AGAIN THIS IS MY PERSONAL CONVICTION
This is what God put on my heart to share.
Hope this is helpful to those who may not know or understand.
As a Man of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Incorporated, I respect your personal decision. One thing that I tell Ques.. Always be yourself.. I see you did what you thought was best for you as man.. If removing yourself from Omega Psi Phi is required for your personal growth, you did the best thing.. But if you have any more paraphernalia you forgot to toss out, pass it down to me.. Even if you don’t, you will forever be my brother

If you are a member of a sorority or fraternity and you’re outraged and angry with him for what he’s saying and for denouncing his allegiance to this fraternity.....you may want to reflect on where those emotions are coming from.

As a young college student in the 90s I tried to get in a sorority and I wanted it so badly.. I was dealing with self esteem issues and my father had passed away. My widowed mother and I came up with the $500 at the time. Purchased a suit for the interview and this was a lot for us at the time. When I got that rejection letter, it hurt so much. at the time. I was in a backslidden state and I wish I had been focused on my relationship with Christ rather than seeking acceptance from a sorority. I always wish they had returned the money to me as a scholarship because we were struggling having lost my father. I still only blame myself. It took time for me to heal from that experience and finally accept that it was okay not to be in a sorority. First time I told this in the open. I am now free from the regret and condemnation.

Honey I went to a HBCU and I saw the sororities/ frats and observing pledging and the waypledgees were treated I said he'll naw I don't want to be no parts of these NASTY HEARTED people. Then all of a sudden were SISTER Or BROTHER gtfoh

So let me get this straight. A lot of you claim to be christians and follow the path of God, but a man gives his reasons for leaving an organization, and these same "christians" spit vile nastiness in the comments section? Wow.
Because he is a walking contradiction, the bible also speaks against tattoos and earrings but he not going to get those removed. He has a right to do whatever he feels at the same time don't use God or the bible to try and justify your actions just say you made the right decision for you.
No, his actions, or lack thereof, do nothing to explain the angry, hate-filled commentary from other greeks that also claim to be Christians. I get this, "I am an unapologetic Christian, but f*** you for leaving Omega!" vibe from a lot of folks on here.

I renounced/denounced the sorority “AKA” two years ago. I sent my letter to the top explaining why I was leaving the organization and turned in my pin. I wrote a letter to many of my line sisters. I am free of this idolatry and praying that the Holy Spirit will get many others attention that it is not right.
Amen! Denounced AKA over 13 years ago. I remember singing proudly "all of my heart and my soul belongs to AKA," until one day it hit me, how can they have my heart and soul when that should belong to God?

Unfortunately the true meaning of what the founders intended the fraternities to stand for has been watered down to oppress and degrade each other. I constantly questioned... why must we subject ourselves to physical violence when the founders didn't do this to themselves?!?!
Rashard Hollis Yes they did! Where do you think it all came from? There was judging, drama, hazing, secrets and partying amongst all founders in ALL Greek letter organizations. These organizations were created out of temptations of the flesh and a want to possess worldly things, and to have power over people. All the good things are only seen externally, but internally, it’s an entirely different world alot of people know absolutely nothing about. It’s sinister.

I never pledged in college. I wanted to though.The closer I got to graduating from college the lesser my interest became. I had always trusted in God and never wanted anything to come before Him.

As a Senior in college right now, I agree with you. I pledged a Latin Fraternity not long ago and I left, reasons why cause I am about to graduate and time is running out. I do not have time plus going through the process was unbearable.

Understood. That was me too. I've been in that mindset lately, but still up in the air. I remember when my sister crossed and was like expect a phone call. Nah, that was me six years ago. I'm good. I have it in me to at least go to a grad chapter meeting and really decide.
Im in middle school, I will be a freshman in a few months. At my years at my school, most of the teachers and staff there are in a greek letter organization. At first, I wanted to be in a sorority. But once I asked my mom and pastor about, I reailzed my mistake. And my teacher is apart of the Omega Psi Phi. He tries convince other students to join these organizations, and he tried to whoop me and my friend with a paddle, which is included in initiation. And I done alot of research and im writing a essay exposing the truth about the sins that my teacher commited. I pray that they will reverence Elohim and repent.

As you can see from the replies, you cannot even support the denouncers for their decision to do so. Any such support is automatically and robotically ASSumed that you will do the same.
Your EX-frat brother, Fred Hatchett (also former Mason), not only denounced his membership in both organizations, but CONvinced others to do the same. After they did that, he also CONvinced them to send him their organization's rituals! Then he published a book revealing said rituals.
So, they weren't just denouncing: they were also violators....!!

As i was reading this I see there are so many judging this brother. A man can stand on his own feet and say his peace. People have their own perception of the bible. Be glad this young brother is in the bible.

I have no qualms with a person turning in their shingle, pin, sorority/fraternity property and walking away. It's those who go overboard publishing their FORMER organization's ritual(s) and misjudging those who serve God who REMAIN active with their organizations. They expect us to contort into a pretzel around the extreme interpretation of the Bible that they've manufactured.

I remember in college i was asked to join,but they(the fraternity) didn't give out no info and was too secretive for me. I had bad vibes,so i followed my heart and stayed away. thank GOD for discernment!

Not all chapters are microcosms of their fraternities (or sororities). They have their own personalities, the college chapters, ever-changing personalities.
Not sure what school you attended, so I cannot speak on the chapter or the year.
If some of MY frat brothers misrepresented the Fraternity, itself, I apologize. Even if another chapter misrepresented their national organizations. I apologize for that as well.
Chances are, 4 -5 years later, that chapter exhibited a whole different personality.
I don't that the alumni brothers of that frat in your area are the same as the college brothers who live in your area.

Ok so this is not denouncing the frat due to his lack of respect or misplaced expectations of it. He denounced the frat because he felt that it was interfering with his relationship with God and for that I stand with him. As a member of Omega Psi Phi fraternity I'll say God comes before everything, including the frat! Now here's the kicker... Omega is supposed to make you a better version of yourself! Joining the frat shouldn't serve as a distraction from your faith unless you were already distracted to begin with. You should be using the frat to strengthen your faith by sharing the word within your new found connection. After all, Omega Psi Phi fraternity, Inc. were found by men of christian faith!

I know this is a two weeks old comment and I might be late, but Bro your not making Sense. Why do blacks feel the need to join these "Greek" organizations when we are not Greek at all. Judging by your name, you are an Igbo man. Igbos have been rumored to be the true Israelites as many of our cultural practices mirror the ones foretold in the Bible. YOU are a big contradiction because your supposed to be serving the Most High and not pledging to a foreign fraternity that names itself after the Greek alphabet. That makes zero sense. I attended one grad chapter meetings. I became very vexed and convicted in my spirit..Overall being connected to a fake nice, superficial secret society. Finally, after being a t-shirt wearer, and checking my ego, I got the inspiration to renounce DST. I am now woke👀l have repented and prayed for forgiveness. Praise God I'm grateful, redeemed and bless that I didn't die in my sin. 💯

We publicly joined and through that public statement it validated others to join. So many of us are convicted to Publicly DENOUNCE. WHEN GOD CALLS YOU OUT HE WANTS ALL OF YOU. In this season you will feel so alone but just cling on to God and be still he will strengthen and restore you. Those who hate you now were never with you if it was in the name of your organization.

I joined DST to help the black race. As an organization, we help Black people in particular women. All you wanna b's who do nothing but post on line. Where is your work and money to help the black race. I am a Harvard Educated Medical School ER Surgery working in New York, at the poorest community hospital. I can't speak for anyone and their organization (former organization), but my induction and initiation rituals weren't public. They were private.
Allah/God has not called me to denounce my fraternity. I have seen no Quranic or Biblical scripture to justify such action to date.
I honestly had chills watching this entire video Shaheed and all I can say is I am so proud of you. God makes no mistakes and He made you the Chaplin for a reason because He knew that how you were going to find Him. So happy and so proud of you and I hope to continue to see you prosper. This is nothing more than grandstanding and self imposed martyrdom. There are plenty of Christian men in these organizations. He didn't have to do it like this if he wanted to step away he could have done it quietly. Out of respect for his lb's , his chapter etc. We as Christians are not perfect do we denounce our faith because changes need to be made?The hypocrisy here is insane how many bad things are done in the name of Christ. Our ancestors were enslaved by Christians. Do we throw the whole faith away because of some people who abuse it. This man betrayed his brothers because he wanted to score points with the so called Christian Community. Why couldnt he follow Christ's example and encourage his brothers. Of course there are many Christians who pledge. But this is his conviction. Everyone’s convictions aren’t the same because everyone isn’t in the same place in their spiritual walk. I know others that chose not to pledge due to similar convictions. Sometimes conviction comes after you’ve made a decision. 🤷🏾♀️

This so beautiful to my Brother christ come out from the demonic fraternity. Because I went through the same thing with kappa. I mean as soon as I cross over I felt this demonic strong hold and I was like I got to denounce this in Jesus name So I been there and done that and that was over 40 years ago. Right! I wanted to pledge in college also but always felt that I was always my own person and I didn’t really see myself being a frat long term. When you in college a lot of people judge you off that stuff.
That's interesting. Alpha Phi Alpha doesn't define who or what I am. That's like going to an buffet dinner and the restaurant is only serving tons of one item. Alpha is but one part of my personae. Before I pledged Alpha (Phi Alpha), I was a husband, father, son, brother, military officer, security supervisor. When I approached the brothers of Alpha, expressing my interests to become a member of their fraternity, I had to make room on my very large plate.
I'm sorry that you had that perspective of Greek-lettered organizations "defining/limiting" who its members are and what they may become.

Oh, wow. In our short time together, I noticed a change in your behavior and shift in your priorities so I am not surprised to come across this video of you renouncing. You mentioned how you always felt like you had to prove something to somebody and that definitely showed when you were out and in front of a crowd with the others. I feel like this was necessary for you and I am so happy that you have released yourself. What I don't understand is how ministers, preachers and men of the cloth be involved in these rituals and oaths inside of the fraternities. Don't they realize the idolization of gods, and the conflict this creates? Kudos to you young man for sharing your truth.
Trying to advance their ministries the easy way, by connecting with people perceived to have influence. Again, it’s an identity crisis. We are the people of the Book, not the world’s system.
I’m not Greek and I’m not necessarily a practice Christian, but my experience in the outside is - I was always confused by these organization bc although I saw the charity work, I also FELT the exclusion. As black people the collective effort is important and when you say, no you can’t be apart of this good that we are apart of, or we aren’t going to share this good information bc you aren’t a apart of, I feel like that’s detrimental to the entire black body and the entire Christian body. And then attack the beliefs of people they feel are crazy. Why is that? I have worked in State Forensic Mental Health for some time. As a member of Omega, I don’t begrudge your decision. I’ve never felt the conflict of being Omega and Christian but there are some things such as wrecking, partying, and other shenanigans that I don’t participate in.

I thank you for your testimony. I wanted to pledge a sorority in college but it never had the chance to. By the time I had the opportunity again, my heart was so convicted that I couldn't do it. I even told a lady I befriended that was helping me (she was also a believer) my convictions, and she said that before she pledged she had the same convictions but pledging was something that she always wanted to do so she did it anyway. I'm so glad now that I obeyed the leading of the Holy Spirit. And I pray that if others here His voice that they obey Him and not be hard-hearted against Him.

I tried to join a sorority many times in college and in grad school because I was seeking acceptance in man but God blocked me from joining every single time. I didn’t understand it at the time and I felt some type of way but now I’m so thankful that God was watching over me and blocked me from going down a path I would have regretted. I recently learned how demonic and wrong fraternities and sororities are, I didn’t see it until God opened up my eyes to see and understand it... I pray that God blesses you and uses you as a vessel to help others to come out of that stronghold.

This is the part that I don't get with Christians that judge him. Like, y'all say y'all for God but then turn around and blast and crucified him for his reasons on why he wanted to leave the Greek organization. Like seriously? Thats like me, wanting to leave a party, keys to my car in my hand a quarter after midnight and somebody keeps begging me to stay. 3 am shows up and 30 people done left the party and Im about to head out the door as well, but that same person keeps begging me to stay. No, I'm tired, I'll see you later. Little does that person know that they will not be seeing me again because now you just come off as not only just needy, but clingy. You can't force no one to stay if they don't want to and Tbh, this is why we have the issues we have today, because everyone is so judgemental. It All comes from sin. Personally, I don't attack anyone for their walk with God. Y'all attitudes towards him is really the equivalency of a bunch of Jehovah Witnesses when ex members want to get up and leave or when lgbt people no longer identify as gay or lesbian, so the lgbt community try to bash them for their decision making, which is all part of the devil when you think about. I wish the best for him and his journey because this isn't easy. I'm sure whether if you were in a Greek organization or not, just know that we all had some dark days in our lives especially in college where we either felt left out or did something we didn't want to. I was one of them, never a Greek, but still had my own demons to face and God protected me still till this day. So I say God blessed everyone who wants to come to terms with Christ.
As a current member of a fraternity I respect this guy views. You can't become upset with him for believing in what we believes. Respect
Only when the denouncers imply that others should adopt the same understanding of their particular scriptures as they have and come to the same conclusion.
If they choose to leave, that's their decision and I can respect that. When they sell rituals to swindlers, that's a high level of disrespect to the organization and those of us who respected their decision to leave.
