When DMX came out with the song that has the lyrics, "y'all gunna make me lose my mind up in here, up in here", I was a single mom with two teen age girls. They use to play that song looooouuuuud. I kidded around with them, saying that was my song to them. P.S.- I had an 18 month old son, also, and worked 12 hour nites!! Whewwwww. Sad that so many talented artists have passed away young. He was a great one! 💜
CRNA is way way more stressful than being icu nurse! nurse anesthetist decides which drugs to give based on their independent assessment while icu nurses administer drugs based on orders and unit protocol. The responsibility is heavier and bigger on CRNA than on icu nurse.
You must work in a great hospital! Most of the meds abs drops I give is after my assessments. We literally call the hospital it’s abs tell him what to put in because we don’t have an intensivist.
You are such an intelligent nurse, and I really enjoy following your sweet family. I am a retired L&D nurse. Very stressful at times, because night shift had minimal docs. The nurse's role is to monitor mother and baby, looking for subtle signs via the strip and the pt. to let the nurse know when there is a problem. It is very much like CC nursing, because the nurse is responsible for 2 lives!! Just like you were saying, what is looking like a routine delivery can turn into an emergent one in the blink of an eye!! As the nurse, you have to know what is happening with the baby, comparing how the baby reacts to mom's contractions, etc. I'm sure you have done clinical rotation in OB enough to relate. Seeing the miracle of birth over and over makes it all worth while!! Now, you are the "angel" who gives the mom relief from her pain, and they are very happy to see you!! I hope John got better soon after this video. - God bless you all- Nurse Kelly from MD.
More Day in the Life videos (Ideally focusing on your work life and work/life balance)! You're so helpful, especially for someone who's heading off to college soon.
I made friends with the anesthesiologist and the CRNA at my last clinical rotation in OB. They showed me the anesthesia machine and the CRNA let me watch two epidurals and a few c-sections. It was really really sweet and nice that they allowed me to watch and shadow them for a short time. I was so thankful because it's only motivating me when I study so that I feel confident when I graduate. I feel like nursing in general can be pretty stressful but overall it depends on how each person handles their stress. This video was great! I can't believe how big Baby B is getting! Also cheers to getting vaccinated! 🤩
Gotta love this girl!!! Awesome video as always!!! Jon singing DMX made my evening!!! Still awesome video and thanks for sharing. Headed to subscribe to Jon's page as well. Much love to ALL.
So my take-away is if you like control (referring to having control over the patient’s every bodily function), work well under pressure, and like to hyper-focus on something that requires you to think critically and quickly, this is the career for you! Sounds like I am on the right path!😂
i hope that this will be my life one day. i’m currently a junior in hs doing dual enrollment. i’ll be down with my ged by the end of hs which is pretty cool. anyways i rlly love ur channel! thanks for all this awesome content.
Do you think nurse anesthesia school prepared you well for times like these? Is it something you have to figure out yourself? I can’t imagine being prepared for emergencies at this point in time, but wonder if anesthesia school would teach me enough to feel confident.
Are there non-clinical CRNA jobs that people can do later in their career? The one thing I like about being an RN is the opportunity to make lateral career shifts if I get tired of clinical work.
I've been in the CVICU for over a year now. I am going to shadow a CRNA on Monday, but I am also open to dermatology NP, since I'm passionate about skin care and helping people feel their best. I love how I have these two very different choices as a nurse.
Hi, could you make a video on the role and perspective of an anesthesia provider, specifically a CRNA during a code in the OR and outside the OR? I’m very interested since theres not much coverage on that.
Hey, my name is Ariel. I'm 23. My plan is to become a CRNA. I want to become a "Medical Nurse Anesthesist". I will become a "scrub tech" for a year. Is CRNA school hard? I don't trust my parents. I'm scared. I don't know how to survive.
New subscriber here! Love your content, I’m thinking about going to CRNA school in a few years. I would love to hear your perspective on your work life balance. What is your work schedule like? From your videos I’ve seen already it sounds like you’re doing 4 10 hour shifts per week?
Can you make a video about how you stay so positive and motivated in healthcare/how you don’t get burnt out? I’m in nursing school right now and so many nurses are so burnt out and do not want to be working
My sickness after the second Moderna vaccine lasted 12 hours with a high fever and the like, my sister's symptoms lasted FOUR DAYS, which included a fever. I guess it just varies from person to. person. Hopefully your hubs felt better quickly!
Hi love your videos they are so helpful I was wondering If you apply to a CRNA program and the requirement is two years of ICU experience but you do not have the two years when applying .But will have the two years before you start in the program dose that count or do you have to have two years before you can even apply. Because I noticed sum of the programs will let you apply 6 months before they start .
Is achieving a BSN with an (ADN) RN to BSN feasible/ acceptable to be accepted into a CRNA program? One would think they’d view the more formal method in a better light, but the first method would be faster.
Not sure if you still have this question, but the description box says she went the ADN route then BSN so I’m assuming it wouldn’t play a huge factor for CRNA schools
Hi! My name is Habiba Noor and I really want to be a CRNA in the future. Currently, I'm a sophomore in high-school and I have an assignment due soon. Basically, I have to interview someone from a career field that interests me. I was wondering if I could email you some questions and you could answer them for me?
3:00 I ended up with some serious co2 build up on my patient about 1 hr after after pneumoperitoneum was initiated. kept trying to blow it off but couldn't quite keep up (etco2 kept making its way back to 45). fortunately, the surgeon finished. patient ended up with crepitus on the upper chest/neck. after they dropped the pneumo it took a little bit to blow the rest off but I got the pt extubated safely
Why in the world would she cover up her natural beauty with a synthetic product? Maybe you should consider wearing turtle neck sweatshirts though...just a thought.
LOL you’re literally the cutest. You stopped to say “RIP DMX”. The cutest human being ever!
😭💜😭💜😭💜
Yup. I spent a day w/her and Jon for a work thing last year. She is EXACTLY LIKE THIS in person!!! ♥️♥️♥️

Great video! I have been following your journey since your SRNA days, and I’m blessed to say that I start CRNA school next month ☺️
Hi sis! Did you make it? I'm praying you're almost done with your journey. I'm a nursing student but this has interested me.
Admirable this WOMAN!😊
me in crna school right now using these video as motivation. I will survive lol
Yes you will!! It's so worth it!
Are done with crna school already ?? How long took you

I agree, it is much more stressful in that way!

I am a first semester nursing student and my last clinical last week I was able to follow a CRNA for 2 cases and it was so intense, but so cool!
These videos are motivating me and my buddy Leo in Nursing school. We will get to CRNA school one day in the future.
Best of luck to you 💫

That's so awesome, I'm glad you got got to experience all that! B is growing so fast 😭❤
manifesting this !!! I will get accepted to CRNA school!
Insufflation can always take a normal healthy patient and turn it critical. Their HR drops and mine goes into SVT.
Hi bolt
Loved this video and the close out clip. Y’all are too funny! Feel better John!!
Thanks!
So glad you loved it 💜

When you put it like that, I guess so! Haha but honestly I'm not a control freak. I definitely like to focus though!
Such an inspiration to us aspiring CRNAS

Hi. I enjoyed this video. Your daughter is adorable!
I live in Logan, WV and I’m starting nursing school this fall. I’m going to work my way up to CRNA, one day I may be your coworker!
Small world! That is so awesome!
The 2nd Moderna beat me UP. 2-3 days of full on flu symptoms. Obviously would do it over and over again, but during that time- it’s rough.
Do you think nurse anesthesia school prepared you well for times like these? Is it something you have to figure out yourself? I can’t imagine being prepared for emergencies at this point in time, but wonder if anesthesia school would teach me enough to feel confident.
It looks like you are doing a great job with her hair
Thank you 💜
“I’d compare it to like.. breaking your femur.” Hahahaha, I love you guys. 😂
How many years of ICU experience did you have when you applied to CRNA school?
Are there non-clinical CRNA jobs that people can do later in their career? The one thing I like about being an RN is the opportunity to make lateral career shifts if I get tired of clinical work.
Yes, you could go into management, teaching or research!

That outro 😂😂😂 yall have me weak lol
Lol just a normal conversation for us 🤣
Do you get to interact with patients? If so, what's the level of interaction involved?
Yes every day! During pre and post anesthesia assessments. Also some cases we do under regional while patients are awake!
Gosh baby B is to cute she say love you
Hope you have a great day
Thanks, you too!
she said RIP DMX and Jons been singing the ruff ryders theme song all week!? My favorite white people on youtube for sure!

What do you typically do if your pt has a bronchospasm when you’re waking up a pt?
Depends on how bad. Lidocaine down ett. Or epi 10-20mcg.
Depends on the situation but typically turn up the gas, albuterol, lidocaine, etc.

Can you do a video with other “advanced nurses” (idk the correct term for it) discussing the different options u have as a nurse to advance ur career
