Awesome! Ordered the trailer brake relay switch on Tuesday. I started getting the the service trailer brake system on Monday. I get the travel trailer all hooked up and my trailer brakes would not engage (Had reservations for this weekend and was loaded and noticed the trailer brakes would not work). Well, just received the part 30min ago and installed it and what do you know....The service trailer brake system does not show up anymore on my dash. Well, this video helped because my brakes on my trailer now engage!!!!! Beer 30!
Also y’all, clean all your grounds good. My 2013 had a Bus A failure which can be low battery voltage or bad ground or In my case the relay in fuse box was bad. This can be a very complex issue with a bad PCM as worst case. This video was by far the best I FINALLY found after 2 months and fixing it myself but I’m ordering that relay right now just to be safe. Good luck!
Hi there, thanks for putting together the video, here’s my situation, exact, same truck, and had the trailer brake warning come on, took it into the shop, as I had another issue that needed, addressing, and as soon as I went to go to a trailer it was clear it was not Repaired. I need to check with my shop once they’re open after the weekend to see if they did the same repairs or different, all I know is when I went to go plug in my trailer I didn’t hear the characteristic dings from the cab, and after the first smile knew right away, that my time and money have been wasted, if I can fix my truck at home after watching your video, I/O, you a beer!
Thanks for the video and the links for the parts. Delivered from Amazon like in a day and a half. I have a 2008 dually so mine is on a bracket off the inside frame rail. Yes on the wd-40 spray or something similar. Very easy fix.
Mine wound up being the relay in the fuse box which I heard a while back chattering badly when it all got damp. It’s the relay second from firewall and can be changed out with parking light relay to check. It’s also same as starter relay which I bought a 2pk a yr ago.
@@buddyyll I don’t think my problem was the truck, rather the trailer. Even after I replaced the relay...couldn’t really get power at the plug using a test light. Rather a pulsing dim light. Used a different truck on the same trailer. Still very weak brakes. Found a broken wire on the trailer brakes.... that helped a bunch. So I’m not really sure my relay module needed replacement. Sorry, I’m not giving you much information. Bottom line for me is that my trailer needs new brakes. I’ve already adjusted them out.
Question... my'08 will throw this message only when I'm NOT connected to my trailer. When I plug my trailer in, I have to turn off the ignition and restart. Message goes away and trailer brakes work fine. When I disconnect the trailer, the message comes back. Any ideas? Thx in advance!

What part of the country you live in? Dang rusted truck, I lived in Chicago and my 2002 truck has just been replaced with a less rusted truck. My issue remains on my 2012 but think my ABS sensor is affecting me. I added new fuse and new relay.
I live in Northern New York. Not the city. If the warning light is still on after the relay and fuse replacement it could be the trailer brake control module. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching.

No offense, but I’ve watched three videos now and every single one has a totally different solution for fixing this problem. Is there a way I can test this part before replacing? I do have a multimeter.
You can always test any relay or switch with a multimeter, by checking resistance, and by voltage.
I replaced the relay but the light is still on. Is there an extra step after replacing the relay or should the light just go off
