A land variant, the LPWS (Land Phalanx Weapon System), part of the C-RAM system, was developed.[6] It was deployed to counter rocket, artillery and mortar attacks during the 2021 US withdrawal from Afghanistan.[7][8] The U.S. Navy also fields the SeaRAM system, which pairs the RIM-116 Rolling Airframe Missile with sensors based on the Phalanx. Because of their distinctive barrel-shaped radome and their automated nature of operation, Phalanx CIWS units are sometimes nicknamed "R2-D2" after the droid from the Star Wars films.[9][10] History[edit] The Phalanx Close-In Weapons System (CIWS) was developed as the last line of automated weapons defense (terminal defense or point defense) against all incoming threats, including antiship missiles (AShMs or ASMs), aircraft including high-g and maneuvering sea-skimmers, and small boats. The first prototype system was offered to the U.S. Navy for evaluation on the destroyer leader USS King in 1973 and it was determined that further work was required to improve performance and reliability. Another evaluation successfully followed, and the weapon system was approved for production in 1978. Phalanx production started with orders for 23 USN and 14 foreign military systems. The first ship fully fitted out was the aircraft carrier USS Coral Sea in 1980. The Navy began placing CIWS systems on non-combatant vessels in 1984. You do know tasers, pepper spray, etc are considered less lethal weapons, plus you absolutely can cause permanent harm or kill someone. This is mostly seen within older folk or people with health issues that's why police often have to be careful using their tasers and pepper spray. What people don't understand and what I think should be taught even for less lethal weapons (especially less lethal because people have that same mindset like yourself that they think they can do no harm) using a weapon to harm someone who isn't an immediate threat can still either land you in jail or the victim can sue for damages. That's why self defense is such a slippery slope. I got story. In 2016, i was waiting at home with my mom while my dad was out at work. It was around 7pm we were watching tv, my mom had just cooked some pizza, and we were having a good time. Then we heard a knock at the door so my mom went to go see who was there, but there was nobody, so she locked the door and we kept watching tv. Then there was another knock, then it became weird. My mom went outside to see who was there, again nobody. Until she screamed, there was a car i didnt recognise in our driveway, and 3 guys in clown costumes came out, i ran upstairs and called the police because they had bats, they were beating my mom amd i think they wanted to steal from us. The police came and arrested the guys, an ambulance took my mom and i called my dad to get home. The police told him what happened and apparently those 3 guys had killed somebody before coming to our house.

When I worked security one of my Patrolman had a clown encounter. Dude tried doing the menacing walk forward until he realized that the flashlight my Patrolman buddy had was connected to his pistol and then literally tripped backwards and started yelling “I was just kidding, don’t shoot me!”

I got story.
In 2016, i was waiting at home with my mom while my dad was out at work. It was around 7pm we were watching tv, my mom had just cooked some pizza, and we were having a good time. Then we heard a knock at the door so my mom went to go see who was there, but there was nobody, so she locked the door and we kept watching tv. Then there was another knock, then it became weird. My mom went outside to see who was there, again nobody. Until she screamed, there was a car i didnt recognise in our driveway, and 3 guys in clown costumes came out, i ran upstairs and called the police because they had bats, they were beating my mom amd i think they wanted to steal from us. The police came and arrested the guys, an ambulance took my mom and i called my dad to get home. The police told him what happened and apparently those 3 guys had killed somebody before coming to our house.
