Loved the Bug Me Video's back in the day. Volume 6 & 7 really informed when I did my pan-off resto. I would love to see the streaming service. I'm glad these legends are still at. Thank you for doing this episode.
I Loved the Bug me videos. I helped me massively when i was rebuilding my first engine. As for the videos today i think sadly that you can find the same information for free on RUclips today. I would love to see them on RUclips and i think they would do really well. Great to see that Rick is doing well! 🤩
I haven't seen him in a million years. He was a member of our Volkswagen club back then, I didn't even know him by his first name, everybody just called him BugMe! 😁👍
@@HapticGarage Yeah man, that was back in the 90s. When we didn't have clear videos from @SladesVWBeetle to keep us out of trouble! Instead we had to adjust the tracking on a VCR and hope for the clearest picture for our BugMe tapes!
Oh that's a blast from the past but I remember dealing with tracking. Hue, tint, contrast, brightness... all used to be owner accessible knobs on a TV! And ditto on Slade, good to have some real-deal how-to videos on RUclips
Hi Brent, Great review of The Bug Me Video👍🏻. I never heard about the man but this was very Interesting✨. Thanks for sharing have a great weekend🎊Greetings Hubertus.🇳🇴🇳🇱🍀☮🙏🏻🇺🇸
well dang that is a pretty cool experience! those bug me videos are a staple among us VDubbers working in our garages! nice work on the interview and I bet that was some fun hanging out with Rick!
Thanks Annie, indeed those videos are well represented in common VW folk garages like ours. And you're right, I've really enjoyed reliving the visit as I get caught up on video editing. There's another one coming of more parts picking. What a good time it was. Always good hearing from you!
I had bought all bug me videos when they first came out and have all ten plus the greatest VW show on earth plus the type four engines and have been waiting for more videos, its great to see Rick in good health
Great to see Rick, I watched the videos before, during and after doing any work on my bug. It was like having a mate in the garage checking my work. Cheers from the UK!
I would have never made it through my 68 bug restoration without those videos! I had every DVD and I still refer to them 15 years later! Thanks Bug Me Video!
Man, how cool is that. I would have loved to been there. I have the vhs tapes still, too. I had dug out my old vhs player recently. Then sent Rick an email, and he responded. I was so surprised. Would love to be able to stream them.
Thanks @benntn and I agree, it was really cool to hang out with Rick. Lots of support for streaming so hopefully something will work out. Thanks for watching!
Woooooooow!!! THE RICK HIGGINS!! What an exciting episode!!! Rick, my purchase of your videos helped give me the grounds to completely restore my ‘67! Thank you thank you thank you❤️❤️❤️
Great VW Man and what really helped me get excited about VW Aircooled was watching all the Bug Me Videos. His sons and family also helped him. I still own them, originally on VHS and now DVD. Thanks for doing this interview.
Thanks @MacSociety, I couldn't agree more. Rick is the real deal, just as friendly in person as he is on the classic Bug Me Videos. Thanks for joining us!
I bought that book, the car of the century.and paid the 400 bucks. Also bought volume one for a lot less. So much information. A must have when doing restorations
Thanks Kevin, it was a lot of fun. That's Carson and Lance on the left, they were a big help during this project and great sports for the group picture
Oh yes, the "Bug Me" videos! Learned from and energized me back in the '90's! Would like to see them offered streaming. This was a great and informative watch. Thanks for this!
Thanks Mike, me too! I'll leave location info to Rick but I'm sure he'd like to hear from you. Remember when DVDs were the new thing?!? We were amazed at how something the size of a 650MB CD could hold 4.7GB!
They have one with featured clips on it www.youtube.com/@BugMeVideo, but I get what you mean and I'm sure it would do very well if they want to go that route.
Whoa! So wierd! I just searched "bug Me Video" today being curious if anything new was up with that. That was this morning! And you posted this in late afternoon!
Just finished the video. Sorry to see his shop was beaten down by the storm. Hopefully they can get that roofed up soon to keep all the VW magic inside protected.
Nice ride @serenanunn9299, I have 13 window deluxe too! There is an electrical video, maybe check out the bugmevideo.com website. Good luck with your project!
Wow! That's awesome Brent! Nice job! It's great to see Rick on film again and hear his story. I purchased the complete series from Rick a few years ago. Really nice guy! 😎😎😎
@HapticGarage His father runs the vw shop up here in New York. But Chris and his wife live in FL. The last time I heard. He wants to move the shop down to FL in the near future.
He should publish all those videos on youtube.....It probably would do well....Better than selling them. people would watch them for the nostalgia even if it is not that clear video.
Hey Mike, I'm sure they would be very popular if offered that way. He's considering his options. Thanks for your input and I hope you're doing well during all the fires over there!
I have all of the bugme DVDs but it can be a pain to dust off and connect the DVD player just for a quick look at something. I would definitely be interested in the streaming option. I've been wrenching on Volkswagens for many years and I often look for videos just to make sure I'm not forgetting something about a procedure I haven't done in a while. There are many hacks out there in RUclips land - but anything coming from Rick Higgins would have instant credibility.
Wow, that is cool, I agree they are a fun car to drive so much that when I got divorced the first time, I gave my wife at the time my 67-fastback mustang and kept my 65 bug to drive. She didn't drive a stick anyway and I was more than happy to keep the bug. Looking back probably not the greatest decision ever made with how much the fastbacks are worth now, but she messed it up anyway and gave it to the local high school auto shop basically for free. crazy
That's a heck of a story Tim but I wouldn't second guess your decision to keep the bug. Investments are one thing but the joy we derive from these cars is priceless! Thanks as always for being here
id love some more in depth info on bugs.....my 15 yo daughter just bought a 72 bug for her first car.....and growing up with muscle car era hotrods/street rods my entire life.....i know nothing on vws......so any info on german engineering to a american motor heads aleways welcome
Very cool Steve, I think you'll like this crowd. You're wise to expect engineering differences; both are fascinating and respond well to careful maintenance but the aircooled engine is a unique beast. Luckily there are many resources including the Bug Me Videos. Welcome to the fun!
@HapticGarage well I'm learning right beside her.....they are a little quirky compared to big cam multi carb v8s but its been a fun adventure so far....thanks for the invite
What a cool father/daughter project! Quirky is the perfect word; there are a few. I have a warmed up 454 in the Moseyhome; the similarities are sometimes more fascinating than the differences!
Great video! It's great to hear from Rick himself! Yes, I vote for streaming!
Thanks @dbroenen!
Great video! Awesome to see Rick again! Tell him hello from me! His videos are great!
Thanks @dubworldvwadventures, will do (although he'll likely see this!). See you at VDub Getaway!
Glad to see Rick Higgins and it's great he's doing well. I will always treasure my Bug Me DVD's!
Agreed on all points! Thanks for watching @66combi

Happy New Year Hubertus! Thanks, always great to hear from you and glad you got to know Rick a little. Have a good week!
Where can I get the type 4 upright conversion?
Hey @smsjr36, I don't know much about them but you may check out the Jake Raby "DTM" version and the CSP version available at CIP1.

Cheers @Chris-kx1df, yes, Rick is the same in person. Just a great guy who loves to help out fellow VW folks. Thanks for watching!
I would have never made it through my 68 bug restoration without those videos! I had every DVD and I still refer to them 15 years later! Thanks Bug Me Video!
You're very welcome.
That's cool Mark, thanks for letting Rick know how much his videos helped!

So glad we could help.
Thanks @jp6940, Rick means a lot our hobby, thanks for letting him know!
Oh my goodness! This guy started it all for me. I used his how-to videos to rebuild a dp1600 on my early bay YEARS ago. Still runs great!
So glad they helped.
Now that's a cool success story, thanks for sharing @csmith785!
Great VW Man and what really helped me get excited about VW Aircooled was watching all the Bug Me Videos. His sons and family also helped him. I still own them, originally on VHS and now DVD. Thanks for doing this interview.

“You can’t be too uppity if you like Volkswagen Beetles, cause they’re not that uppity.” What a great statement!
You've got that right @ekimp252, very true!
So cool to see Rick again! I’ve owned his videos for many years and they were so helpful to me! Great job Brent!
That was our original purpose to help keep the old VWs on the road and share the fun.
Thanks Glen and thanks for letting Rick know how much he means to our hobby!
I bought that book, the car of the century.and paid the 400 bucks. Also bought volume one for a lot less. So much information. A must have when doing restorations
Wow @billyb259, I can relate- sometimes you just have to pay what they are asking. I'm glad you're putting it to good use!
wow - what a treat to see Rick Higgins ! I'm happy he's doing so well - he looks great and he's as sharp and as kind as ever!
Yeah me too @malkucken, great to see he's doing well and just as nice as we remember him from the videos.
Aww Gee. Thanks
Great video! Awesome way to end it, you had me cracking up with the faces!😂
Thanks Kevin, it was a lot of fun. That's Carson and Lance on the left, they were a big help during this project and great sports for the group picture
Streaming approved please!!!
Agreed!
Oh yes, the "Bug Me" videos! Learned from and energized me back in the '90's! Would like to see them offered streaming. This was a great and informative watch. Thanks for this!
Very cool insight @Oldbugssy, thanks for sharing. This was a pleasure to be a part of from start to finish, I'm glad you enjoyed it!
So awesome. Great video and definitely do some Streaming Rick.
Thanks @kyridgejumper, glad you enjoyed it and thanks for providing Rick with your feedback
Very good videos, helped do heater channels and pans on a Ghia.
Agreed Kent, I have that one too and found it very helpful when I did the pans and channels on Dweezil. Thanks for watching!
Good job Brent!
Thanks David!
Too cool, I have leaned so much from Rick Higgins. I’m old school and I like the DVD’s.
Btw, is Rick living in Fort Myers FL now.
Thanks Mike, me too! I'll leave location info to Rick but I'm sure he'd like to hear from you. Remember when DVDs were the new thing?!? We were amazed at how something the size of a 650MB CD could hold 4.7GB!
I have three of his videos on VHS but no player anymore. Would love to have them digitally now
Thanks for your input @vdubbsxb, hopefully something will work out
This is so cool. The bug me videos are amazing and have helped a lot
Cool indeed Zimm, Rick is a special part of our hobby!
That was our original purpose to help keep the old VWs on the road and share the fun.
@@rickhiggins6521 thanks for responding and I think the streaming idea would be great
The bug me videos, were my youtube back in the day.
Indeed they were Vintage 76, but never replaced!
@HapticGarage
Surprised bugme videos, hasn't started a RUclips channel.
They have one with featured clips on it www.youtube.com/@BugMeVideo, but I get what you mean and I'm sure it would do very well if they want to go that route.
@HapticGarage
If Rick did videos on different projects like you and others do. It would help sell more dvd. Just my opinion.
Can we still get the videoS? Got my answer, yes on steam if possible. They are still very valid .
WHAAAATT??? It's Rick Higgins!! I'm still waiting on the suspension DVD. 🤣🤣🤣
We are too. lol
Indeed it is Jay!
Whoa! So wierd! I just searched "bug Me Video" today being curious if anything new was up with that. That was this morning! And you posted this in late afternoon!
Nice timing! I'm sure there's a clever "the universe will provide" joke here but regardless, I'm glad you found us Jason!
Just finished the video. Sorry to see his shop was beaten down by the storm. Hopefully they can get that roofed up soon to keep all the VW magic inside protected.
Yeah, it's really unfortunate that happened. Rick just takes it in stride; he's a good example beyond VWs!
It would be great if a group of people could get together and help fix his shop !👍
Great to see the man himself.
Indeed it is Greg, thanks for joining us during the premiere today!
Got my vhs heater channel vid here somewhere. It was that and magazines 20yr ago pre internet
Isn't that crazy? Lots has changed in the last 30 years
Great. A guy with a can of KROIL on his workbench can't be all that bad. Cheers to you, hepatic dude 👍
Yeah it's good stuff! Thanks for watching @IAm1InTheIAm
Oh yes, we have a 1966 13 window deluxe Splitscreen Campervan, we are looking at replacing the wiring loom, any videos available for that??

Chris Vallone, now lives in FL.
I remember hearing that- didn't he move down here in the last year or so? Would be cool to run into him at a show sometime!

That would be huge! There's an excellent vintage VW scene down here to support a shop.
