I love Sikh temples. We visited two in Delhi and they are so hospitable and serene, really amazing... thank you. We hope to visit one in Frankfurt, Germany, near where we live. If any one knows that one and can offer advice, I'd love to hear from you. I hope Lee is feeling better by now. My best wishes.
Not sure how to say this but one of the BEST videos by Frugal Travellers. I’ve heard of Amritsar, the Golden Temple, the food, and the nearby border with Pakistan. Always wanted to go on my trip to India. Since my ability to travel is somewhat limited-not sure if I can manage a trip so I can only say THANK YOU 🙏🏻 for such a wonderful video-it was like being there!! 😊
Thank you so much for your kind comment, Lucchese. This was a special video for us because it was such an amazing experience to visit here. Definitely a huge bucket list experience in our lives that we will never forget. We're so happy to share it with you. ❤
Sikhs don't like to be called indians tho. The white and golden temple you saw near the queue was attacked by Indian army in 1984 and was destroyed completely. It is called eternal throne and is second most important building. U can see the bullet marks on the brick wall. They have left it like that for people to see. So.. punjab is more or less outside India. ❤
The architecture of the Golden Temple beautifully reflects its deep spiritual message. The four entrances symbolize inclusivity, welcoming people from all directions and backgrounds. As we enter from any of these entrances, stepping down into the complex serves as a reminder to leave our ego behind and embrace humility. As we walk around the temple, the water surrounding it offers a moment for introspection. The reflective surface acts as a mirror to our mind and spirit, while taking a dip symbolizes the purification of the soul. Ultimately, there is a single path leading to the main temple, signifying that no matter from which path we had entered, if we are able to rid ourselves of ego and purify our soul, we will all ultimately converge toward the divine higher power. Such profound symbolism makes the Golden Temple not just a place of worship but a living lesson in unity and humility.
Thank you so much for this. It explains the purpose of the temple excellently. Our experience there left us feeling humble and blessed. I would recommend it to anyone as a good way to rid themselves of ego. We are forever grateful. ❤
We are forward thinking community so a lot of work at this temple involve creative thinking how to serve people who visit. It is good if you sit and meditate there.
The Sikh people are the perfect example of what good community spirit is. It taught me so much by going there. It still blows my mind how they can organise something so incredible and make it work by people power. Much love ❤
we visited the golden temple at late night in December and the marble floor was so cold as the temperature dipped to below 10 deg Celcius. it was very less crowded and there was almost no queue into the golden temple and we were blessed to be able to watch a prayer ceremony at the premises

Again. Sikhs don't like to be called indians tho. The white and golden temple you saw near the queue was attacked by Indian army in 1984 and was destroyed completely.
