE YOU HAVE A BED TIME
I love this channel
This is a much better review than the channel's breakroom session.
Visery needs an Emmy because he was great
Yes.. Jon may not be the one who killed the Night king... but he did Unite the realm against the cold and the dark.. which was the prophecy...
Paddy Considine's performance will be studied in film school. Amazing!
When Viserys comes to the court that shows his resolve to support his daughter for the throne, regardless of his condition
