We had a great week, if I know the one you fished. A west wind brought the bait nosing right up to the beach for almost an entire week. I'm a little greedy and hope there's another run like that before old man winter shuts the door. Great vid!!
flat beach like that i am never leaving the jetty. best is to have a buddy with you. one guy never leaves the jetty and the other can roam. glad you guys got them this fall. my spring was all time in mass. i was out until my arms hurt most mornings in june. summer died off completely. water temps were insane and i even saw two dead, bloated stripers floating with no anglers around. never seen that in my life. fall was all smalls and really it was pretty much dead. catch and release, boys. it is the only way. see all those boats out front? they're not throwing slot fish back. lots of those guys will keep fish over slot, too. under slot. more than 1 fish per man. etc. make sure every cow you catch is revived and goes back strong. crush your barbs. unhooking a fish is a skill, definitely more nuanced than just reeling one in with no surprises. take pride in it.

Best run for me ever man. I caught over 30 stripers in a day between 25-36 inches a couple weeks back. That hurricane fishing was fun lol.

Amazing, thanks for sharing. I grew up in Jersey and fished inlets and bays often. Very rarely did I surf fish, hardly had a clue as to what I was doing. Always read about this kind of action in magazines and newspapers. Someday I'll catch a striper in the surf. Thanks again.

Same here in CT. Loads of peanut bunker were getting slammed. Insane topwater action. September and early October were loaded with gator blues before the stripers took over. Stripers were moving fast and popping up all over the place.

A Lami and a Van Staal..........you're a true Rhode Islander now! Welcome to the club! I finally bit the bullet myself 3 years ago. Got tired of gator blues breaking PENN's after a single day. The VS feels like it will never break. So far so good anyways.
I needed a new surf reel and figured id finally get the vs.. not 3 weeks later the handle breaks off while reeling in a teener bass from a blitz similar to this one. they fixed it free thankfully but I really dont know anymore, 30" per crank sucks, I can live with it if the reel really is bulletproof but it broke in 3 weeks. I heavily debated returning it as 850$ can buy 2 saragosa's and a clash but i chose to hold on to it. Hopefully it lasts awhile now that its manufacturer defect has been fixed
@@ChrisMcIntee Ooof. That sounds like a one off situation but at least it was only the handle and not any gearing issues. That said, I can only speak about the VR series as I didn't want to spend the extra couple hundred for the VSX lol. Is yours the newest VSX 2? Mine has been fully submerged several times and dropped in the sand twice without issue. Well, hopefully it holds up for you. The VSX 2 (which was new this year)I heard has been pretty significantly upgraded. The VR has also been revamped but with just some slight tweaks to the drag. A lot of guys swear by the OG ones that were made in CT not China like the new ones. Hope I see you on the shores of RI sometime. We fish the beaches around Westerly/Misquamicut the first two or middle two weeks every October. I actually live in CT but hoping to migrate to RI at some point.

Thanksgiving day of 2016 at Island Beach State Park was insane like this year we thought we weren't gonna see this again for a lot longer but its still popping pretty damn good here in December. Killing the big girls out in the boat and in the bay in kayaks at dark. We deserved it since the blues went kind of scarce in the summer

It was an amazing fall run this year in nj. we had a West wind for almost almost the entire month of November. It was blitz conditions every day out there

spent tree days chasing these blitzes but kept being at wrong beaches or at wrong times & both... left dejected back to philly... Not having a great local info network, definitely made my trip hard on my own, I drove 300miles up and down the shore in 3 days, it is really hard to meet the fish where they are and when they were popping, just reading delayed reports online and asking cagey locals... perhaps the other issue was being short on luck this time... It was beautiful though so that was nice...

Since this was over 2 weeks ago can you share what beach you fished? I mostly fish for trout and I'm thinking about just taking a ride to LBI this Friday or Monday. Is that too far North already? Thanks.
lbi isnt a bad place to try in fact its a pretty good bet. Ibsp is also a good bet. lots of the fish have pushed south or offshore now but should be another couple weeks with potentially good fishing, it just comes and goes, right place right time. Some years its good through new years.. some years it sucks all fall. only time will tell how the rest of this season pans out

The blitz was insane in CT but so were the large numbers of jamokes and boats casting in towards the surfcasters. Guys taking fish outside the slot, bleeding them out on the dock, breaking beer bottles on the rocks, littering cigarette butts and leaving hooks in swimming areas for kids to step on. Unfortunately the crush brings out the worst in people and there's not much you can do.

Defiantly a great day I was in long branch and had a total of over 50 fish between me and my buddy defiantly worth the 1hr plus ride for me and whoever was out there experienced or not caught fish so it was definitely a great day
